Animals do creepy stuff sometimes, they can't help it. Probably especially fiery birds, because they've got a huge predatory advantage, jeez.

Hey, wow! [ He's pretty much only been to the big city or the arctic, so this is not a thing that Bolin sees a lot of. JAMMING THAT BACK ONTO HIS HEAD. Pabu, in turn, follows it up there and kind of jams his face into it, all the better to root around. ] Thanks a lot! I don't know how you made this without, you know, fingers. Or without... setting it on fire. If that's even a problem for you. The grass looks okay and everything, but maybe it's just weird grass. [ Oh right, he had a point. ] It's still great, though! Love the craftsmanship.

[As for setting things on fire, well, fortunately his flames only look dangerous. They can't burn anything, but Bolin or Pabu would probably have to be brave enough to touch the bird or just notice that the deck isn't bursting into flames wherever he's touching it.]

We're going full Disney Princess and there's no turning back. Pretty sure that everybody ever talks to animals like there's a full conversation going on over here. ]
So, you an island native? You don't really seem to mesh, but what do I know, right? I'm not exactly a big "world traveler" or anything. Which changed when I got kidnapped, I guess. [ That's sort of a bright side. ]
Ohhh. Got it. Wow, my brother's showing some great taste in pirate crews here. We get Ace and the giant, tattooed, fiery bird, and Korra and Asami are here. I mean, apart from the kidnapping, this is all turning out pretty great!
Sometimes I really wonder what life would be like if I still thought something like a laughing bird with a tattoo was unusual. I'm pretty sure I used to be in that kind of an emotional place, but I can't actually remember what it was like anymore.
[ This situation is really starting to catch up to him right now. What a life he's been leading in the past few months. Wow. ]
I mean, it's not exactly bad, because this piracy thing was a lot easier to swallow than it would have been. When you've watched your friend turn into a giant blue spirit to save the world as you know it, you kinda have to have room for being kidnapped by some dead guy you never actually met? [ It's a risk people take. Probably. He doesn't really know. ] And we've got a lot more friends now, and my brother got a career and I got famous, which helped me save the President, which was great. But man, looking back, it seems like a lot of stuff escalated without any warning. Or, you know, sort of happened and then never came up again at all. Weird.
[ He shrugs and idly gives a mouse on a tiny rectangle of earth a ride back and forth in front of him. Whatever, weird situation. See if you ever actually manage to keep a good Bolin down. ]
Anyway, I'm pretty sure that this isn't gonna be all bad. [ The mouse hops off and begins a journey to join Pabu near Bolin's flower crown. ] How many times in my life will I be able to say I sailed around with pirates in another world? That's rare!
