[and maybe some of that sea-salt ice cream too - he's never had anything like that]
Here, this looks like a good place to grab a bite. Huh, looks like you order at that window and then sit outside to eat.
no subject
[He pauses.]
But probably you should ask because I might not remember.
[He nods, it's a fine place to eat. He peers at the menu.]
no subject
[he checks his pockets for coins - he's got plenty. Any time he needs money and doesn't feel like asking Cynthia to dole some out, he just pries another diamond off the bell she gave him.
Hmm, there's a lot of fish on this menu. Not a surprise.]
Sandwiches...eh. Fried fish. Man, what I wouldn't give for a bowl of rice some days. Oho, look at that - barbecued eel and rice! Now that's what I'm talkin' about. [he glances at Roxas] Whatcha want? It's on me.
no subject
Is eel good? I never had it. Is the fried fish like the octopus that Lea fed me before?

This place ain't too bad, huh?
no subject
[He scratches his head.]
I'm trying to think if I can remember eating at a restaurant before.
no subject
[between that memory and that inexperience, he doesn't know what to do with you, Roxas.]
No way.
no subject
[He smiles though and shrugs a bit. It's a new experience that's all.]
When I was on the other ship we had a chef and Lea would make lots of sandwiches. We didn't really eat at other places before and before that Axel and I just had ice cream every day. I bought ice cream from the stand before, does that count?
no subject
Heh. It counts if you want it to count. I ain't never been to a super fancy restaurant either - roadside inns, yeah, but outside o' the court, I don't get to go out much. Back home, I mean.
no subject
Well I don't know if it does or not. Axel couldn't always come to have ice cream with me, sometimes he was away so I watched the sunset by myself.
[It sounds lonely, but he doesn't remember feeling lonely, just peaceful.]
We never do that anymore. I wonder if he'd like to sometime...
[He muses just a little bit, but right he wasn't talking about Lea at all. It's weird how his mind just took that tangent.]
I wasn't really allowed to anyway. The ice cream was a secret.

[oh look, food! The waiter brings over a tray and deposits two nice, large bowls of rice with delicious-smelling slices of broiled eel on top, and their drinks. It's the most alike to food from home that Gan Ning has seen yet, and he can't help the happy sigh that escapes him before he grabs the bowl to dig in.]
There we go! Heh! Tell me what you think, if you like it. If ya don't, I'll just eat yours.
no subject
I think I like it!
[He takes another bite and nods a bit after a moment and waves his fork at Gan Ning.]
Yeah, lot of rules in the Organization. They would put up these gates so I could go to wherever my mission was but not leave that area. Only go where they wanted me to...except for the clock tower. I'm sure Saix probably knew about it, but he let it go. Saix seemed to know everything. As long as it wasn't the castle, now that's a really boring place.
no subject
Nah, I getcha there. Castles look pretty from the outside and all, but inside, it's nothin' but boring. And don't even get me started on war-room councils! I always told 'em, just point me where to go and tell me who to hit, and I'm your man. Don't bother with the strategies and the hours 'n hours of talking.
no subject
The Castle That Never Was is really really white. Every room is white. My bed was white, the cupboard was white, the room we had to listen to Xemnas go on and on about nonsense was also white. It's kind of boring.
[He thinks a little bit.]
No one tells me any plans, they just tell me what to do. Or they did before.
[He looks a little distant all of a sudden.]
If Xemnas was here...
no subject
[Peers at him, at that last bit.]
...what, somebody who gives you orders?
no subject
No. Not anymore, not since I left. He'll probably eliminate me or do...something else. He'll find me, no matter where I am.
[He chews his bottom lip. He's actually very distressed about this. Roxas shakes his head a little and answers the first question.]
I'm not sure what would make it dirty. None of us had anything, at least, I don't think so. I didn't really see anyone else's room though.
no subject
no subject
He's not a good person. I can't let anyone get involved with him. If he came here...I would...
[He would do what? His lips draw down into a frown.]
There's a lot of things I want to do to him. I'm really mad at him. More than anyone else. At least...at least Lea sort of knew what was going on.
no subject
So it's personal. Gotcha. I don't interfere in other people's personal fights. But, hey, don't underestimate your ol' captain. I ain't the terror of the Jiangdong for nothin'.
no subject
Yeah, yeah it's really personal. I don't...when I look at Lea and how he is and the way he is now...he's not the same as he used to be. Axel was different. Facing Xemnas, fighting him or doing something worse then that...
[Because honestly, he wanted the man to feel pain, feel the same amount of pain he'd caused Roxas.]
I don't think it's the kind of thing someone with a heart should do. When Lea was trying to do things like before I think it was hurting his heart.
no subject
Even people with hearts can be cruel. Hell, it probably makes it worse - to be able to put that aside in order to...what? Torture people? I've known more'n my share of warlords who'd kiss their wife and then turn around and do unspeakable things to a prisoner. But, no, I getcha.
'sides, personal is personal. It's a man's fight.
no subject
[He shakes his head a bit.]
Don't worry. Xemnas doesn't have a heart either. It'll be a fair fight.
[And Roxas would play fair, even if his nemesis wouldn't.]
This time the prison wasn't so bad. I mean, they were mean to me but it's a lot better than last time. A lot better.
no subject
The little bit that came through your journal sounded just like what they did to me. I don't wish it on anybody.
