Who: The Crew of The Shepherd
Where: Various locations
When: Month of January
What: General crew log
Warnings: None at the moment; EDIT: attempted homicide, violence, and all around insanity, in accordance with the new event
Style: Whichever you feel like
Status: Closed to crew members
And so, at the beginning of January, the Shepherd set off from Isle Impieze back to Green Breeze Island, intent on revisiting what they'd discovered there; there were new crew members after all (in fact, the crew was almost completely different at this point), so there was more than enough justification for it. It would take some time reaching it, but the ship's supplies were well stocked so that wouldn't be an issue at all.
That wasn't the only change, however. The crew had since elected a new captain, and as such, this voyage was a proving grounds for the new status quo.

But it was fine. Despite his wound, Henry could keep going, easily. He could barely feel it, thanks to both his high pain tolerance and all the adrenaline going through his body. Oh, yes, he could keep going like this for ages. It had been too long since his last proper fight. He had missed all of this.
For a moment, he forgot all about the real purpose of the fight, the reason why he'd come down to the beach. All that matters is the fight. Losing himself in his excitement, he grins as he saw Gaius rush for him again. The only thing that would make this more fun was if he had a tome he could cast faster from.
But he always did enjoy a challenge.
He starts casting again, trying his best to speed up the process. It's difficult to dodge and cast at the same time, but he makes an effort to at least try this time - he jumps back quickly, managing to avoid the blade this time, while doing his best to keep the tome steady. Before he even lands, he hurls the spell out at Gaius. As he lands, he stumbles slightly from the force of the spell escaping the tome and he feels a sharp sting from his wound, but he can't bring himself to care about that.]

This time Henry's spell hits him full on. It hurts more than expected, knocking him back and off his feet. He crashes to the sand, sending his senses askew. Dark mages, ugh.
Stubbornly the thief's not relinquished his grip around his blade, and it's what he uses to try and get back on his feet, even though he feels a little sapped from that last hit. Glaring back at Henry, he pulls his sword from the sand, sliding into a defensive stance as he finds his balance. Let's try and avoid any more hits like that, huh?]

Precure... Rosetta Reflection!
[The large, clover shaped shield of power bursts to life before her again. At first, it seems to buffer the freezing cold. She starts to try and push through it...
That is, until the shield is - in almost an instant - frozen itself. Rosetta's eyes widen then, as the barrier cracks and shatters. She's blown back by the impact of her barrier falling, and the wind, sliding back across the sand and falling to her knees.
And then, she can't get up. Not just from the strength suddenly draining from her, but because she finds her legs frozen. She struggles, but that ever present Precure strength seems to be quickly leaving her body, and she gazes at Diamond through the winds, a horrified look in her eyes. And maybe, somewhere deep in them, probably not even visible to anyone, a look of thanks.]
We only- we only wanted to save you, Rikka-chan...! [She sounds frantic, as most of her body and arms are now encased.] ALL I EVER WANTED TO DO WAS SAVE YOU BO--
[Diamond Shower works fast. Just like that, Cure Rosetta is completely encased, and like that she remains for another second... before a bright glow bursts through from within the icy prison, and it explodes into chunks as Alice and Lance are both thrown from it in opposite directions, both landing and tumbling roughly along the coarse sand.
Apparently, her Cure form breaking had an especially violent reaction. Perhaps her powers really DIDN'T like what she was doing.
While the little fairy is instantly unconscious, Alice stirs for a moment. Shaking from the cold, she digs her hand into the sand, looking up weakly at Cure Diamond.]
...b- because... I love.. [Another else is left silent, as the last of her strength leaves her, and she passes out face first in the sand, unconscious.]

But she flinches hard when the ice shatters and ejects Alice, and with all the energy she can bring together she runs over to her fallen friend, more quickly this time, crouching to her knees in the sand to catch what Alice manages to say before she's knocked out. Rikka closes her eyes, and whispers something too quiet to hear. She stays there for a moment, before standing back up and shifting to face the others. When her wild hair clears from her eyes, there's a promise of pain in them. But she turns back to Cure Heart, and her expression softens as she starts toward her.]
Mana... please. That's enough. I don't want to hurt you, or anyone else, any more. Let's stop this...
[Her ears are open, listening for sudden thieves even as her vision starts to blacken around the edges. And she holds out her hand to her friend. Not close enough to take, but enough to make the meaning very, very clear.]

[Heart screamed, her hands digging into the sand as she saw what fate befell her partner. Her head snapped in Rikka's direction, her gaze burning with hurt and anger]
HOW COULD YOU DO THAT?! WE WANTED TO SAVE YOU! FREE YOU FROM YOUR PAIN! WE WANTED TO SAVE YOU, RIKKA!
[Mana summoned all her strength, and charged forward, moving fast despite the fact that her legs felt like lead weights. It seemed for a moment like Mana would use her quickness to deliver another punch to Rikka...
... only for her to forcibly, and painfully, drop her transformation just a few short feet away from the blue Precure. Mana fell forward, clawing impotently at the air, snarling and raving like a rabid animal. She hit the sand face first, as Cheryl's unconscious body bounced away from her's]
NO! NO NO NO! I HAVEN'T FINISHED YET! I STILL HAVE TO SAVE HER! I HAVE TO SAVE THEM ALL!

