Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

Who: Anyone going to the Corsair Island Masquerade Ball!
Where: ...IDK?
When: April 26th - 27th (Early AM)
What: The Masquerade Ball + Ambush (12am)
Warnings: D for dancing, V for violence, A for Ace, L for Luffy
Style: Action or prose.
Status: Open to anyone attending!

There are going to be two main threads. One for the ball itself and the other for the Ambush! There will be an obligatory third thread for FASHION. Just remember to tag your muse in the subject header and OTA or 'Closed to ???' as you comment.

No, I'm the type that hunts rabbits by setting their dens and their surroundings on fire and smash whichever gets lucky enough to escape.

If it's finesse what you want, though, I can do that too. Though some would say that it's better when I'm straight forward about it.

[Some crazy people think that locking others in their own minds, trapped in an eternal nightmare composed of their most terrible fears, some of which they may not have been aware of, until their nerves are destroyed due horror and shock followed by their minds cracking leaving only a breathing lump of meat is worse than just killing them. Figures.]

That's not like him. He probably has some plan he's worried about.

[Children usually don't plan ahead, so if there's something he wants to succeed, it could explain why he's anxious. L-Elf probably should have been paying closer attention to him, so he makes a note to do so in the future.]

Well he DID want me to keep our 'date' a secret... Do you think he has some surprise planned for me?

Elissa shook her head to clear it of the old memories and, with a dark frown, began darting back and forth across the corridor to touch each of the few doors. Hot. Hot. Warm. Warm. Damn.

With a grimace, she looked back at Lenalee and then gestured to the doors at the end of the corridor that led to the upper terrace. "Outside, it seems - with hope there are none with rifles on the ground."

"Indeed," Elissa murmured with renewed interest in the woman. She watched her for a few more moments until she vanished to the other side of the room in the whirl of dancers.

"Did you get her name?" Because that might be a household that needs a late night visit in the future.

"True enough - though that work frightens me far less than my ..." She trails off as she realizes she was about to divulge far too much to this masked stranger. Instead, Elissa offers the plate to the Tyrant, adding, "Another?"

She nodded slightly, she had started to wonder why she wanted to know and not just go find them and talk to them herself.

"I do, but maybe you would like to talk to her as well."

"Though given our luck, I bet you there is."

Lenalee quickly moved towards the door, going to kick it down should it need it. Once that way practically out of the way, she knew what to do next.

"Let's keeping going, I think we're nearly outside at least. All that we'll probably have to do next is find a way down."

Very suddenly, Elissa grinned. "She disappeared into the crowd, so I shall have to find her," was pointed out with a laugh. She offered placed the rest of her plate of tidbits upon a nearby table.

"It was nice to meet you. Enjoy the ball!"

Fresh air and a cooler temperature awaited them on the other side of the door. "I know where we are," Elissa suddenly said as she bolted forward. There were columns stretching upward from the floor to support the overhang of the roof. "We're over the terrace where Haytham and I tried to talk, earlier. This is the balcony. If we go... left, we should find some stairs leading down the outside of the building!"

Unfortunately, the cadence of feet running in formation could be heard coming from that direction. To the right? Flickering flames. Elissa ran forward to look over the edge of the railing. "It isn't that far down, I suppose..."

Below them sounded a scream and then a few shots. Partygoers were fleeing the building and running toward the waterfront. One man was assisting an elderly gentleman with a limp while calling out, "Sean! Jamie!" Jonas stopped his searching long enough to hand the man over to a pair of Navy men who helped him onward.

That's unfortunate.

[She paused, thinking about the last thing she remembered upon leaving Nerima.]

I was on my way to hopefully get married.

[Her face fell, but she waved the gloominess away before staring up at Ragna.]

We're not dancing, so there must be something else that we could do.

Probably. You could find out what if you press him on it.

[He doesn't seem like the type who can keep a secret for long.]

[Well, assuming the comment about his clothes isn't absolutely fake, he supposes that Saori would be proud of his wear choice then. Which is good. Probably.]

You flatter me, madam, but thank you. I hope you won't find me as too rude if I confess that your dress looks lovely on you, it's simplicity is refreshing among so many cluttered ones.

Lenalee had made her way to the edge looking over and studying the ground. It seemed easy enough and she saw a certain spot that would be the best idea to try and jump towards.

"Okay, shall we jump at the count of three?" She asked as she once more kept her eyes open for any possible distraction or navy.

Oh? [That's a bit different than how she interpreted it the first time--so they do have an energy, it's just easy to read? Not distinguishable? What does that mean for her, then? She wasn't intending to set herself apart from the others...what could Sasuke have possibly picked up on? Codi gives him a conspiring squint.] That...sounds like a lot of people on my world, too, when you put it like that. Personal "energy" isn't something most people worry about.

How much different is a king from an emperor from a Tyrant?

[Amusing, yeah. Definitively not a good reason for him, especially when she hasn't stated who she belongs to either. Why should he be any different?

No, definitively not answering that. He takes another sip and the music changes, initiating another song and catching his attention. His eyes move around, noticing a couple of eyes on them, though most probably they are just passing glances.]

Would you like to dance?

*Finally, this guy was suggesting something perfectly normal and, to be honest, expected. Sure enough he wasn't the most forward or friendly guy she'd met all night, but he'd warm round to her eventually she knew, and that involved asking to dance*

Well, thank you, yes. I thought you'd never ask...

Most people on your world. [He corrects her with a shrug, but then makes a gesture that vaguely indicates her mask.] You have something that's altering your natural energy, though. It's almost like an illusion, but it's not the same as what we'd create.

[Ace stood up and walked with Bonnie to the actual hall. The conversations were brimming and he had to raise his voice a measure, but he was fairly good at talking with a raise in his voice that didn't catch everyone's attention unless he wanted it to.]

So, do you want to start out easy? I can point out a few officers for you.

[Ace didn't miss a beat. 'Teaching' and 'torture' were the same things to him, easily.]

Ehhh. I don't think Gramps gets along with anybody. I've never heard good things about him from officers. Mostly just talk about how strong he is.

"Jeez, what's wrong?" Ace maintained his smile, but he was a little concerned that he might have dipped her a little too quickly. Rookie mistake, really. If the blood rushed to and from her head too quickly, fainting wouldn't have been too surprising.

"Did I dip too quickly?"

We beat anyone who tries to fight us! Ahhh, but logistically-- [Ace punched another soldier in the face, bowling the poor guy over into a row of other Marines.]

Territory! If you surround a territory even if it's unclaimed, then it's essentially your territory! So, we're surrounding this place so they can't make it to the shipyard!

That's what we have our backs to!

Anyone who isn't in the know probably shouldn't be coming to a party hosted by the Marines, I think.

[He said this fairly dryly in comparison.]

It's kinda beggin' for trouble.

Ahhh, well, it's gonna have to end eventually. When they decide to man up and fight, it's gonna go back to the status quo.

[He didn't have to remind her of that, but it seemed like the only response he had in him. Ace wasn't one for fancy dinner parties, but he liked playing the part of the gentleman, because it was a funny way to act.]

I already know which people I'm knockin' out with my Color, so the rest is just gonna be a bunch of fist-fights.
