Where: The quickly ruining ashes of what once was a naval base + at sea with the Spades, Luffy, and anyone coming back with Logan and Rogue // AKA: THE SUN, THE MOON, AND THE STARS!
What: Coldly angry Marco lets all the navy men go free and makes sure they have enough supplies to sail with, but makes it clear he's burning the base down into the shape of a spade "to send a message"
Warnings: UH VIOLENCE? JUSTICE LECTURES? At least he's not feeling too bloody and murderous, but maybe that's worse, oops.

[it's night time and Luffy is perched in the crow's nest, looking out at the sea. He's tired but not sleepy. Like something pulling both ways in his mind. He's never been so happy and so sad like this all at once and he's glad to see Ace again but he's also wondering what his nakama are doing. What they're going to do in this world. He feels like he hasn't slept for days but doesn't think he can sleep either, but he closes his eyes and listens to the sea for a bit anyway.]

[Marco's a little surprised to find Luffy on what's supposed to be Marco's watch, but he takes the moment of surprise to assess the kid's haki level instead. Coiled, but nearly even stronger than Shanks' now. Marco just shakes his head in surprise and quietly grabs a seat next to him. Not asleep either.]

Yo.

[He grabs the hat and fixes it. Shanks' hat. How had they all missed the idea that Ace's little brother was the kid Shanks risked his life for? Well, Whitebeard noticed it the second he saw the kid, but Pops had always been perfect like that.]

[He wants to say something about it. About Shanks, and Roger, and Rayleigh. About Whitebeard, and Ace, and carrying on the Will of the D.]

[But that's not the kind of thing that can be said in words, and Marco doesn't really want to.]

[He's better at answering questions anyway. Otherwise... there's too much to consider. That's why he hates Namur and Ace always telling him to share shit. Share what? There's too much to begin to narrow it down. And he doesn't even like telling the truth if he's cornered.]

Robin told me you asked Jinbei to join your crew. Arigatou, eh? I would have loved to have him in my own, but things are going to be a bit messy now, and I would rather he stopped trying to follow through on owing us some sort of duty. It's about time he had fun instead.

[he feels Marco come up, but doesn't recognize it til he sees him. He lets Marco adjust the hat and then straightens and pulls it back to rest against his back where it was]

Jimbe's a great guy. I owe a lot to him. But I like him, too. [he wonders if Jimbe will show up here. That would be kind of fun. There would be a lot to show him but...on the other hand this place could be harder sometimes. People coming and going back and to different places and times.

Well...either way. He smiles at Marco]

Thank you, na. I didn't get a chance to say before, but you helped me out a lot back then.

I think you've got that backwards, little mate. [Smokes his cigarette, but sits next to Straw Hat, looking off into the distance.] Without you Ace never would have gotten all the way to the New World to us, and you're the one who got him free, eh?

Ace woulda gone no matter what. [because that was how strong Ace was. And how cool] But I'm glad he met you guys.

[a moment of quiet then]

He's free here, too.

Chandra promised to take him, Thatch, Roxas, and me and anyone else who wants to come with them traveling among the stars. And I believe her.

[that's so cool!]

You mean like the moon and stuff? Does she have a ship with an ugly face in it, too?

[He laughs and shakes his head.] Even further than that. She does it without a TARDIS ship like the Doctor uses. She uses crystals and really weird power energy sources.

So it's a mystery ship. Sounds awesome, naaaa.

[but then he thinks... and asks without looking at Marco]

Can it go other places? Like...we came here?

Right.

But she can't do it yet, and I don't know where she is. I just know she'll be back.

[he nods. She'll show up or she won't. But...if she does]

Can...she go back home, too? [their home, he means]

She doesn't have one.

I mean ours. Could she bring Ace back?

[nod. He thought as much but he thought he'd check and see. It doesn't bother him. Cuz right now Ace is here. And maybe he'll be somewhere else one day.]

What were you guys fighting for anyway?

[Gestures a thumb back where they came from.] The navy, you mean?

They gave seastone, whatever they call it here, to slavers.

Slavers who took Thatch and Namur.

It's bad enough those scum didn't know enough to recognize Ace's mark and stay away from it, but to aid slavers? And for what?

I can forgive idiots who try to take my father's head, but I'll never forgive weaklings who treat people like financial investments.

That's stupid. If they recognize Ace's mark they're gonna come after it as hard as they can. You shouldn't have a mark if you want anything else.

[he doesn't know much about slavers or collars or who those guys are really though he can kinda guess.]

It's important to Ace though right? To fight these guys?

Oh, I want them to come after us. I also want them to know exactly what will happen when they do.

You'd have to ask Ace, but I'm fairly sure of it. [Given how Ace himself seemed more murderous than Marco, but he's not going to say that.]

[oh yeah. That was right. He didn't really like the way Ace did things sometimes. But people wanted to steal his nakama they should be prepared for it. That was something Luffy got]

Yosh. I'll help out then.

Your crew needs you, kid.

They lost Nami and Robin at the same time as you.

It's not that I don't understand your sentiments. The only reason I agreed to be Ace's first mate is because he's my baby brother. [And Marco wants to make sure he's free and lives forever now.] But we'll look after him. And if you remember Marineford well, remember how mad he was at first? How much he told you to get out of there?

Ace won't let himself cut loose so long as you're with us. Protecting you comes first. That's what I did what I did at Marineford. He's my nakama, I know how he is.

And your crew need you too, eh?

Don't worry, Ace will still be here. I won't let him go anywhere.

Yeah I'll go back in a little. [he promised them that much]

But I'm gonna come help anyway. When it's important. [Especially if it was anything like that place. He was stronger now. He could fight harder. He could really do a good job this time. And he wanted to so he was going to do it]

People like that are annoying. [the slavers he means]

[He's quiet. He had asked Robin and Zoro but...]

How was Fishman Island when you saw it?

Mmm. I liked it. [he doesn't really know what Marco is asking] It's mine now. I'm gonna protect it.

[cuz your old man can't anymore.]
