For most of this voyage, Liz can be found outside on deck. It was... kind of intimidating, how very wide the open sea was. How endless it felt. Kind of freeing though. The woman can generally be found at the back (that's aft, right? Or was it astern? She'll remember it all soon enough) of the ship, keeping to herself and watching the water.
It was amazing, being on a real ship like this, staring off at endless blue. She'd sailed, for missions and things, but nothing like this. There were times she was in the Galley, looking to see if she could help with cooking for the crew. She didn't eat much, but she could find something to help with if they needed.
At night? She can sometimes be seen sitting on deck, practicing with her fire, mostly just cross legged on deck huddled in and waving a hand out and in, fire on, fire off.
Afternoon
He had a wide smile the entire time, because despite the monotony of the situation and just how depressing his lifestyle was, he was completely pleased with himself.]

[But as she came back towards the deck, she saw him there writing. Hands behind her back, she walked towards him slowly, tom boy boots on deck being loud enough not to sneak up on him (then again she had the feeling it was hard to sneak up on any of these guys)]
Keeping a log?

[He relaxed and lowered his hand so he could open the book again for her to see.]
Anyway, you're correct. This is my docket for the day to monitor the ship's maintenance.

You know, you don't have to salute me. The B.P.R.D. didn't hold rank. Not really. You don't salute Agents. [not that she even counted herself as a real field agent, but seeing as they gave her a badge again not long ago, she supposed it was something.]
Is there a lot you have to keep track of? [she glanced at his book but wasn't pushing to look at it or be too nosy]
no subject
I'd like to maintain the ship as succinctly as possible. Part of that means documenting on everything I do and how I do it.
[Which in practice means he's spending more time writing about it than actually doing it.]
It helps, in case there's any need for repairs.

Over the course of her first few days on the ship, it'll be pretty much impossible not to run into her.]

When he was done, he did the same six kicks over and over and over again. In the background, the narrator played soft piano music.]

[Kai had to stick with the basics herself, considering there wasn't enough space on a ship to use her sword properly without permanently damaging anything, crew members included. She would offer to spar, but she's not 100% sure how sturdy this new boat (or Coby) is.]
no subject
Actually, I thought this would be relaxing to practice for now.
[Coby's idea of more intensive training was being physically assaulted by the guy who threw cannon balls.]
no subject
[Since it got to the point where she wasn't allowed to spar with them anymore because they needed them intact for actual battles. Helping with drills was the best way to stay involved.]
I guess that wouldn't be very relaxing, huh?

I suppose I'm a bit odd. The performance of your allies ensures you have men and women who will help protect you if you need them to, so I've always appreciated such exercises.
And, it's healthy living.

[he says from where he is standing in the hold, easily leaning on the deck with his forearms. True it's drizzling lightly but the adequate umbrella he had found was working serviceably. Anyway he needed the fresh air]
no subject
[No. It's raining. Also people aren't supposed to be this tall. Even that Maeda vagabond back home is three feet shorter than this.]
It's, uh, kinda rainy!
[Keep smiling, Kai, keep smiling.]
no subject
[wait a beat for laughter. It's ice man humor. After a moment he looks up at her]
Care to share it with me?
[As even a smallish umbrella is better than being rained on]
no subject
Oh, um, I'm sure I'll be fine. Just fine!
[Except her hair will be a nightmare so maybe she should just stand under the umbrella. Would that be more polite? What's ruder, accepting what may just have been an offer made out of politeness or refusing one that was meant genuinely?]

Cobypeople tripping over it. So he makes do. Mostly, though he stands in the hold, tall enough so he can lean his arms on the deck without having to support his weight and plays solitaire, sips sake or tea, snoozes or otherwise reads a worn book he may have had Smoker pilfer from Coby's room.]no subject
[He was playing solitaire on the deck, poked out of the holding. walking over she came near by, crouching down to hug both arms over her knees and watched his game a moment.]
Is it always like this? [things seemed... calm out here. A bit slow. She knew they were sailing to something that would be a bit more troubling, but... for the most part it was an icebreaker her pathetic attempt to start a conversation. God, she was bad with people, so this is her trying.]

Like this. Calm. Nothing but blue and clouds out there. Captain of the ship playing solitaire on the deck. I keep hearing about people and problems and pirates, or how reckless it is out here. [she rested her arms on her knees where she crouched, seeming... comfortable.] So far it seems kind of... nice out here.
no subject
It's calm until it isn't.
[between storms, pirate attacks, none of the above, or all of the above-- life on the sea could be fairly chaotic]

I need you to move your chair, sir. This part of the deck needs to be mopped.

This Spade may be a problem. [he may be speaking metaphorically. He may be not. He may just be annoyed that yet another spade has turned up in his game with no where to put it]
