[Hang on...that's like the first time she ever heard Xun Yu laugh before. That wasn't expected. Nor was the small smile that crept up her own face.]

It's unusual for a figure of authority to be so plain spoken. [She certainly can't imagine Motochika tackling politics.] But then, my former life was far removed from piracy... perhaps it isn't so strange after all.

[In a way, it's only natural that the end of the possession leaves her in a reflective mood.

Xun Yu pauses, unsure of the etiquette of what she's about to ask. Necromancers simply don't exist in her homeland -- perhaps in part to their tradition of ancestor worship -- so even though it's not directly related to necromancy, touching upon the subject of Zozo's powers feels marginally taboo.]

...Can I ask you about your magic?

[Zozo tilts her head slightly. Her expression's back to normal now, more or less, but she does look curious. Xun Yu never asked about her magic, why she didn't know, so bringing it up now was a bit strange. Not that she minded.]

Have you noticed any changes to it since you came here?

[She knows that it's a rather vague question as she asks it, and so expands upon it.]

Are your spells behaving normally? [And more awkwardly:] Are you... holding together with your ordinary resilience?

[...strange. Zozo raises her hand up to her chin, her eye looking downwards as she tries to recall.]

I haven't noticed anything different. Why?

I... remember that when I cast, I felt a consistent restriction upon my magic.

[It's a somewhat troubling thought; her eyebrows draw in slightly as she faintly frowns.]

From a superficial perspective, your abilities are closest to mine aboard this ship. So if you had also noticed any changes... well. I could have put to rest speculation that it was a consequence of me being possessed.

Well my powers kinda have a consistent restriction already. It takes a lot of magic to hold my body together.

[In other words, why restrain something that's already restrained.]

Couldn't tell ya. I lost track after about five years or so.

Yep.

[Considering after all this time her goal was still to get her body back? Yeah. Sure she put others above herself and passed on the chance to get it in favor of saving the world, but...she still misses it. And she's not giving up.]
