Mayhem at Malihini

Have fun! I'm gonna put up threads for the food'n'fight group and shard findin' group. We do have a map which Robin possesses. You can drop in on either or stay on the ship and guard it or just have fun on Malihini! You know, whatever. :)

It means I'm curious what you think a date means. What do you know about it?

Oh, it's taking someone out and doing fun things like eating dinner and watching fireworks and punching bears.

[swing swing]

And sometimes you kiss, I think. But it's different from doing it--except...that's how it's supposed to end up? Unless you just want to start off by doing it... but maybe that's not a date...

[he folds his arms. It's all really complicated]

[Robin smiles again, chuckling.]

Mm. It's confusing, isn't it? Relationships are difficult to generalize, since each and every person tends to go against the generalization.

[She holds up her finger and presses it against his lips before he can talk.]

That means the moment you try to explain it to someone and say that it's one way, they will immediately be able to list numerous examples where it's different.

[She pulls her hand away, resting it in her lap.]

[he was about to ask, but nods when she explains. So if it's different maybe no one can explain it. Maybe it's just kind of like being friends or nakama but with kissing and things-- but, then if that was true, why couldn't he do it with all his nakama?]

I guess it's something you just do.

[because only someone as smart as Robin could figure it out. And then, just to see...]

Would you kiss me?

[they were nakama after all]

I suppose, if you wanted me to.

[Robin cups her chin in her palm.]

However, kissing on the lips usually implies sexual desire.

Really? All the time? [he folds his hands behind his head and pushes the swing thoughtfully] You can't do it just because you want to?

[and after another moment]

I'd want you to want to. [but not in that way. ]

[She shrugs. Luffy probably could. But Luffy is an exception to nearly every rule.]

There's nothing stopping you. But others are likely to interpret your intentions wrong if you do.

[he sighs a little]

I think they'd just get mad unless they'd eaten candy first.

[he kind of misses that candy]

Are you going to kiss Marco?

I don't know yet. And I dislike having others pressure me to decide when I've only met him a couple times.

That's tough. [he can tell she's upset by it and it annoys him a bit]

If anyone pressures you I'll kick their ass. You should only do something like that if you wanna.

[Robin giggles.]

Well, we'll see what happens.

[And looks directly back at Luffy.]

Is there a reason this has been on your mind?

Ace was talking about it. And Zoro and Sanji are doing weird things with it-- so I wanna try and see what it's like.

[another sigh]

I have a date with Kodacchan but she's gonna get married so I don't think I can kiss her... but everyone else gets mad or weird when I talk about it.

[have a grin, though]

Except you.

Hm. I imagine it just makes them nervous. You're unpredictable, after all. They don't know what to expect, if they let you try.

So what? [that's how he did everything. Frustrated he gets up and folds his hands behind his head, kicking a rock]

I do what I want. Why do they have to be worried about it? If it's something that good, why is it so hard? We're nakama not strangers.

[he doesn't get it. Will him being himself upset everyone somehow? Was that the problem? He didn't like that at all. Ace said to be himself even if he was the only one and he knew his nakama would stay with him-- but--]

I wanna change it back.

[it was less confusing that way. He didn't really mean it cuz he knew he couldn't and they wanted to do it and he didn't want them to have to stop but still-- ]

That's precisely the point, in some regards. You do what you want. But dating and kissing is only partially about what you want. You have to make sure the other person wants it as well. Just because someone is nakama does not necessarily mean they wish to kiss or date you, even if they care deeply for you. It's a different sort of relationship.

And...

Sometimes people use kissing and sex to hurt others. Instead of something good, it becomes something that damages others, deeply.

[She crosses her arms and runs her hand up to her shoulder, then seems to realize she's doing so, and takes a stronger stance, with her hands on either side of her legs.]

I know you wouldn't hurt anyone on purpose. Zoro, Sanji, Ace- they all do, too, I'm sure. But uncertainty is natural, particularly when first approached. No one wants to be pressured, and sometimes just bringing it up in conversation can seem like pressure. Do you understand?

[oh yeah. He'd forgotten it was about two people. He didn't think it'd be a different relationship for him, but it might before them. Maybe that's what made it so hard.

He knew about the other thing she said, too, but he hadn't really thought about it much before. He turns to look at her just when she drops her hands and then comes to sit beside her again, pushing the hammock back and forth with one leg.]

Yeah I got it. [he'd just have to make sure the other person was okay with it. It wasn't something he wanted but-- it was kind of like a person's treasure. They didn't want to share that thing with someone like he didn't want to share meat.

He glances at her]

Can I kiss you?

It isn't exactly an ideal time to ask that of me, Luffy, considering Marco's presence here and the reason he came. If he saw or heard about it, it would prove problematic, don't you think? Most people believe that if you're kissing one person, you shouldn't be trying to kiss another until the relationship with the first is adequately ended.

Ehhh really?

[well she'd said she would if he wanted but maybe it was opposite if he asked.Well either way it was fine even if he wasn't happy with it. But even if there weren't rules there were rules. Except then why had Kodacchan agreed to go on a date if she was gonna be married to someone else she really liked?

He blew out a breath and rested his chin on his hands]

This is really hard.

[pushes them back and forth a bit.]

Of course, Marco and I aren't kissing yet. And taking previous meetings into account, that isn't likely to have changed by the time he returns to his crew.

[Robin reaches out and brushes a few strands of hair out of Luffy's eyes.]

If you're still curious after that, you can kiss me once. [She holds up one finger, then turns her hand as if making an offering.] Deal?

[he laughs and slaps his palm against hers] Deal! Thanks, Robin. You're awesome.

[he wonders what that guy is waiting for? Well, who knows.]

Okay! [he gets out of the hammock and punches his palm.] I'm gonna get more food!

Anything you want me to look for?

[She shakes her head no.]

Don't stay out too late.

Okay! [he wont stay out past dinner anyway. He takes down the deer and throws it over his shoulder, before waving]
