Sweet sweet sugar~

Who: The crew of the Koumyou.
Where: Sweetwater; either on the ship which is docked there, or on the island itself.
When: From now until the end of the candy curse.
What: Adventures with some enchanted water, and then with a mysterious bowl of sweets!
Warnings: Sexual content later on, otherwise a healthy bit of drama and Hajime being Hajime.
Style: Whatever you wish!
Status: Closed to the Koumyou... and anybody they invite over or who happens to be on the island. Just let us know if you wanna join in, in that case!

[Clementine knows it's different now. It used to be different. Two years ago she had been...protected. Lee had done a great job of protecting her from the worst of it, shouldering the burden.

Lee was long gone now. She pushed at the baseball cap on her head, scratching her forehead that way.]

I...I don't know.

[Her battle is likely one she cannot win, and she's been left on her own to it. She hasn't been able to trust anyone in a long while.]

So I didn't miss anything! Well, I guess that means I gotta get back to work, huh?

[And that's a lot of work, too, with Rin still grumpy and Ai still mopey.]

I came prepared, though! I made scrapbooks for everybody just in case I came back and I've been carrying them in my backpack. Here, lemme see...

[She fishes through the bag and pulls out a stack of small, brightly decorated notebooks.]

Ta da!

Hey, Gakupo!

[Gotta be nice and say hi, first! She's been gone a long time, after all!]

Katze-san's a friend of mine! [He doesn't think so.] He was gonna try to destroy the world, but noooot anymore!

[She cocks her head to the side and laughs at something only she can hear.]

He lives here now [she pats her chest] so he's with me all the time!

[Mitsuhide folds his hands in front of himself and tilts his head, looking over that bright stack of books. How curious.]

Scrapbooks?

[He looks confused.]

I... forgive me, I am not certain what a scrapbook is.

[Mitsuhide's expression grows sadder by the moment. He is silent for a short while, before taking a seat and staring at the water himself]

The way you look around is a like that of a warrior who had been through painful battles, my dear.

[He cannot imagine what kind of world she comes from, though he is certain it is harsher even than the war-torn one he comes from. At least there, children aren't thurst directly into those harsh fires.]

I sleep with, at the very least, a dagger at my side and my sword in my room. When I sit, and when I bow, I am always positioned in such a way that I can draw my weapon. There is always a part of me that looks around for a threat. Do you feel something like that?

[She looks surprised at that and in spite of herself she smiles just a little bit. She'd rather be seen as a warrior than a weak little girl, although she's tried that when it suited her.]

I wish I had a weapon, yeah.

[Clementine glances around again and then sits down too. She's ready to get up at a moment's notice.]

I haven't had one in awhile. I had a pocket knife but I broke it before I came here. It's not really battles but it's just...

[It's almost like a war, but it isn't at the same time.]

When you come across someone, it used to be okay. Now it's not...not safe. I lost my group. It isn't just the walkers anymore, but the people too.

[It isn't hard in that hellish place to lose faith in humanity.]

[Hajime pulls a blue book with an elaborate masking tape bellflower on the cover out of the middle of the pile and returns the rest to the bag.]

This one's yours, okay?

[She opens it up and starts flipping through it for him. Inside, there are short notes, news clippings, drawings, and photographs, most decorated with colorful stickers and bits of ribbon or tape.]

There are pictures of all my friends and where I live and what I've been doing in the first part, then in the middle part there's some pictures from a trip I took to Tottori Prefecture, which is where the boys are from. The last part is a bunch of historical sites and stuff, so maybe you might recognize something!

[She's had a lot of time and cause to travel in the past year and a half. It's part of being a national celebrity, after all. Sugayan had thought it would be good for the country and it doesn't hurt to listen to Sugayan sometimes. He's the prime minister, after all.]

[That all sounded pretty creepy to him, and Gakupo will literally file that away as such.

Ah, I....see...I'm glad you're back, however. We were all concerned about your disappearance. [Gakupo is more worried about her sanity now.]

[She's sane, silly, she just has an alien that talking to her!]

I had stuff to do back home, so I guess that's why I had to go back. Now that the world's all saved, it's pirate time again!

[She spins around and claps her hands.]

I guess since it's only been a week, nothing big has happened here, huh? It's like I didn't even leave!

[That doesn't sound any better!]

Yes, pirate time. [Gakupo just watches her twirl.] Are you really that glad to be back?

Yup! I figured that since everything was taken care of at home, I should be coming back any day.

[Being here has always just been another adventure to her. There had been no pressing need to go home before because she'd been pulled from before they'd even been sure it was Berg Katze they were facing and now that Katze has been defeated, she can enjoy her time here while it lasts with nothing weighing on her mind. She has faith in the rest of team and in the members of the Galax network. They'll keep the Earth safe just fine.]

There's a ton for me to do here, after all!

[Like make sure Ai is feeling better and make sure Mitsuhide isn't too gloomy and Rin isn't too grouchy. Oh, and take care of the shard and plan birthday parties. And keep an eye on how everyone else is doing.]

[Mitsuhide could never have imagined something like this before; his eyes widen in astonishment as Hajime flicks through the book.]

