INTRO LOG: APRIL 2014
Have an intro log for the month of April!
Who: Any and all new characters, as well as anyone hanging out on or around Isla Empieza!
Where: Near the fountain in the town center.
When: New characters will arrive around April 9th! The log is good for as long as you need it.
What: You've just been dropped on your head in a weird new world. Time to figure out what the heck is going on!
Status: VERY OPEN.
The day begins gray and drizzly, the miserable sort of rain that just makes everything muddy and unpleasant. Just the luck of the locals of Isla Empieza that these April showers bring more outsiders instead of May flowers. As the day goes by, the rain gets heavier and the locals get surlier. Lucky for you you have that message in your journals telling you to get moving and find a crew, huh?
Feel free to throw your characters here if you need a place for them to get situated and start figuring things out! Start new threads, tag into others, meet the people who might just become part of your crew! Older characters will be in and out, too, depending who is on the island at the current time.
HAVE FUN! And welcome to High Seas!

There's a lotta things I'm looking for and none of which I want to find around here, I'm guessing.
[He eyes the journal in her hands, and then the old fountain beside her.]
This is a start, although I don't know how much trust should be given in some weird message in a book you don't know where it came from.

[Codi rests her elbows against the fountain's rim, casually addressing the newcomer over her shoulder with a widening grin. If she's lying, she's at least very confident about it.]
That's what I'm here for! I mean, you can't trust the message...trust the person sitting in front of you who's done the research, yeah?
no subject
That right? Sounds too convenient, don't you think?

[He folds his arms.]
All right, I'll bite. You're the first one who'll look me in the face around here, anyway. What's your take?
no subject
My take? We've been kidnapped by our lovely host, Mister Davy Jones, a ghost demon pirate who wants to use us to collect the shards of the Piedra Roja because he's too lazy to get off his fat ass and find them himself. We need to find the shards because it's our ticket out of here.
Following so far?
no subject
Yeah, I'm following. Can't say I'm liking it, though.
no subject
I don't think any of us do--well, the kidnapping, I mean. The finding the shards and making a temporary living bit isn't so bad once you get used to it. Except maybe for the Navy. And the curses. And the general lack of hygiene. But the islands are cool, though!
no subject
Cool or not, I've got better things to do than go on some crazy treasure hunt. How temporary is temporary? I got a country to conquer.
no subject
More than five months--seven, on the long end, and still going. [She shrugs.] Not that it matters. People that Jones sends home and brings back later say that time doesn't pass while you're here. I'm sure the country can wait.
no subject
You're kiddin' me.
....
So this guy just randomly throws you back an' forth if he wants? I'm guessing that meeting this Davy Jones guy head-on to force him to send us home ain't an option.
no subject
I wish I was. We aren't sure exactly what he's capable of, but seeing as no one was able to take him out when he was standing in front of the first batch of arrivals, I'm assuming he's a pretty tough customer--and only makes an appearance when he feels like it.

[He turns away, fingers drumming over an arm as he thinks about all this.]
no subject
...So...you might be here a while. What's your name?
no subject
The name's Date Masamune.
no subject
Dakota Perkins--call me Codi.
no subject
Codi, huh. Guess I should thank you for the info.
[Annoying and upsetting as it might have been to hear.]
no subject
It's my job! I should thank you for cooperating with me--and not causing too much trouble before I could talk to you.
no subject
Hah! I was close to it, but I figure startin' up anything around a place that already seems on edge about me wouldn't be the smartest move.
no subject
[She lets go after he stops talking, and introduces her own bark of laughter.]
You're a smarter guy than the asshole who burned down the market, then! I commend you and your forward-thinking!
no subject
These people may not seem very friendly, but they haven't done anything to deserve somethin' like that. 'sides, I think Kojūrō wouldn't approve of it either.
no subject
[Codi huffs and folds her arms in vague, tired exasperation.]
If only the new arrivals could have been so polite before I started greeting them. Ah well. [She shrugs.] Welcome to the island or whatever! I'll be around if you need me.
no subject
[He nods at her before turning again, tossing a wave over his shoulder.]
See you around, then.
