Oh starry night, come and chart a course
Who: Jean Grey + any and all Spades welcome
Where: The Sun
When: Early June, soon after she's invited? I'm all for flexible timing if you are >.>
What: How about another Phoenix on board, huh guys? Huh?
Warnings: With Jean? Could be anything from unzipping your pants for you to trying to atomize you.
Style: Prose preferred
Status: Open
Despite the Phoenix's bravado on the strange journal network, Jean herself is nervous about this. Not the teleportation thing; even if something goes wrong, there probably isn't anyone here who deserves more to have her molecules scrambled across the atmosphere. Not even seeing Logan again, though she knows the Phoenix is strangely quiet about that, which worries her. No, it's being on that ship, around other people. She knows Logan can take care of himself, that he can survive her, but what about the rest of them? What if she hurts someone? Kills them?
So she takes her time before visiting the Brig, and even then she hesitates before stepping within range of what they call the Naviraimant. But where else can she go? At least if Logan is around he can stop her. Like before.
Jean takes a deep breath and steps forward; in the next instant she's enveloped in a bright white light that seems almost familiar. And in the next after that, she's on board the Sun.

"I don't know," she says honestly. "Is this the Sun?"
no subject
no subject
Not really, is what she means to say, but instead...
"Yes, actually. I'm looking for Logan. We're old friends." The way she smiles when she says that, though, means they're either very good friends, or maybe not really friends at all. Maybe something closer to enemies.
no subject
"Logan is here. Should I go tell him that you're looking for him?"
Shifting a little to put a hand on a hip, Selphie looked over the woman carefully, because she better not have any trouble in mind with Logan.
no subject
"No, that's all right. I'm guessing he'll find me soon enough. He asked me to come," she adds.

He knows when she is there and yet he lingers back. Not sure it's a good idea to be the first one to find her. If she's hurt, he'd be able to tell. And he's not far away. Not far at all. He's almost hopeful that Ikki or someone finds her first. It's Selphie though, which is also good. Maybe better.
He lingers back, keeping an ear out, but not intruding. Not until later, when he has the chance to talk to her alone. She's safe on the Sun. Safe on this ship. He also believes she'll be safe TO the ship, at least once she gets a handle of it. The last thing he wants to do is have to hurt her again.
He does however come out of hiding, when he knows she's alone. his head bowed a bit, but eyes looking up over at her. He cleared his throat, watchful. "Hello... Jean."
no subject
She steels herself. Pushes her emotions down as deep as she can. When Logan finally does show, she hopes she's not betraying too much of them.
"You really are here." Flat and neutral as she can manage.
no subject
When he did see her, and she spoke, there was a wave of relief. "I was about to say the same thing." She really was here, and this wasn't in his god damn head again. Right? He wasn't dreaming, was he?
no subject
"You should stay away from me."
no subject
He kept back a bit, and when she said that he was alsmot glad he could give her the space. "If that's what you want, Jean." He said on a breath, unsure if he was going to be okay with that. "I had to... see you though." He doesn't want to stay away from her.
no subject
"It is what I want." Up to this point she's been keeping up a good poker face, but this is a complete lie and it shows in her eyes, and the tremor in her voice.
no subject
"Jean, honey, I can avoid you as best as I can, but I can't help if you wont let me near. It's safe here. People like us." And if she didn't back off he'd come a little closer. "I aint gonna hurt ya, and I wont let you hurt anyone either."
no subject
"Oh, yeah?" Her eyes blaze with a strange, dark fire, her voice a deep growl. "How are you gonna stop me?"
no subject
"Whatever I need to do. Though I'm hoping you let me, or at least someone here, in close enough to help you from getting to a destructive level. Jeanie, it's different here. You can start over fresh here. Ya just have to give these people a chance."

Putting on a pleasant smile isn't difficult, though. Not for a fellow redhead.
"Hello there. Looking for someone?"
no subject
"... What? No. Not really. Just looking around."
no subject
She folds her arms, her posture making it clear that intruders may not be entirely welcome.
no subject
"I guess that might have been the idea." Not a great one, though.
no subject
"Alright, cool." She can accept that. "You know someone already, Red?"
no subject
"Yes."

Jean probably wouldn't be as surprised as some to see an eight foot tall shark fishman hanging out on the deck, but he might not be what she expected to find, either. There was a fishing net spread out in front of him, and he fiddled with it here and there, fixing up holes with a thick needle.
no subject
There's nobody like me.
"Jean," she says, and then eyes his handiwork. "Going fishing?" Somehow it seems incongruous.
no subject
"Namur," he nodded, sniffing the air now that she'd arrived, trying to get an idea of what she's about. "Got a hugeass crew t' feed, an' not a whole lotta space t' be storin' shit that's gonna go bad in a few weeks, y' know? 'Sides. Fish're tasty. Course y' all wouldn't know jus' how tasty cuz y' burn the life outta everythin' an' cut it all up 'fore y' eat it." He might sound just a little bit petulant. "Buuuut that's jus' how y' do, so whatever."

Being "yerself" and doing what "y'want"? She can see why Logan likes this crew. Still.
"And I doubt you'd want me to be myself."

Apparently someone had used the Naviraimant...someone Asami didn't recognize. Was it someone just visiting? Or another new recruit? well there was only one way to find out.
"Hello?" She turned her head towards Jean, but didn't stop wipping the cannonaball she picked up to wash. "Are you here to see someone?"
no subject
And the voices here, so many voices. And one in particular...
She shakes her head, distracted. "Just looking for a way off the island."
no subject
So she laid the cannon down on the wood floor and folded up the cloth, placing it in her pocket as she took a step closer in Jean's direction.
"Well if you need any help don't hesitate to ask." She paused, looking around. "I can at least try to answer any questions you have."
no subject
Let's say the 3rd?
But he was polite enough to wait until she'd at least gotten her bearings and had been there for maybe(?) a day before he approached her with a big, friendly grin while she was out on deck, "Hi there! I'm Wan. I'm not staying, but I heard you are."
Sounds good to me!
She spends a lot of her time looking out on the water. Being within sight of it comforts her somehow. So it's no surprise that's where Wan runs into her. She reluctantly drags her gaze away from the ocean to regard the boy with eyes that are still faraway.
"I'm... not sure I'm staying yet," she corrects him quietly.

Jean forces herself back to the present. She'll have time enough alone to dwell on unpleasant memories.
"I don't think they know the real me yet."
no subject
He smiled wanly before tilting his head in question at Jean's statement, "That's probably because you haven't chosen to show them it. You did only just get here, right?"

For a little bit Marco began to wonder if it was Ikki finally leaking his wrath into his cosmos, but that didn't fit. Ikki was in a better mood lately, and even if he wasn't, Ikki had more control than Marco these days. Was it his own temper? Removed and so foreign it felt like something else entirely?
So perhaps it wasn't surprising that it took Marco awhile to realize that there was a new face on the ship as well, even as he watched from above. He hopped down from his perch on a beam, and quietly examined Jean before cocking his head to the side like a bird. "Marco," he said quietly and offered her a handshake. "First mate of the Spades. Forgive my asking, but when did you arrive?"
no subject
"Just today," she says as soon as she gets her voice back. "I'm Jean." She doesn't take his hand, however, instead watching him warily.
