[Hey, the Heartless don't dirty his blades much at all.]

Yeah, it's coming off okay. [Roxas turns it around to show Thatch the side he's working on, it's almost clean at least.]

I'm glad Aya showed me how to clean them.

So I see... [not much else to say about that, really. He wants to ask about him and Lea and then decides he doesn't want to ask about him and Lea because he's heard things and why are these kids a mess of love triangles anyway? It's why you don't mess with nakama unless you can't help it.]

How's your pet pigeon?

Pigeon...

[He blinks a bit and then smiles.]

Oh Xifer! He's good. He took me flying all over the place and it was great! He knows all kinds of tricks you know and he's really face. We had a race, but he beat me.

[Decides he's done with Oblivion and it vanishes, only to be replaced by Oathkeeper moments later. The blood splattered over the blade is a sign of what Oblivion looked like before he got at it.]

[he's a little phased by the blood to be honest. He's not sure whether the blase attitude means that Roxas is serious or that he's crazy. The first one is fine, the second needs some looking after]

Aye, he's pretty talented at that. Birds like that enjoy raspberries on their bellies.

Raspberries? What's that?

[He tilts his head a little, looking up from what he's doing, curious before dipping the cloth back into the water he's using.]

Ask Marco. He's the champion at it. Get him to show you his secret technique.

[A bit of an odd turn but he just shrugs a bit.]

Xifer... [he shakes his head, wandering how much longer Marco is going to play that game] You're really attached to that bird, aren't you?

Yeah, he's really great! He took me flying the other day! It was awesome. He went really high and really fast and he knows lots of tricks.

[taking him flying, eh? Thatch doesn't understand Marco sometimes, he doesn't. Except perhaps maybe there's a certain freedom in just being a bird. He'd like to shed his skin if he could and be something else for a while. Free of pretensions. Though he was fairly certain a vast number of people would dislike him after]

Well take good care of him. And if things should...go unexpectedly, try not to be too hard on him, aye?

[Roxas blinks a little, tilting his head curiously.]

What do you mean, unexpectedly?

[thatched]

[waves a hand] You'll discover if you do. If you don't you don't. Surprises are just the way of the sea, lad.

I don't think I like surprises, they're never good.

[Roxas glances back at what he's doing instead of Thatch.]

Some are good, but the nasty ones are the hardest, I agree. It's all in how you handle them.

Okay, then I don't think I handle them very good because I get angry. When I get angry it's like I explode. It's really really hard not to get angry.

[But he's trying hard.]

It's something you have to work at. Getting angry isn't easy, but a real man learns how to control it. [even Ace could up to a point.] So long as you don't hurt any one you shouldn't.

I've hurt Lea before, but he hurt me first. We had a fight before I came here. It's kind of complicated. He was trying to capture me so I could be killed. I think everyone I've hurt has deserved it. There's people I still need to get back at. But that anger is different then the exploding one.

[thatched]

[that's largely Lea's business and he seems okay with it so Thatch doesn't much care. He tucks his hands in his pockets and leans against the railing]

And what happens during the exploding one?

I've only ever fought Riku like that, with the burning one, but sometimes I destroy things. Not usually people. I broke DiZ's computers...I damaged the deck when Lea made me mad.

[He chews on his bottom lip a little. He feels bad about the deck now.]

[well if that was all, it shouldn't be too bad. And, really, Marco sort of had it coming.]

So long as you fix what you break or at least pay for it, it should be fine.

I didn't fix the computers and I would have taken it right to DiZ too but he was like an image instead of facing me face to face the coward. I mean, if you're going to destroy me at least give me the chance to cut you up!

[just a stare. He has no idea what you're talking about. This seems to happen frequently. There is no context for him to take, and even if he knew what computers were, it was nothing that existed in this place-- Or at least he was fairly sure]

I'm talking about here and now, Roxas. The past is the past.

[He blinks a little bit at him and shrugs lightly.]

Well, okay. I haven't done anything like that lately.

[Roxas seems to think it over a bit.]

I don't think I can forget the past. I think about it a lot, but that's because I did a lot of bad things.

I think you'll find few here who haven't gone through the same thing.

[maybe not the people that came from Roxas' world but among his nakama and some of the others]

But the important thing is shaping the future.

Maybe I guess so.

[He pauses and smiles before shrugging again.]

The future for as long as I stay here!
