Manly Drinking Times

Who: Marco, Thatch, Logan, Namur, Roxas, Vyse, Chandra, Natsuno, and anyone else who wants in on this drinking game
Where: The Sun! And the Moon! And all the ships in between
When: Sunday May 4th, pursuant to this hilarity
What: MANLY DRINKING TIMES
Warnings: Ehhhhh ARRRRR For Rum. And drinking. And war. And fuck who knows what else, remind me to update if needed.
Status: OPEN!!!

Marco quickly set up a couple of kegs at the ready for the drinking party. Because it was just plain necessary, and a lot like old times. The last two weeks were still weighing on Marco's mind. War, Peace, phoenixes. Was it a good idea to really enjoy war so much? Was it a bad one? Maybe it was inevitable, so he might as well enjoy it. Like life, right? Or should he not encourage it just because it was amusing?

It was too much of a headache, that's why he was just going to drink.

He also set up some non-alcoholic drinks for Leanne and everyone else. Green tea, fruit juices, but they were all clearly marked.

Marco gave a quick piercing whistle. "OI SPADES! Roll call and drinking games!"

And maybe drunk board games, he would blame that on Ace though.

Nope! in fact you're right on time

The movement drew his attention, better to use that over the boisterous crowd than to try and call out from across the way. Of course Mako’s table was sparse, he wasn’t the best company to have when everyone was set on getting tanked. Well, almost everyone.

"Hey, Nami." The mermaid’s lack of alcohol is definite plus, he was getting tired of the smell permeating the room. "Not my kind of party." But really, he wasn’t the party type in general. "Need a seat?" She was floating just a bit off the floor, so he was sure if sitting would even matter to her.
feetarestrange: (afraid to get your feet wet?)

well how did that happen

[personal profile] feetarestrange 2014-05-12 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Sure."

Without the armor she typically wore around her waist, it was relatively easy for her to have a seat, even if it meant that her tail would end up touching the wooden planks. Said tail was also long enough that her fin was coming out from underneath the table, though she was considerate enough to not end up touching Mako's legs.

"It's a bit much for me, too. But I thought I'd stick around for a little bit." She noticed the cup and couldn't help but ask, "What are you drinking?"
streetferret: (Serious: Wait a sec...)

shhh, magic

[personal profile] streetferret 2014-05-12 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Tea. Not exactly like it is from my home, but it's the closest they have."

He glanced down, still not completely used to her tail; not yet. Taking in a breath of his steaming cup, Mako took a sip and then set it back down on the table.

"Was there anything you're used to from your world?" He eyed the fruit juice for a moment. What would a creature living in the ocean drink, or would they even have to? Questions he never thought he'd be asking himself.
feetarestrange: (this is minnows play)

I believe in magic

"I've seen a few of the beverages before. Right now I'm just trying out some of the juice." It was like water, but with flavor! And sometimes with sugar instead of salt. "Haven't had much of the tea, though. Is it good?" She asked, noticing that Mako was looking a little distracted at the moment.

Knowing what he kept looking at, Nami lifted her tailfin up from the floor for a moment.

"Do you like it that much?" She didn't need alcohol to be in a joking mood.
streetferret: (Serious: Blah blah blah)

[personal profile] streetferret 2014-05-14 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Oops. He put up his hand and gave the smallest shake of his head.

"Sorry. Still used to feet and legs." Even if it was a joke, he felt awkward about being half-caught.

Which was why he decided to just give a quick overview of tea. "Depends on how you like it. There’s a lot of flavors, and some people even add sugar because it’s too bitter." He tapped his cup with a finger. "Like this kind." One he didn't mind. He didn't exactly have room to be picky growing up.

Nami briefly looked at the cup. There wasn't really much tea to be had underwater, after all. "It already sounds better than the stuff everyone else is drinking." She was probably never going to be a fan of alcohol on the surface world, though wasn't too troubled by that.

"I might have to try it."
streetferret: (Ass check)

[personal profile] streetferret 2014-05-19 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Preferring to give tea a chance over alcohol; Mako likes the cut of her jib. And if there’s one thing Mako’s used to, it’s doing things for others. "Sure. No time like now." Before the others end up knocking it over and spilling it in some drunken revelry.

It doesn’t take Mako long to fill up another cup of tea and slides it over in front of Nami as he sits down. Luke warm, but he heats it easily enough to make it hot.

“Just sip carefully or you’ll burn yourself.” If she could get burned, there was a ton of things about mermaids that his brain didn’t know how to answer.
feetarestrange: (Sure as the tides)

She looked on as the tea is poured out. Even something as ordinary as that had managed to catch her interest. As Nami grabbed the cup, she lifted it up and brought it... rather close to her face.

