I cannot say, though it is a strange thing of how we seem to remember different things concerning our actions back home.

[It's probably a good thing he already learned about the whole thing with Magoichi's report. Otherwise, he'd probably be right back at square one of confusion.

Though it's what Motochika says about Mitsunari that catches Ieyasu's attention more.]

If you wouldn't mind explaining further, what was the cause behind it all?

[He knew that Mitsunari's anger was something that was already bad enough, but the idea that there was someone else fanning such flames?]

It was a plot hatched by Motonari Mōri and Yoshitsugu Ōtani and between them they held all of our strings. I know not what Yoshitsugu wanted, save to watch the world burn to appease his own madness, but I'm sure you well know that Motonari would go to any length to assure that no other would ever hold Chuugoku. It's disgraceful that one man should make so many suffer for such pettiness.

[Especially when that man would leave no legacy behind due to his own isolation and cruelty.]

[He's quiet, listening. It wasn't anything unheard of that Yoshitsugu was behind such a thing, given that Mitsunari was one to fully listen to him without any real questions. But even for Motonari to go such lengths just to keep Chuugoku...]

And you said Magoichi was able to find this all out? [There's a brief pause as he stopped to think over what it was Magoichi had told him when they first made contact here.] She didn't mention any of this when we spoke, which only seems to make this entire situation all the more strange.

Though one does have to wonder if there's a purpose behind bringing us here with our knowledge of different events.

If there is one, it escapes me. Very little of this entire fiasco makes sense.
