It'll be done when it's done.

[Flips some steaks over.]

Luffy gets first dibs, though, and you know how that goes.

[You might have to wait for Sanji to cook a whole second feast if Luffy black holes this shit up.]

[but those steaks look sooooo gooooood. Sigh.]

Guess that means I won't be eating anytime soon.

[at least he has his booze. Flopping back down in a chair to lounge and dry off after Adventures With Luffy.]

[Gives him a sideways glance and then rolls his eyes, before slicing off a portion of one of the steaks and sliding it to the end of the grill. He doesn't point it out, but if Zoro notices he's free to take it. There's forks on the table nearby.]

Why the hell are you all wet?

Luffy dragged me into the pool.

[and by dragged he clearly means he went willingly and had fun, because he doesn't at all sound put-out by being dunked.]

Though...I guess that means I should probably do something about these bandages. [which are also soaked, and maybe hanging loose around his shoulder]

[Hadn't noticed that, but of course now he's scowling and setting down his knife and tongs in favor of turning to look at Zoro DISAPPROVINGLY.]

You think? Geez, you idiot, get Bepo to fix those! Or bring me some new bandages and I'll do it, the last thing we need is you getting some kind of shitty infection!

All right, geez!

[he has no idea where Bepo is, though, so guess what, Sanji? It's your turn! Supplies are apparently easier to find than wandering crew off having fun...he's probably with Luffy anyway.

Zoro's back with a roll of clean bandages, right at Sanji's shoulder]

You got a minute to do it?

[Spares him a glance before eyeing the food. Yeah, he's got time.]

I might even have two.

[Nods toward the table.]

Sit.

[plunks down and starts pulling at the sodden bandages, trying to work them away from his wounds]

...thanks.

[Ew, soggy bandages. His nose wrinkles a bit but he doesn't say anything, instead just peering at Zoro's wound as it's unwrapped.]

It looks better, at least. Stitches are still intact.

[they're even more gross when you touch 'em. He drops them on a pile on the ground and sits quietly to let Sanji do the work]

So I didn't pop any from all the fighting? Good.

[he stretches a bit, moving his arm around just to be sure.]

It's gonna scar, isn't it?

[Leans over a bit, reaching out to run his fingers carefully over his shoulder and prodding lightly at the area surrounding the injury but avoiding touching it directly.]

Mm...probably. But that ain't anything new for you.

[Drops down near him, grabbing the bandages so he can get started.]

[being touched so gently, by the cook of all people, makes him look shyly away]

Chopper would make sure it didn't scar.

[it's a statement, no judgment. More a lament that he misses Chopper than any kind of complaint about Bepo. Because Bepo is great, but he's not an expert yet. Zoro's scars are from other people treating him, after all.]

Maybe.

[But he's not here, and they're lucky Bepo is. Sanji's respect for him keeps growing in leaps and bounds. First with...the poison soup incident in January. And now this. He saw how hard Bepo worked to get Zoro (and Luffy) cleaned up, and how worried he was he wouldn't be able to do it...

Sanji works quietly for a moment, wrapping the bandages around Zoro and having to continuously lean in to reach around him. Every so often he pauses to make sure they're secure, but not too tight, and it's during one of those breaks that he looks up with a teasing grin.]

Don't tell me you're suddenly self-conscious about being all marked up.

It's just annoying, is all.

[his scars are a road map of his progress, to a point. He's also gotten used to coming out scar-free from the worst of his battles.

His eye goes to Sanji's hard work, and then his grin.]

It's not the good kind of marks, anyway.

[Just hums a little.]

Be kinda weird if I had to bandage you up for those kind of marks.

I don't think you'd ever get that carried away.

[though, there's an undertone there that might suggest that he'd like to try and see if they can. Shame they're in such a public place, he's rather distracted by those nimble fingers wrapping him up.]

[His grin morphs into more of a smirk.]

That a challenge?

[He's nearly done now, but slows so he has the excuse to stay close like this for a minute longer.]

Might be.

[he tips his head downward as if to watch, but it's more to maintain the close contact for as long as he can. Before anyone notices]

[Yeeeah, before anyone notices -- that's what finally has Sanji sitting back, his hand lingering for a moment after he finishes bandaging Zoro up, before he pats him twice on the shoulder...probably not as gently as he should.]

Then I might just have to take you up on it.

[Then he scoots away a little and focuses on lighting up a new smoke.]

[Ow, dammit. He didn't mean play rough now.

He huffs a deep breath to cool himself down and stretches his shoulder again before sliding off his seat and going to find that steak he saw cut for him earlier]

Guess we're gonna have to make some time, then. Obviously not here.

[Looks over at him, raising an eyebrow.]

Obviously not here? What, did you piss off half the island somehow? There's plenty of towns and shit, isn't there?

Oi, it's not my fault they decided to outlaw swords the other day. I hadn't even drawn one before that.

[om nom steak. At least now if Luffy eats the rest of it, he'll have gotten a taste]

Think we can travel to one without an entourage?

...So you're saying that after they outlawed swords, you decided to whip 'em out?

[Why you gotta be an idiot like that, marimo.

Sanji rolls his eyes, standing up to go check on the food which conveniently puts him closer to Zoro again.]

Eh...maybe? ...But probably not. It'd at least have to wait till tomorrow anyway.

Well, yeah. They said swords were weak.

[glancing at Sanji as he comes alongside him] ...yeah, not today. It's Luffy's birthday. [and he'd never abandon his captain on his special day, no way.]