Nevertheless, he's not going to risk her getting up again until they've dealt with Gaius. The blunt end of his spear hits the back of her head -- not hard enough to cause permanent damage, but certainly hard enough to knock her out.
Two down.]
You have done enough, Rikka. We'll handle the rest. [Jade's tone is firm, though not entirely unkind. He doesn't need to know the girls well to understand how traumatizing this is.]
no subject
Thank you, Colonel Curtiss. I'm... going to stay here. Be careful.
[Once Jade isn't standing next to her anymore, she kneels in front of her friend, holding her hand for just a second before there's a blue flash and she loses her form again, falling sideways flat onto the sand but not letting go. This time, she's not getting up again, and Raquel has turned back into a toy and dropped, unconscious, next to her. She can feel herself fading out, and with Mana and Alice... not safe but close enough for now, she doesn't fight it.]

Now, how to deal with Gaius... He could try to be clever about this, maybe figure out some way to get the thief out of his defensive stance, catch him off guard...
...or he could just go the old fashioned route and keep firing spells at him. That had worked out well enough so far. Yeah, he was gonna go with that one.
He cast Ruin once more, straight towards Gaius... then continued casting without a moment's pause, sending another spell out right afterwards. Let's see if he could dodge well enough twice in a row.]

If he's still going to carry out his mission, he can't do it like this. Hopefully Jade isn't that quick on his feet to get in close enough- Gaius is going to use every advantage he can get. He focuses back on Henry, and rather than try for another attack, the thief waits for his next attack and makes to dodge.
That he keeps moving manages to work in his favor with the second spell flung after him. Gaius tucks into a roll, pushing off as soon as he's upright again. He's making for the treeline.]

No high artes, then. Something quick and relatively weak.]
O mighty explosion... Energy Blast!
[A sphere of energy ignites above Gaius, causing a small explosion. It should at least stop him from running, if nothing else.]
no subject
[Is that really his biggest concern right n- oh right, it's Henry, of course it is.
Well, with Jade's help this should go a lot easier. Still, no reason not to make it even harder for Gaius to get away. Noticing the direction the thief is heading towards, Henry casts another spell while Jade is doing his thing. Rather than aiming directly for the thief, he aims at his destination, towards the trees. He's fast after all. And if the spell gets there first, well, then at least Gaius would be slowed down for a moment.
He keeps the book held high, ready to cast again if needed.]

He hears Jade speak and realizes they're not just random words. Was it a mistake to look back at that point? The flare of light above definitely doesn't spell good news, and the only feasible way to try to get clear of it at all is to pull another roll. The explosion goes off, only making it more difficult for him to find his footing on the sand, and his body protests from taking the earlier hit from Henry's spell as it is.
His hand sinks into the sand as he drops it down to catch his balance, but he doesn't go much farther thanks to Henry's spell sweeping across his path. Gritting his teeth, the thief turns slowly, trying to catch his breath as he faces the two. He's better saving his energy than allow for any hopes of them letting him get to cover.
Of the two, he figures Henry might be the easier target, but Gaius isn't going to take offensive just yet. He watches, waiting for them.]

I'll go keep him busy. See if you can catch him while he's distracted, will you? [He has his weapon at ready and glances at Henry.] Don't worry too much about hitting me.
[Without another word, Jade makes the first move. He may not be quite as agile as Gaius, but he should be able to hold his own in a melee for a while.]
no subject
[Luckily, Henry is very good at following orders. He holds for a moment while Jade moves. The moment that Gaius's attention is focused more on Jade than on himself, he'll shoot out another spell.]
no subject
[He jerks his hand up, bringing his blade to deflect. Having heard their exchange, he knows he can't let himself focus too much on one person, although this was already a given.
Jade might be able to tell he's still mostly on the defensive, Gaius concentrating more on keeping any attacks from solidly hitting since he doesn't want to be caught with weapons locked. It'd be great if he could get Glasses caught in the crossfire, even though the man didn't seem too worried about it himself.
He whips around as Henry casts his spell again, barely managing to move in time. The sand beneath his feet and his growing fatigue only makes it more difficult, and his dodge isn't nearly as neat as it should have been, his falter more than obvious.]
Tch-

[Jade is being aggressive, intent on not giving Gaius time to focus. When Henry's spell comes, he stops his attack to call up Magic Guard. The shield of fonons around him only lasts for a second, but it takes the brunt of the spell and leaves him largely unharmed and on his feet.
Gaius, on the other hand, is faltering, and Jade wastes no time bringing his spear up for Thunder Lance again, causing another strike of lightning to come down and hopefully stun the thief. The continuous artes are starting to drain him; this needs to end soon.]
Henry! Now!
no subject
[As soon as he hears Jade, Henry shoots out another Ruin. He's had more than enough opportunity to take his time with building up the power, thanks to his distance from the fight. It's a lot easier to cast when you're not about to be stabbed, after all.
He's put some more power into this spell - hopefully enough to bring Gaius down this time. Well, only one way to find out...]

Those precious few seconds aren't enough for him to shake off Jade's attack, and he feels like he's going in slow motion by the time he lifts his head to see Henry's spell flying right for him. It slams into him, and whether from that or falling flat on his back, his breath is knocked out of him, and blackness swims eagerly across his vision, claiming consciousness.
He's going to feel that one later, definitely.]