She looked at it, while also taking in the smell. As she glanced at Mako, the mermaid nodded and carefully had a taste.

The verdict?

"I like it."
streetferret: (Surprised: You have three WHAT?)

[personal profile] streetferret 2014-05-21 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
He had almost expected her to spit it out. Green tea had a strong flavor and wasn’t nearly as sweet as some of the drinks this world had to offer.

“Yeah?” Keeping the surprise out of his voice was difficult, and he didn’t try that hard in the first place. “If we make port soon I’ll see about picking up a few other leaves for brewing.”

Yep, made from leaves.

“Did you go to the ball back at Corsair?”
feetarestrange: (Sure as the tides)

[personal profile] feetarestrange 2014-05-25 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Thanks."

It was unusual, and did taste rather... bitter? Yeah, that was the word she had been looking. Though even so, she didn't necessarily hate it. She would just continue to take small sips at a time, letting herself get more used to the taste.

"Not really. I can't really disguise myself as a human all that well."

Fins and a tail would've been that pretty difficult.

"I didn't mind staying with the ship, though."
streetferret: (Serious: Five Point Palm Exploding Heart)

[personal profile] streetferret 2014-05-26 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Mako made only the slightest shake of his head at her thanks. It gave him something to do, and he was always on the lookout for that.

A little self chiding for not thinking of that, of course she wouldn’t have been able to be a part of Ace’s surprise attack. "I didn’t either." Staying with the ship meant Mako was able to mostly keep to himself, and that was his cup of tea. So to speak.

Until they needed to escape anyway.

"I’m ready to get back to looking for those shards. The ball was a waste of time." Focused as usual.
feetarestrange: (do not force my hand)

[personal profile] feetarestrange 2014-05-30 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Me too." She stopped drinking her tea to look at all the festivities that were still going on.

"Seeing the rest of the crew enjoying themselves like this isn't bad." That's how Nami felt about it, at least.

"But parties aren't going to help us get home any faster."
streetferret: (It was me. I burned those cds.)

[personal profile] streetferret 2014-05-30 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Mako gave a passive look at the rest of the party, looking at it as a whole instead of taking each person in individually.

"No, they’re not. It feels like I haven’t seen the city in years, but it’s only been a few months."
feetarestrange: (afraid to get your feet wet?)

[personal profile] feetarestrange 2014-06-03 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Are there a lot of cities in your world?" Nami asked. Having been exposed to the surface world back in Runeterra, she already had an idea of what to expect. What she'd seen here... Comparatively speaking, it was a little underwhelming.

"I can't really tell too many buildings apart, especially when they're all together like that."
streetferret: but your mother's a whore (I can't remember how it ends)

[personal profile] streetferret 2014-06-03 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, there's quite a few. Republic City's one of the biggest ones. Some of the poorer districts can be cramped and noisy, but it's really great when you can see it from the bay. Live there long enough, and you'll know where everything is."

He took a sip from his tea and shook his head. "It's not without it's problems though. The crime rate's pretty high, the gang wars almost never stop and that's without the whole equalist revolution or what the spirit of darkness did to the place."
feetarestrange: (ride upon the waves)

[personal profile] feetarestrange 2014-06-08 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Nami listened closely. Strange as it all was, she enjoyed hearing what the surface dwellers had to say about their world and homes. "The spirit of darkness?" She asked, her attention caught by that in particular.

"What did it do?"
streetferret: (It was me. I burned those cds.)

[personal profile] streetferret 2014-06-08 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Aside from trying to bring ten thousand years of darkness and destroying the world?" Mako's sarcasm was light with the rhetorical question.. "There are two great spirits. Raava: spirit of light and peace and Vaatu: spirit of darkness and chaos. Vaatu tried to destroy Republic City, he did a lot of damage before he was stopped by Korra. Don't know if it ever got cleaned up, I woke up at Isla Empieza not too long after that."
feetarestrange: (I'll find my path)

[personal profile] feetarestrange 2014-06-12 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
Well, she wanted to know, and boy did she get an answer. "At least he was defeated, I think that's the more important part." It would've been hard to rebuild that a city that wasn't even standing anymore. "Humans are pretty determined, so I think your city is going to be alright."
streetferret: (Serious: Cracking a case)

[personal profile] streetferret 2014-06-14 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, but we can be pretty stupid too." He shrugged his shoulders before finishing off the last of his tea. "Maybe I’ll get to find out about Republic City some day. I’ve heard that some of the pirates have gone home for a few days, so who knows." He’d like to hope for a glimpse of home, but in reality Mako wasn’t about to hold his breath.
