I don't know whether you're giving me too much credit or not enough.

[Lea looks away, more than a little ashamed.]

It really hasn't been that long, not for me. A few months, maybe, I don't know. Not enough time to even understand how I came back, let alone figure out how to find you.

[He looks down at the floor, fragile good mood shattered.]

I told you about all the stupid stuff I did after you were gone.

[So don't think it's at all easy for him not to have you around.]

Oh yeah I know. But you're not going to try and do that again right?

[He squeezes the hand tightly. He's quiet for a moment and he leans over and presses his face against Lea's shoulder.]

If...

[He has to pause, to swallow and correct a waver in his voice.]

If you can't find me...it's okay, you know?

[Roxas takes a slow breath.]

It's okay. Because I had you here. It's almost been a year and that's the same time I knew you before. So don't...don't try anything stupid.

It's not okay. I made a promise.

[And he's not going to promise not to do anything stupid, because doing stupid things is kind of how he operates, it seems. He wants to shake Roxas and yell and say that, sure, it's easy for him to say that this time is enough, but Lea is the one who's going to have to go back to being alone after this is over. He won't accept that, and if keeping his promise means being a little reckless, then that's what he's going to have to do.]

I couldn't keep it before. I gave up. I'm not going to do that again.

[It isn't okay really, but Roxas wants Lea to be okay, whatever that takes. If Lea has made up his mind however, he probably can't change it.]

Then....then I'll wait for you.

[He can't help himself, he has to kiss Lea again. It's still chaste, but this time it's a bit harder.]

I love you. Don't die. Please.

Not in the plans this time, I promise.

[He doesn't not return the kiss, but he does gently push Roxas away when he's done and hugs him carefully against his chest.]

I'll try not to make you wait too long, okay?

Okay.

[Roxas rests his head against Lea's collarbone, sliding his good arm around him. He snuggles and makes himself comfortable. Roxas is quiet for a moment, thinking and reflecting before he speaks up again.]

While I was gone...I really missed you.

You better have.

[There was a time where any statement like that from Roxas would make him embarrassed and uncomfortable, but he's gotten so used to it by now that he can actually accept it with a smile.]

I'm irreplaceable, you know.

Yeah, you are.

[He leans against him a little heavier.]

I don't like feeling afraid. I don't like it. Make it stop.

[Maybe he's whining just a tiny bit, but if anyone can help him, it's Lea.]

Well, you're safe now, so stop.

[Lea swats him lightly on the back of the head. It's not what Roxas means, but it's about all he can do for him.]

I don't think it works like that.

[But it does get a little smile out of him and he sighs softly before shifting to make himself more comfortable which winds up being something more of a lying down position draped over Lea's legs. He finally stops squirming around, pillowing his head on his good arm.]
