He's an adult. He's a lot bigger and stronger than me. I don't really know how to punch him no...but I'll do my best.

[He's not going to meet Tatsumi here, but he shrugs and lets Ikki take his hand.]

[Ikki watches and frowns, it's not an annoyance frown but a thoughtful one. After a moment he shakes his head and moves closer, taking Natsuno's hand and closing it in a fist, not the way the boy had done it, but in a way that won't end hurting himself.]

That's only going to work if you want to make a girl cry.

First of all, if you punch like that you're going to end hurting yourself, you have to close it like this, so no finger is under your knuckles, nor the nails dig into your palm. Also, your body must not be rigid as you punch, it has to move with it so there's a bit more strength to it. And your feet have to be like this, you have to switch your weight from the back to the front as you punch and then quickly change it back to punch again.

[As Ikki goes on about the positioning, he tries to guide Natsuno to put his body the "proper" way. Which is nothing but the way it works for Ikki, and that's enough in his book.]

[Natsuno swings his right fist at the mast, trying to remember everything Ikki said but he can't really do it the way Ikki described. It feels strange.]

It's important that you learn to punch that way, because it gives you extra strength and against an adult you need all the strength you can get. Even an untrained one won't go down easily if you don't aim for it.

[He moves, taking a step to the right of his initial position to hit a different part of the mast. Then he positions himself the way he told Natsuno, he retracts his fist and puts all his weight in the back before quickly shifting it to the front, swinging his upper body along his arm as he throws a punch. This time the punch is clearly stronger, the hit's sound resounding loudly and the wood in the mast cracking slightly, when Ikki moves his fist away the mark left is pretty clear and easy to notice.

He turns to Natsuno smiling widely and proudly.]

It uses all the strength your body has and a bit more! See? And I didn't even concentrate that hard.

I see that, but somehow I think you're quite a bit stronger than I am. I don't think I can dent any wood, Ikki.

[Natsuno sounds a little amused. Wow, Ikki was insanely strong even when he was a kid!]

Pfff, do you think I was born strong? I have been punching things and people since I was younger than you! I'm strong just because I've trained and practiced every day for years. If you do it too you will eventually get strong enough to dent the wood as well.

Shun's the same, he likes to stand there and say "I can't do it, Ikki" or "I don't get why I need to learn to punch, Ikki", it's so annoying. Of course you're not going to get strong or learn to punch if you don't practice, life doesn't give you anything good for free. That only happens with the bad stuff.

[Well, Natsuno hasn't really said the same things as Shun did, but to Ikki it all sounded the same. And neither Shun nor Natsuno are really in a situation in which they really can get by without learning so Ikki's not going to give up on that.]

I suppose I can't argue with that.

[It isn't going to hurt to try again and punch the mast. He's certainly far from denting it, but as he tries his form seems to get a little bit better.]

Good! See? You get a bit better the more you try it.

[At least he's encouraging.]

Yeah, I think I understand that Ikki.

[He stops after a moment, shaking his hands a bit. It's a little painful to punch repeatedly.]
