INTRO LOG: MAY 2014

WELCOME NEW CHARACTERS!
Have an intro log for the month of May!

Who: Any and all new characters, as well as anyone hanging out on or around Isla Empieza!
Where: Near the fountain in the town center.
When: New characters will arrive around May 10th! The log is good for as long as you need it.
What: You've just been dropped on your head in a weird new world. Time to figure out what the heck is going on!
Status: VERY OPEN.

It's a brilliant May day, with blue skies and a soft breeze as you wake up. Everything about the otherwise grubby pirate port you are in speaks of spring. There are flowers surrounding the fountain, draping in colorful garlands over railings and balconies and tucked into all corners. There is a certain cheerfulness to it all and those in Empieza seem friendly and welcoming (to those who've been there before, they are far more pleasant than usual).

Feel free to throw your characters here if you need a place for them to get situated and start figuring things out! Start new threads, tag into others, meet the people who might just become part of your crew! Older characters will be in and out, too, depending who is on the island at the current time.

It took a moment before Jean registered that someone was speaking to her; she had been standing stock-still in the middle of this town, overwhelmed by the sheer amount of life here bustling around her. All the voices in her head...

When she turned to face the other woman her wide eyes were slightly glazed, and her voice was almost a whisper.

"...What?"

"Um, hey." Mona Lisa waved at her. "I just made it here and, well..." Though even with all her questions, as she looked on, there was something else she wanted to ask.

"You alright?"

Jean stared at her for so long it might have looked as if she wasn't going to answer.

"Are we dead?" she finally breathed. It made the most sense. Wasn't she supposed to be dead? Hadn't Logan...

That was one heck of a question to ask from out of nowhere. "I don't think so. I'm pretty sure I would've remembered something like that happening to me." And the whole place sure didn't look like any sort of afterlife she knew.

"What's got you thinking that?"

"Because it's the last thing I remember." Her hand went to her midsection, feeling the rips still in her clothing. Neat puncture wounds from Logan's claws. But if she wasn't dead...

"Where are we?"

"I have no idea, sorry. I'm kind of a city girl." It sounded like she was having the same problems as her, maybe even more if she thought they were all dead.

"Name's Mona Lisa, by the way. Nice to meet you." She held out a hand for her. May as well be friendly, yeah?

Jean blinked at the gesture, but took the lizard girl's hand gingerly. Even smiled a little.

"Jean. I'm sorry... this is a lot to take in all at once."

"Tell me about it." She gave her a smile, or as good a one she could muster in this mess. "This is my second time being kidnapped, actually. I kind of wish it'd stop happening to me, you know?"

It was very disorienting, to say the least.

"This happened to you before?" Maybe this had to do with being a mutant after all; she could see any number of fringe groups being interested in a girl like this.

"Where are you from, Mona Lisa?"

"Well, not this exactly. It was a while back. I was on an ocean trip with some friends and ended up getting kidnapped by a pirated named Captain Filch. He was a pretty nasty guy, let me tell you." And had kind of soured her opinion on pirates to begin with.

"Oh, I'm from New York, actually. How about you?"
