Have fun! I'm gonna put up threads for the food'n'fight group and shard findin' group. We do have a map which Robin possesses. You can drop in on either or stay on the ship and guard it or just have fun on Malihini! You know, whatever. :)

Eh, probably hunting. We've been pretty low on meat for a while. I don't mind leaving the treasure-hunting to Robin, but if it's dangerous, you know where to find me.

[mostly because he wants to have fun, not that he's worried about anyone not being able to take care of themselves]

Not a chance. We've managed to keep ourselves mostly in one piece so far, no reason to stop now.

[Also hehe. One Piece puns. Never gets old.] Aye, but I've seen how easily your captain and his brother get into trouble. I don't expect it to be as easy as it looks.

It never is, no. But I'm used to dealing with Luffy. [so he says.] I just gotta keep him off the meat until it gets back to the ship, the last thing I need is to get a good day of hunting in and then have him eat it all raw on the walk back.

He'd eat it raw?

Even Ace at leasts roasts it. I mean he's made of fire so that doesn't take him long, but still.

[Oh his god. He's so glad Luffy promised not to try to eat and/or taste him anymore.]

I don't know if I should take it personally that he's licked me before or not. Since he said he's also licked Ace and Leanne.

Annnnnd I never thought I'd meet someone who could out-crazy Roger, or their Grandfather. [Shudder.] No wonder Thatch avoids him like the plague.

...nah, he does that to almost everybody. He's done it to me. Sometimes I think his brain is in his tongue.

[interesting thought, though...] ...crazier than Roger? No way.

[That's okay, Marco blames Ace for giving him the redbull okay.]

That could explain a bit.

[Holds up his fingers about an inch apart.] Little bit. But my memories of Roger are kind of filtered since I had Pops and Rayleigh to hold back the worst parts of him.

[yes, the redbull was totally Ace's fault and he will somehow pay.

Zoro just shakes his head incredulously]

Even after meeting Rayleigh, I didn't think I'd ever brush up against someone who actually was there, and knew Roger. That's wild.

[Small amused grin.] Really, Rayleigh was the better of the two, but I have first mate bias. I also prefer Benn Beckman to Shanks.

Haven't met any of Shanks' crew. I liked the old man, though, he seemed pretty cool.

Rayleigh's awesome. He still fights slavery in Sabaody and keeps an eye on baby fishmen who venture up there. And he's a rare friend I actually have outside of the allies. [Fond grin...]

Roger was always a headache though. He and Pops were friends, but he was like the exact opposite of Ace. He was loud, he almost never got angry, and he always had to be a party animal. He never bothered with social norms either. It didn't faze Pops, but back then I was still trying to get used to people, so it always drove me nuts. I swear Shanks picked up all his worst habits too.

[storytime requires booze, so don't mind if Zoro sets down the bottles and pops the cork on the rum while he listens, fascinated]

Really. That's eerie...Luffy really is a lot like him, then. But who knows how much of his own habits he picked up from Shanks? I don't know a hell of a lot about that time in his life, aside from the hat.

Ah, I'm not completely sure either. Let me see.... [Math math math.] That was after we took over Fishman Island so I was pretty busy back in those days, helping Pops set up the Empire and all that, eh.

But aye, Roger and your Captain have a lot in common... even if Roger never licked me. [:| But then again... he had his Daddy around to hide behind so you know... now he wonders.]

It's kind of funny actually. Ace hates anything to do with Roger, so I never would have expected Luffy to be like him. Especially the way Ace adores Luffy.

Yeah, but...Ace never would have met him, would he? So he doesn't know first-hand what Roger was like.

At the same time, Luffy would be the first one to say he doesn't want to copy anyone else, he'd rather go his own way. So maybe whatever differences are there are what Ace cares about.

[Rubs his chin and nods.] Almost definitely.

Roger was a lot more like a pirate. Sometimes I'm not even sure your Captain would be a pirate if not for Shanks, the way Ace talks about him. Does he still really leave IOU treasure rocks?

[SNORT!] Nah, not so much. Now we just dine and dash.

I dunno. When Luffy says things like, a pirate is the only man who is really free to do whatever he wants, that's what gets me. I'd rather that than try to live up to somebody else's expectations.
