No, I don't. I don't have anything to say on that to you or anyone else. Just forget about it.
[Since when is Lea upset about him making friends. When did this happen? Where was he?]
Why are you looking at me like that?
no subject
[And now they're fighting. Great.
He hasn't been able to be there, not when Roxas disappeared in their world or when he died in this one, or when he first appeared here, or when he came back after the poisoning, and now that he's trying to be, what good is it doing? None at all. Some best friend he is.]
no subject
[Roxas is frustrated. He tugs at his own hair and groans a little bit. God, this is so hard sometimes.]
Do you not want me to meet other people? I don't get what's going on here.
[Maybe Lea's not the only one who can pick fights.]
Maybe it's not me who doesn't want to talk.
no subject
[Well, he can't deny that it stings that Ikki was the one to find Roxas on Aeolipile and bring him back. It's not that he minds Roxas having other friends, but he doesn't like Ikki's attitude about the whole thing, especially since the guy has never said so much as one word to him.
He can't deny that he doesn't want to talk about all this, either.]
I don't know. Forget it.
These two are master communicators.
[Roxas brings down a fist on the railing, hard.]
I. Don't. Understand. Explain it to me!
no subject
You know what Thatch said to me the other day? That I need to let you figure things out on your own instead of answering all your questions, that that's a habit I need to break you of. I know he doesn't understand, you know, how things were before, but...
[He's right and Lea knows it and he doesn't like it. When those questions are gone, what's going to be left? Isn't that what Roxas needs him for?]
no subject
What is that?! So because he said that, you're not going to talk to me? He's not Saix you know! He's not Xemnas!
[Roxas raises his hands and shoves at Lea.]
If you don't want to talk to me just say so! I'm sorry I was upset! [Unlike other times, he doesn't mean that.] I'm not a toy for you either! Can't you just say what you mean?
[Roxas shoves him a second time. It's Lea who's pissing him off and he'll get the brunt of his anger.
He pushes away from the railing, pacing a little. He doesn't know how to deal with his anger without lashing out, but at this point he's not even tempted to try. He summons Oblivion and holds it out to Lea.]
You want to have it out, huh?!
no subject
So this is what it's come to.
[It's just like what went through his head back when Riku had brought him the news about Roxas. Sora always comes back, Roxas always leaves, and Lea always gets left behind. It's just how the universe works, apparently. Him and his big mouth, him and his stupid decisions. He might have been able to work up a retort, but that mention of Saïx was a punch to the gut that he didn't need. There were similarities there that he hadn't considered, that Roxas couldn't even know about, that just drove home that he was starting the whole cycle again with Thatch, trying to find a replacement, trying to put back together the life he'd screwed up the first time around. Pathetic.]
no subject
All the same, Roxas is standing there, breathing heavily from his rage, blade out and serious.]
If you don't want to talk, you never want to talk, then arm yourself because I'm not going to hold back!
no subject
Not really in the mood. Get a few hits in if it'll make you feel better.
no subject
no subject
Roxas, listen...
no subject
There's a pause before he answered, his words full of bite.]
So what, now you want to talk?
no subject
[Not exactly diplomatic, but true. Still not the right answer to Roxas' question, though. As usual.]
no subject
Yeah, well, you don't want to talk to me about it, I don't know why you're playing the best friend card when you're lying!
[He won't swing a sword at Lea unarmed, he does however raise his hand and shoot a fireball into the railing beside him as a warning.]
no subject
You're right. Well, it's your card to take away, kid.
[His voice is weak, defeated. He's not even sure how things got this bad, this fast, but he's pretty sure it's his fault.]
no subject
I don't want to take it away! I want you to...
[That's it. He can't spit out what he wants to say, he's not sure how to put it. He wants Lea to stop acting like this. Goading him into fights, and trying to be his friend but closing himself off to Roxas. Anything uncomfortable comes along and they argue, because Lea won't talk to him and Roxas is desperately trying to keep Lea happy, but he's tired. He's tired, and he's feeling alone, like he does when Lea shuts himself off and he's not sure how to say any of that.]
no subject
[It's a tiny glimmer of hope and he doesn't let himself hold too tightly to it. There are countless ways to finish that sentence and he has no reason to expect a positive one. Countless ways to finish that sentence and very few that Lea won't do if Roxas asks it of him.]
no subject
I can't...I don't know...just give me a second here!
[It's more of his own problem at this point, isn't it?]
I don't like this. I don't want to fight with you but I hate it when you won't talk to me. It's really annoying!
no subject
[He means it, too. Roxas deserves better than what he has to put up with from him.]
It's not my favorite thing either, it's just how I ended up.
[There was so much he'd had to shield Roxas from that it had just become second nature, keeping as much of the ugliness of the world away from him as possible, even if that ugliness was inside Axel himself. Lea himself, now.]
no subject
[Roxas' fists smooth out against the deck, his palms flat. His energy is leaving him as he calms down and he stares at the deck. Well, Lea wins again, ultimately, he's not willing to push to talk anymore.]
no subject
[Lea sighs heavily and pushes off the rail. He's not quite sure where to move to or what to do next, so he ends up awkwardly crouched down next to Roxas, just within arm's reach, but no closer.]
I really am sorry. I mean that. I shouldn't keep things from you, but...
[But he's afraid of what will happen if he doesn't. Before, it was to keep Roxas happy and sane and in one piece, now it's because he doesn't want to ruin this second chance at life for him, except now he's not really succeeding at that, is he?]
no subject
[He finally meets Lea's eyes. His tone comes out defeated more than anything, and soft, very soft.]
Aren't I your best friend?
[All the barking he does about their friendship, Lea doesn't really say the same.]
no subject
[Lea reaches out, not quite feeling like it would be okay for him to ruffle Roxas' hair and settling for just brushing the tips of it with his fingers instead.]
It's not like I'm keeping anything fun from you. Anything I'm not telling you...you probably don't want to know it.
no subject
[He sighs a bit.]
Like before, I was asking you about me. You know secrets about me, don't you?
