Oh. Well, I do want to get home someday so helping a crew get the gems seems to be the best bet.

Really? I would like to help. Do we have any good maps at all? I'd like to study the islands so I can familiarize myself.

We have one. It's in the Captain's possession. [Enchanted, no less. She has a suggestion to impart, however.] Don't you think that you should wait until we reach Port Chance before you begin studying?

I guess if we have to. *He likes maps. It means he knows exactly how much he needs to explore in the vicinity.*

I thought we might be able to figure out where more shards are hiding.

[She feels a faint pang of guilt at the mention of the shards. Of all of the crew, she's the one who has been closest to one -- though she hadn't known it at the time. It had been set into the collar around her throat when she was acting at the Pirate Witch's bodyguard, during her possession. By the time that she was herself again, it was in the hands of another crew.]

It will be easier for you to concentrate once we're off half rations, and you will have longer stretches of uninterrupted free time.

That's true. Although once we land, it sounds like Captain is going to focus on the alcohol first. *He's barely 19, so not much of a drinker.*

You're under no requirement to follow his example. [Though she doesn't know what their captain has planned.] At least not immediately, or too often.

I'll give most of my share to the Captain. *He'd probably be happier that way.* First we'll have to work on landing and to do that, make sure the ship is still in one piece.

As far as reaching Port Chance intact goes, I doubt that the Katabami itself is any danger. Did the Captain boast to you of his prowess on the seas?

His skill at seafaring is true, from what I've observed.

[Their captain may not be perfect, but she's confident that he's one of the better ones on these oceans, and worthy of their investment.]