Those pictures... I have never seen such realism! It's as if one has poured a complete memory onto paper!

[Because, of course, nothing even remotely like the concept of a photograph exists in his time. To him, each and every image Hajime flicks past is something miraculous. Many of the things in the photos are also beyond astonishing; he has no doubt that this 'scrapbook' is going to become incredibly precious to him.]

Hajime, this is incredible. I do not know how to thank you for such a gift!

[Mitsuhide sounds as awed as he feels, even though he's not looked at the scrapbook properly yet.]

[Hajime smiles and laughs.]

You're welcome! I wanted to bring something that everyone could keep!

[It was something she'd gotten to thinking about when she was coming to terms with what she'd have to do to face down Katze. She wanted to tie up all of her loose ends, but there was no way to do that without being able to see her friends here again, so she got to work on making something for everyone just in case she ever got the chance to come back.]

Now when I tell you about everything that happened, I have pictures to go with it!

[Aiichiro doesn't need the candy, because he's been drinking the water. He's not hungry. Yet, every time he actually tears himself away from his swimming and comes back into the camp, there it is, tempting.

He's still dressed in nothing but his swim shorts, as if he intends to go right back to the pool he's chosen as the best swimming spot, but he stops next to the bowl, grabs a piece of candy, and shoves it in his mouth.

Then he goes tearing off back toward his swimming hole. Anyone running into him on the way will get a surprise!]

[Well, at least she sounds like she isn't lazy.]

Oh? What sort of things do you need to do here?

Be morale officer, keep the shard safe, plan birthday parties, keep the birthday list updated, meet new people, go new places, see if I can find Santa, have a party with Mana, figure out how to play games over the journal, ask Dog about history, maybe meet Dog, find a mirror pool and make extra Hajimes, all sorts of things!

[And that's just the beginning! That's what she could think of off the top of her head, but it's been a whole week after all. Something else might have come up.]

[Those all sounded like very good goals to have, so he's rather impressed. But there is one detail that catches his attention.]

Why can't you play tic tac toe or S.O.S.? What about pictionary or riddles?

Those are good ideas! I was talking to Luke about it a long time ago, but then I guess he disappeared and we couldn't plan together anymore.

[That happened with her art day she was planning with Kay, too. It's kind of sad, but she doesn't dwell on it. At least they got to go home. They probably had important things to do there like she did.]

I should see if anyone is interested, though!

Pain and loss can sometimes drive people to desperate acts one would never expect of them. [Mitsuhide bows his head, sounding somber. He knows that fact well.] I do not know everything about your situation, but I find it impressive that you are keeping yourself going despite the burdens you carry.

[In truth, Mitsuhide is not quite sure how to handle this talk. Who is he to assess anyone's situation when it is so far removed from anything he's ever known? One encounter with shuffling corpses could not prepare one for an entire world of them, after all. Even the human aspect of it is not one he can understand fully.]

We can find a suitable knife or dagger for you on board. I have several fine ones myself.

[They serves as good defensive weapons even for the very inexperienced, after all. He pauses for a few moments, and then raises his head and offers the kindest smile he can manage.]

And perhaps offer something of a break from the horrors you know in your world? I know that Hajime is still determined to find this 'Santa' figure.

[She takes a slow breath.]

I can win because I'm smarter then they are. They can't think like I can. I'm faster too.

[Clementine wishes she could say she's inexperienced, but she really isn't.]

I don't think Santa really exists. If he does, he probably got eaten by walker too. He never came for me at home.

You are a special child, Clementime.

[The atmosphere is heavy, and for good reason. Mitsuhide feels a little helpless about what to do to best help this young woman. All he can do is offer his kindness, at this point.]

Perhaps in your world, but maybe he does here. This world is full of magic and the unexpected; it is a place where strange winged creatures exist that steal one's left socks, after all. I was quite unable to get the ones that were taken from me back.

[And then, for just a moment, Mitsuhide looks sheepish.]

It was too quick.

[Mitsuhide takes the scrapbook more fully into his own hands and closes the cover. He runs a finger across the bellflower on the front before looking at Hajime again and bowing respectfully.]

[The samurai really, really grateful.]

Such stories will be lifted by your fine imagery, I am sure.

[She nods a little bit.]

Maybe. I don't remember all that much from being here before. I wish I did.

[Mitsuhide has had some experience with the bowl of heart-shaped sweets by now, but this means little. Because no matter how strong his will and common sense, the enchanted nature of the treats is able to match it and he spends his time around them on the edge of picking one out.]

[It doesn't help that he doesn't actually understand what most of them are saying; modern slang and abbreviations are way beyond him.]

[Right now he is sat in the camp with a couple in his lap and one his fingers. Mitsuhide is frowning at it, obviously confused by what the sweet is trying to say.]

I wonder... [He mumbles to himself.]

Yup! Big things happened, after all, so it could get preeeetty confusing!

[Her stories are usually confusing to begin with, so the pictures probably will help. At least now when she talks about living with a tiny panda, she can actually point to a picture of Paiman in the apartment.]

Senpai told me I should write it all down, but nope!

[Like most of Sugane's reasonable suggestions, that one got ignored right away.]
