05/21 will be the end of the official scuttling of the Charming Murderess near Scorpion Reef and we'll have to start using the new Galleon (and name her!) from then on. The Hey! Listen! is still intact and usable. As we sail away, remember to watch out for scorpions and get ride of them.

05/26 Link Jr. returns from his canon update in a 17yr-old-body with the Master Sword strapped across his back.

05/28 - 06/04(dates negotiable) Stopping on Manila for a library visit.

[Just rolls his eyes, because he's nothing if not a brat. He's certainly not going to concede anything.]

Right, well, my goal is to eventually turn an entire Navy ship into a ballet showcase.

Could you cast it at the entire ship at once?

[He sounds doubtful. The spell looked like it needed a clear line of sight at the very least.]

If I had a clear shot at them all.

I could fly to the mast on their ship and cast my spell at will. Or stay on my broom and do it, even. If I put up a shield charm, which of course I would, they wouldn't be able to fire at me.

Could you choreograph them or would they dance around randomly?

[The wheels in his head are turning. Anything and everything can be integrated into his strategies and the more variables he can control, the more he can influence the outcome of a situation.]

...No. I couldn't choreograph them.

[Scratches under his chin with his wand.]

At least, not with that spell. It's only designed to cause your legs to flail about like a mad person. But...there are other spells. One that controls the will of a person entirely, so that you can make them do whatever you want. It's very illegal, though.

[Pause.]

And not a spell that I know.

You should learn it. It would give us a better advantage than having our enemies dancing around randomly with no control.

[Frowns a little and looks away.]

It's one of the three Unforgivable Curses. I do know the incantation, but I've never attempted to cast it before. Though I'm sure there's more to it than just pointing my wand and saying some words.

Why would there be? It probably doesn't work any differently than your other spells. You've just been discouraged from using it because it would give you too much power over other people. If it's something that will give us an advantage in combat, we should use it.

[As much as he doesn't like having his own will taken away from him, he won't hesitate to devise strategies that involve others having their will taken from them. In fact, many of the strategies he'd devised during his tenure as military liaison to New JIOR were centered around exactly that.]

Yes, and all my other spells involve more than just pointing my wand and saying some words. Why on earth would we even go to school to learn magic if all you had to do was pick up a book and read a word off the page? There's pronunciation, wand movements, willpower, magical strength... I'm not discouraged, you see, I imagine if it was necessary, I'd use it -- if I knew I could do it. But I don't think it's likely you'll let me practice on you, hm?

[He gives him a long appraising look.]

Under supervision and under the understanding that I'll kill you if you make me do anything stupid, I'd consider it. It would give us a useful weapon against the Navy and I'm used to a similar arrangement.

[As much as he isn't looking forward to it, it's unlikely any of the rest of the crew will agree to the idea. What they need is a test subject from outside the crew.]

Are you capable of erasing memories?

Well, it's hardly any fun to control someone if you can't make them do something stupid. But fine, fine. I do think I vastly prefer living to the alternative.

[He nods at the next question.]

Of course. I can erase memories -- though that spell can go terribly wrong if performed incorrectly. But there are also spells to temporarily alter memories, as well.

Permanent is always better than temporary. If you were to practice on a member of the Navy, it won't matter if the spell goes wrong.

[He's nothing if not ruthless. Still, if Sasuke is going to continue to stubbornly refuse to kill their enemies, he's going to have to come up with as many alternatives as he can.]

[Draco is getting vaguely uncomfortable with the direction this conversation is taking, honestly. He can boast a great deal about using Dark Arts and how it isn't a big deal and people are wimps if they can't handle it, but he's not at a point yet where he's ever had to make good on his words. These are spells he thinks he would use if he had to...but the fact is, he hasn't had to. And he doesn't necessarily want to, not without good reason.

So he's just going to...not acknowledge the comment about the Navy for now.]

One of my professors ended up on the wrong end of a Memory Charm in my second year. He's a permanent resident of the Janus Thickey Ward at St. Mungo's now.

[Most of that meant absolutely nothing to him. Some sort of hospital, maybe?]

If the spell misfires, then I'll kill them.

[Unlike Draco, L-Elf has no compunctions against using deadly force and tactics others might find unconscionable. He was raised with the philosophy if "kill, don't be killed" and he has yet to find any reason to abandon it.]

You're quite a bloodthirsty sort of person then, I take it?
