Just Gotta Keep Sailin The Quartz
Who: Straw Hat Pirates, possible Bloody Roses Pirates
Where: Sailing log from 7/7- 7/10, Isla de Quarzo Rosa 7/10-7/12
What: The first leg of the race
Warnings: The usual
Status: Semi-open to the Bloody Roses.
Pls date your threads.
Bloody Roses, how close we're sailing is up to you guys though probably not enough to just casually swing over without some ability. However, feel free to come encounter us at any time on the island!
Straw Hats, enjoy the veggie rain! Also remember our NPC pirates are Mama's Bone Boys who will attack us intermittently throughout the journey and send spies on board. Let's save the major boss battles til the finale, though, shall we? But otherwise, have fun!

Yohoho~ Hello there! I couldn't help but hear you humming, were you enjoying the music?
no subject
[first his mind registered the guy was asking about the music so okay, it didn't look like he was going to attack. Second, it registered....holycrap TALKING SKELETON]
W-what...?! Are you some kind of ghost?! [his first instinct was to dive under and get away, but...his curiosity was stronger than his worry and he felt compelled to stay and figure out just what this apparition was]
no subject
[As if set off by a trigger word, the skeleton began to swing two and fro on the rope, his eyeless sockets darting around, looking for whatever evil spirit could be tagging along on the Merrily. He'd had enough of all these ghosts for one afterlife.]
no subject
...never mind. Are you the guy that was playing the music?
[it felt strange to be talking to one of his opponents so casually, but oh well... This guy seemed interesting and he hadn't exactly had a serious fight when he'd met Luffy the other day either]
no subject
[Brook had effectively gone from screaming to laughing in a matter of seconds, and that wasn't even his record for such things. He did however straight himself out and gave Thash a courteous tip of his tophat in greeting.]
Ah yes, that was indeed me! I am "All-Dead Bones" Brook! Or just Brook for short~ Please, might I invite you on board? It wouldn't do to have a guest simply floating in the water beside our ship as such~
[Brook had run into fishmen before, and whomever this was seemed to enjoy a good bit of music as much as he did. How could he justify simply leaving him out in the open waters with such fiendish ghosts and ghouls about? That aside, his arms were starting to get tired and it would be easier to talk on deck rather than just hanging by a rope.]
no subject
Oh it's you. Wanna come up? [reaches down to give him a hand]
no subject
You're inviting me on your ship? [Thash gave him a skeptical look] I dunno about that. Call us rivals, opponents, enemies, whatever it doesn't matter... Our crews aren't really friends right now. So I have a hard time believing you'd really think of me as a 'guest'...how do I know this isn't some kinda trap?
[he wasn't sure but was guessing that if a straw hat showed up this close to their ship they'd probably be attacked, not welcomed. Personally he was a pretty paranoid and cautious person to begin with, so of course this seemed fishy to him...although he did tire of that line of thinking from time to time. Wouldn't it be nice if people really could get along and genuinely be as friendly as this skeleton appeared to be?]
[he also started to wonder absentmindedly if Brooke was getting tired, but then caught himself- if he was all bones, would he have any musicales to get tired?]
[after all this consideration, Thash looked up at the railing as he was spotted by yet another straw hat- Luffy. And he just instantly invited him on board as well?! Holy crap, this was a friendly lot. He stared up at Luffy incredulously] um...are you sure...?
[in his own world where he was often hunted he would never have taken up such an offer in a million years. But surprisingly his instincts were telling him that they really didn't mean him any harm, as hard as that was for him to believe]
no subject
[Some liked to say that there was no honor among pirates; that they were nothing but bloodthirsty thieves who'd stab their own mothers in the back for a profit. While that was true of some, it wasn't the mold that made a pirate...it was often that crews that crossed paths would actually help one another, sharing supplies, food, and whatever else they had on hand. Honor was in Brook's day, and even now in this new age of pirates he had been experiencing, still very important and if this fishman meant them no harm, then there was no reason to extend a discourtesy to him.]
Luffy-san should be able to help you up better than I can, I'm afraid I'm nothing but skin and bones...minus the skin~ Yohohohoho~!
[With that laugh, he began to pull himself back up the rope, quite pleased with his newest skull joke.]
no subject
no subject
joke, all kinds of suspicions ran through his mind. What if this friendliness was only a front to get people to lower their guard? What if he got captured? How was he going to explain that to his crew? Why did they seem so completely unbothered by his bizarre appearance? Those hesitating thoughts and many more tried to convince him not to go, but with another look up at Luffy, he ignored those thoughts. There wasn't even a hint of guile in that guy's eyes. Brooke didn't have any eyes but.., he got a similar vibe from the skeleton]
[besides, he'd learned to trust his instincts in his world and they almost always served him well. They could say all the friendly things in the world and make all kinds of promises and he still wouldn't believe them if he got an instinctual sense he was being tricked. But he got no such sense here... Every bit of him was telling him these two were fully genuine]
Well, ok.... Just for a bit.
[using the claws on his hands and feet, he climbed up the side of the ship until he could reach Luffy. He cautiously looked him in the eye one more time briefly before reaching up to grab his hand (hopefully the one he was not picking his nose with) and accept his help.]
no subject
Um...some assistance please? I seem to have gotten ahead of myself~ Yohohohoho~!!

no subject
What the..?! [His eyes widened and he barely managed to keep his mouth from falling open. Brooke could lose his head and just keep talking?! That was beyond amazing. He watched as Luffy casually picked the talking skull up and gave it back to Brooke. Once he was able to get over the incredible strangeness of the situation, he realized the joke Brooke had made and laughed a little but behind a webbed hand]
You guys are funny... And I mean that in a good way.
[it was certainly a pleasant change of pace from his own dry and rather dark sense of humor]
no subject
Indeed, perhaps I haven't been drinking enough milk as of late, without enough calcium I just fall to pieces!
[Brook gave a laugh, but noticed that despite feeling like he was standing the right way...all he was seeing was the open ocean. It could have just been some initial disorientation with having his head recently reattached, so he didn't think too much on it and simply turned around to face Luffy and Thash.
To him, nothing seemed out of place. To the two pirates he was facing, the would see that he'd put his head on the wrong way.]
Yohoho, I'm glad to see you're enjoying yourself! However, I'm afraid I am still unaware of your name.
[He probably wasn't going to notice his mistake for a while on his own, anyone wanna take bets on if he'd figure it out himself?]
no subject
Were we gonna play stuff? Should I get my cymbals? [he put them in the hold somewhere and it would be awesome to use them again]
no subject
[he glanced towards Luffy as he mentioned getting some cymbals] oh, so you can play a bit of music too huh? I listened to Brooke for a while and I'm impressed. He doesn't miss a beat and his voice blends really well with his music, yet it's strong enough to be easily understandable.
[he looked back towards Brooke] are you going to go back and play some more? That's fine, but if you start walking as you are now...I'm afraid you'll be headed in the wrong direction. [there was his own little attempt at lighthearted humor]
no subject
[Brook looked down and noticed that indeed, his rear end was facing the absolutely wrong direction from where it should have been.]
Oh my, how embarrassing!
[The skeleton took hold of his head and with a quick jerk, snapped it back into place with a loud crack before turning around, feeling properly oriented once more, though at Thash's praise, he put his hands to his cheeks and began to sway back and forth.]
Of course I could play more, but any more praise and I might blush!
