[The screams of the ones who had been doused in Magellan's poison still lingered in Ace's mind. He remembered every single instance someone tried to escape and was hastily put to death by the Warden. Ace never feared the man, but he never did fear other people. He feared the consequences of his allies being in the way of his battles. When the bomb burst, Ace pictured his crew, swollen and gasping for air from the poison. Their blood would clot and their skin would crack. It would be torture until death.

It was the only motivator he had to swallow the bomb. He could take the pain. That wasn't to say that he wasn't feeling the pain and fighting it. Ace's hands touched the deck, leaving blackened imprints. The sails surged, shifted by the rush of wind from his body. He couldn't hear anything except for the crack and spark of fire in his ears. Rushing blood turned to fiery oil, simply so it could keep pumping.

When he opened his eyes next, he was looking at Chandra and she looked fairly dismayed, herself.]

Hey, relax... I'm just worn out, it's alright. [He said, his chin and neck covered in his own blood.]
