Who: The Spade Pirates Where: Serenes When: April 10th-13th What:chillin' out maxin relaxin all cool Gathering supplies Warnings: Nothing more than the usual Status: Open
You’ll figure it out, Bo. [No, probably not. But Mako doesn’t have an answer to that and he’s not about to admit it.] Besides, we’ve got plenty of ways to handle things.
[Except guns. He’s still working on that one.] Once you’ve been on the ship for a while, you’ll see what I mean.
[The thing about Serenes is that it does emanate that peaceful feeling, and Mako’s set on not letting that get to him. He’s just sticking to pointing out the occasional spot for Boling to earthbend up some roots for him to rip out.]
Right. Sure! That just comes with the sea legs, I guess. Figuring stuff out. [ Mako does have that habit of... being not wrong about things centered around being right and staying a step ahead. Almost ever. He guesses.
Okay, Bolin's maybe a little skeptical, actually. But then again, what does he know? This piracy thing is pretty fresh compared to anything he's got experience in handling, Varrick and Nuktuk and all- not that that's bad or anything. No dark spirits or sinister bloodbending, no unexpected turncoat betrayals from guys he likes hanging around, a nice-looking ocean, a nice-looking island with great weather (which is hugely better than the mud, rain and suspicious staring deal that statue-town had going for it)... plus, the whole Team Avatar is sticking together this time around. And traveling the world together! It's not the right world, but it still has to count for something. Finding out that even one person he cares about is here to share the adventure-come-kidnapping improved his outlook drastically.
Bolin is quiet for all of like... half a minute, while he deflects negativity with the ease and experience of a turtleduck going for a swim. He swipes a few acorns for Pabu to try balancing on his nose, maybe kind of sort of flicks one towards one of Mako's feet, and decides that all circumstances considered, things are still really, really nice right now. He can get behind that.
But silence is seriously overrated. ]
So. Nice to get to explore a real, non-petrified forest, right? I mean, check us out! We don't even have to run away from something right now.

[Half a minute. Mako's got that time to decide about actually trying to learn how to use swords, maybe even along with Bolin. Without having any earth to bend, he's not sure how they'd work in tandem like they're used to.
Annnnd that half minute's up.]
Not yet. [Guess who's keeping an eye out for danger. On the most peaceful island ever.]
Did you get a chance to talk to Korra and Asami over the journals? [May as well find out how much they filled him in, if at all, while he's cutting off roots with a fire knife.]
[ Mako, pls. Never change, because he loves you, but he has a really good feeling about this island. ]
Yeah, both of them! It sounds like they're handling this "sailing around looking for shards" stuff really well. Not that they wouldn't, I mean. [ They basically handle everything awesomely. He missed them for that entire day where he thought they weren't gonna turn up. ] And Asami made the Naviraimant thing way easier to handle. You guys all said it works, so I knew I'd get to the ship and all, but who really knows what else to expect out of mystical transports these days?
[ Like tingling, or throwing up on his brother, or accidentally swapping bodies with Pabu... crazy portal stuff. ]
They've had a few months to get used to it. I'm still getting the hang of it.
[Which reminds him... Mako gets back on his feet, the fire disappearing and he looks over at Bolin.]
What's the last thing you remember before showing up here, bro? [His tone's casual, but Mako's eyes aren't moving off Bolin for anything. It's an important question if there ever was one.]
[ That look leaves him oddly concerned and unsure if he'll have the wrong answer somehow. Huh. ]
We were... at the Southern Water Tribe? Korra gave her big speech about ending the civil war and people learning to live with spirits, you got a great hug from your favorite brother? I dunno, I was gonna go get some food?
[ Oh man, did he forget something really important? Did something happen like thirty seconds after the last thing he remembers? That would be so lame. ] Why?
