Serenes Island Kraken Barbecue
Who: Spade Pirates, anyone else on Serenes Island back on April 13th
When: Backdated to April 13th a few hours after Ace's announcement of kraken eatables for everyone
Where: Serenes Island
What: Biggest barbecue as prepared by an amazing chef. Hope you all like kraken!
Warnings: None(?)
Style: Starting in prose but you pick!
Status: Open to all Spade Pirates and anyone else within smelling distance. All who are hungry will be fed!
With the kraken that Ace caught, Zeff got the opportunity to really flex his cooking muscle. It had been a while since he'd gotten his hands on a beast that size, and every morsel of it was going to be cooked. After all, Ace had announced it was going to be on the menu. Who was this chef to deny his captain?
He'd worked quickly and efficiently, butchering the great beast to separate out the different parts. Then had come the process of cooking it all. The smells coming from the outdoor kitchen he'd had set up would be enough to make anyone's mouth water: takoyaki (practically a requirement), pickled kraken, grilled kraken, kraken ink pasta, and the suckers both fried and made into soup. Of course, there were other foods on the menu to complement the meal: bread, fruits, vegetables, but the focus was largely on the remains of the beast that Ace had provided them.
Zeff set out the last of the drinks before bellowing, "Come and get it!"

Nope. Island was still evil. He glared at it. It was too bad, he liked takoyaki.

"Dinner!" he shouted up towards the crow's nest.
no subject
"Uh..." Hm. What was he going to do about it? He really didn't want to go down there again.

That seemed like a good solution. It was in a box and if he did it carefully, he could pull it up. Natsuno tied one end of the rope to the railing and dangled the rest down towards Zeff.

"Pull it up. If there's anything in there you don't want, send it back down, and I can go switch it out with something you do like."
No need to waste food.

"It looks great, thank you."

And then maybe entered something of a staring contest with a chef.
Flowers.
In your hair.
You know you want them.
He will will you to want them.
They will be gorgeous.
Look at everyone else in their flower crowns.
Don't be the odd man out, chef!
Why does that icon look like it has hipster glasses?
Not happening.
Ever.
Forget it.
Because the rings around his eyes do XD that's why so much of his art gives him glasses
Because he is, by the way. He totally is.
Ah...
XDDD
Marco perches on one of the fridges for now, waiting. Come closer and he's totally dropping that crown on you, okay?
These two's CR. XD It makes me laugh so hard.
"Get off of there!"
lol good good XDDD

"Woohoo! It's been awhile since we've had some! Thanks for the eats, Zeff!"

"How are our supplies doin' with the takoyaki? It's probably gonna use a lot of our flour, huh?"
no subject

"Thanks for the meal!"
He began eating, chewing and swallowing quickly so he could at least get a bit of the taste in to continue the conversation safely, "Noted. Ahhh, so are the preserves keeping well? It's been awhile since I've salted anything, so I assume the supplies are fine."

And nobody had to tell Bolin to join the lineup for food twice. From there, he just kind of took a bit of whatever kraken parts looked the most interesting. Growing up on the streets had pretty much put him past actively disliking any kind of food, provided it was, you know. Food. It was a natural advantage, and what good was a developed taste if a person couldn't enjoy some fried suckers or pickled kraken when the opportunity came knocking? Try anything once, right?
"Wow! Who knew there were so many different ways to cook one kraken?" Not him, that's for sure.

"This isn't even the half of it," Zeff stated, bringing over another tray laden with takoyaki. He smirked as he set it down on the table. "This is mostly just what can be whipped up quickly. The leftovers I'm going to store away to use in longer-cooking recipes while we're at sea."
no subject
"Then I've gotta say, sir, that you're obviously as talented as your moustache is impressive. Sooo, I guess you just kind of come from a place where people bring in sea monsters all the time? Or is it more of like a "one hundred ways to eat giant sea creatures" cookbook that you happen to own situation? Because they both seem pretty likely."

"That's some really accomplished stuff! Seems like a step back to be a ship's cook again now that you're here, huh?" Nobody had ever accused Bolin of thinking before saying whatever came to mind. He brought a hand up to his chin in thought, still holding the chopsticks and all. "But I guess it doesn't have to be a step back, either. You can have the best food in the East Blue, all those other Blues you're probably talking about, and have it for people from a bunch of different worlds all at once. I mean, I'm no expert or anything, but if they handed out trophies for this stuff, I'm pretty sure you'd have it in the bag by now."

Zeff chuckled at Bolin's betting he'd be the best cook on the seas. (At the rate the flattery is coming, he's going to be rewarded with Zeff learning his favorites that much quicker to be able to serve them. What? An old man's gotta have his pride.) "Good thing the eggplant isn't here. He'd throw a fit hearing you say that."
And oh how glorious that fit would be. Watching Sanji rage was always a joy.
