What: Time to get reacquainted, make new introductions, and weather the storm until they can return to their ship. And collect black coral from the beach.

ETA: With regards to Dog's suggestion of the coral, the evening of the 12th will be used to arrange the next week's rotation for keeping Tamaki company and checking the beaches for coral.)

[That stops him still, and whatever he was going to say flies out the window. If Tamaki looked, he'd be able to see Hikaru's eyes filling with heartbreak and guilt - until he ducks his head that is, and covers his eyes with a hand. The other balls into a loose fist by his side.]

That... idiot... [He swallows hard, trying to contain himself.] He should have known I'd be happy to come here, to be with him.

Because he didn't want you to suffer the same situation. This isn't an ideal world to be in for the two of you.

[He glances at Hikaru and places a hand on his shoulders.]

I think he just kept telling himself that it was better this way. That him going through this alone was better than have you be in danger.

Who cares if it's not an ideal world! As long as we're together, that's all that matters. He shouldn't have to go through things alone. [They're not made to function separately. They're supposed to be together - to be able to support each-other, and to make things easier in their lives. That's why they were born twins, and Hikaru firmly believes that.

He takes a deep, shuddering breath before standing up straight and letting his hand drop back to his side. He looks at Tamaki, eyes full of determination. He wants to demand a promise that Tamaki will never let Kaoru lie to himself about things like that again - but he knows he would do the same thing. It's a defence mechanism of sorts, for them. Doesn't mean he likes it.]

If he--if I can't be around--promise me you won't let him think it's better if he's alone. [Because he knows his twin, and he knows that if he's not around, Kaoru's not exactly likely to go sharing his thoughts with everyone. Isolation isn't good for them, they know that now, but that doesn't mean they're the most open people.]

And that's how I thought it should be. But you need to understand, he was also very worried about you. Thinking that it would be okay if its only him, just as long as you were okay.

We never did. [He gave Hikaru a gentle smile.] But we both know that he was only trying to be strong. Because you're just that important to him.

[He just nods curtly. He can't say anything more - he knows if he tries, his voice will break and he'll end up saying more than he wants to. He and Kaoru have been slowly getting through these things; there's no need for him to involve Tamaki in it.

He shrugs Tamaki's hand off his shoulder gently (he really appreciates it, physical contact has always been the right way to get him to calm down and focus) and resumes walking yet again. Longer, faster strides this time, and his head is bowed a bit more than usual. He just wants to see Kaoru now, even if they're only going to spy.]

[He just smiles at that and quickly follows Hikaru with his golden retriever behind them. After a while, he had to ask.]

Where the heck are they?

[He looks up, surprised. He hadn't realized they'd come so far - he'd been thinking about other things. He turns around, looking all around.]

We must have taken too long. They'll be ahead. [They'd better be ahead.]
