INTRO LOG: MAY 2014

WELCOME NEW CHARACTERS!
Have an intro log for the month of May!

Who: Any and all new characters, as well as anyone hanging out on or around Isla Empieza!
Where: Near the fountain in the town center.
When: New characters will arrive around May 10th! The log is good for as long as you need it.
What: You've just been dropped on your head in a weird new world. Time to figure out what the heck is going on!
Status: VERY OPEN.

It's a brilliant May day, with blue skies and a soft breeze as you wake up. Everything about the otherwise grubby pirate port you are in speaks of spring. There are flowers surrounding the fountain, draping in colorful garlands over railings and balconies and tucked into all corners. There is a certain cheerfulness to it all and those in Empieza seem friendly and welcoming (to those who've been there before, they are far more pleasant than usual).

Feel free to throw your characters here if you need a place for them to get situated and start figuring things out! Start new threads, tag into others, meet the people who might just become part of your crew! Older characters will be in and out, too, depending who is on the island at the current time.

"Hm...Well, that's all very strange business, I'm afraid it's all pretty over my head. I suppose I'll have to find others can have been here for a little longer, perhaps they can give me more answers."

He also hears some small coins fall out of the folds of the book, looking at them carefully.

"What are these?"

Haruta glanced down to them, then moved to waggled the little pouch at her belt. Cling clink.

"Near as I can figure? Local currency. Doesn't look like Beli but it's no doubt coin anyhow." Man, you don't know currency?

[tofu_tiger]

"What's currency?"

[haruta_xii]

"Money?" She asked, as if this seemed odd that he didn't get it. Tiger, right. Huh. "To buy things?"

[tofu_tiger]

He cocked his heads to the side for a moment.

"...Buy?"

[haruta_xii]

She gives him a look that says this is starting to look like a lost cause. Right. A tiger. Okay.

"Maybe you don't need to worry about that kind of thing. Just keep them with you, big guy."

[tofu_tiger]

"Well, if you say so. This place has an awful lot of rules to learn, hm?"

[haruta_xii]

Huh, he calls these rules? "Where are you from that this seems like a lot of rules?" Bluntly, because at the moment, for being a pair of supposed pirates, no ones taking shots at them, and everyone is running.

Seems normal to her.

"Animal's tend to live in simple groups, without all of these complications."

[haruta_xii]

She couldn't help but smile at that. Takign a chance she reached out to give him a small scratch and pat to the top of the head, before drawing back. "Welcome to the sea then, my friend. Have you got a name? I'm Haruta."

The rest of her title being the twelfth division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates... was left off. Simply speaking about Pops tended to drop her mood back to zero.

He lowers his head a bit to make it easier, making a low, pleased growl under her hand. Given the size of his frame, that low growl alone is enough to vibrate up through her feet.

"My territory was always away from the water, save for a few local watering holes. Come to think of it, I don't think I've been to the ocean until now. Tarouza told me about it, sometimes."

Oh good, he liked pets. She could feel the ruble and everything. That was kind of cool.

"No? I think I basically was born on the water." Well, no, not quite, but raised on it for sure. "Not much of a land lover, myself."

[tofu_tiger]

"Really?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow, "I thought all humans were born on land. You're not very well built for the water."

[haruta_xii]

That brought a hearty laugh from Haruta, hands drawn back to rest on her hips. "You're right. I suppose we're not built for the sea, but it's my home. Raised all my life on her waters. We use ships, in case you were wondering."

She's wondering if he's going to ask what a ship is.

As if on cue.

"Ah, I see. What's a ship?"

[haruta_xii]

She barked a laugh at that, cus she called it already. Her hand came out again, this time staying to pet his head. He's just a big dumb adorable cat. So much to teach him.

"To sail the seas you need a vessel. A ship. Or a boat, sometimes. Big wooden tub that floats on the water and takes you to places? Follow your nose to the sea and you'll see a few."

"Ah, yes! Like how a duck floats, yes?"

[haruta_xii]

"Yes. Like that. Only, the duck is huge, and carried... well, people. Creatures. Things."

[tofu_tiger]

"I see. Interesting. Well, I suppose I'll have to get used to the idea."
