The Great Ghost Race Mingle at Port Chance

Who: Anyone and all characters coming to Port Chance
Where: Port Chance

What: Food, Fun, and preparation for the Great Ghost Race.
Status: Very Open!

Racing or not, there is much to do and see on the days coming up to the Great Ghost Race. Port Chance is in full festival mode with food, dancing, games of luck and skill, and fireworks every evening. There are figures of Davy Jones everywhere, from statuettes to cloth dolls to painted signs, as if the residents are trying to ward off bad luck. Otherwise there is an air of festive mood, so come and mingle! Enjoy the sights and sounds! Gawk at the wide reverse waterfall as it goes up the mountain, or the more regular waterfall that goes down the other side.

JA'FAR!

[Because what Ja'far clearly needs after being cooped up with Sinbad is more time with Sinbad.]

[He holds out a food container filled with curled potatoes.]

[Ja'far frowns at the potatoes, then up at Sinbad.]

How much of our money are you wasting on food?! We don't have that much to begin with!

[Finances and lodging arrangements and other things of that sort were usually Vittel's job, but at least Ja'far paid attention to how things were done because Sinbad doesn't seem to have any idea how to take care of himself. He seems pretty convinced he can rely on the kindness of strangers forever, which is stupid in Ja'far's opinion.]

Don't worry about it, I'll get more if we need it.

[He waves his hand. Honestly Ja'far worries too much.]

Come on, try it.

If we run out of cash, I'm selling your organs to make up for it.

[He's still not taking any potatoes.]

We're not going to run out. I can provide for us just fine!

[He shakes the fries.]

Here! Try it!

How? No one gives handouts for being an idiot.

[He tugs his bandages down, grabs a handful of fries and shoves them in his mouth, barely even chewing them before he swallows.]

I'm getting funds for myself and if you try to touch them, I'll cut off your hand.

Don't worry about that, seriously!

[He waves his hand a bit.]

I'm not going to take your money Ja'far. What do you take me for?

[Ja'far just fixes him with a flat stare. It hasn't been so long since Valefor's dungeon that he's forgotten all the sneaky, underhanded things Sinbad pulled there. He may have agreed to follow him, but that was because he found him interesting and because he'd offered him a place, not because he found him at all trustworthy.]

[Sinbad returns his stare with a serious look.]

I'm no petty thief.

No, you're a thief a giant ego.

[He knew that going in, but that doesn't change the fact that it's the truth.]

I didn't steal Valefor, I just outsmarted you. There's a difference.

SAME THING!

[After all, it's not like he's going to get money for them by getting a job like a respectable person. He's going to scam out of ladies dumb enough to fall for his crap. Ja'far is about 90% sure of that.]

ANYWAY STOP WASTING MONEY!

It's not the same thing. The fact of the matter is, you were dumber than me in that moment. I came up with a brilliant plan and I won. When you come up with a good plan maybe you'll win.

[He scoffs.]

[Sinbad slides one foot back and his hand hovers by his sword.]

If you want to slit my throat, you better come at me with all you have Ja'far!

[Ja'far's hands clench and he almost pulls out his knives, but then he snarls in frustration. He knows his threats are no good and he's pretty sure Sinbad knows that, too. Where is he going to go if he kills him? Sinbad is all he has right now, with Vittel and Mahad not here, and he said he'd follow him. If he loses that place, what does he have left?]

Forget it. It's not worth my time.

Hm.

[Sinbad relaxes his stance a little and steps forward to pat Ja'far on the head.]

You need to relax a little Ja'far.

[Ja'far bristles and momentarily considers biting him, but ultimately he just settles for glaring. He can't even remember the last time someone who wasn't Sinbad tried to pat him on the head or, really, show him any sort of affection. It's annoying.]

Do not. Too much shit to do.

If you don't relax a little, I'll give you a day off.

[Sinbad threatens in a light tone, but he's completely serious.]

[Ja'far looks momentarily baffled. Yeah, he said he wanted a life of leisure back in Valefor's dungeon, but he wasn't actually that sure what he'd do with free time. He wasn't used to having any.]

Is that supposed to be a threat?

Yes, because I will make you have fun too!

WHAT KIND OF THREAT IS THAT?!

[He's not 100% sure how to have fun, either, but he's fairly certain he'd like it. This sounds like more typical Sinbad nonsense.]

The kind of threat that I'll order you to do if you don't relax.

You can't force me to relax, moron! Not everyone wastes their time with dumb shit like you do!

[For example, Ja'far has been busy stealing things off other ships all day. He has a nice stash of clothes and maps and valuables that will hopefully last them a while, considering the trouble Sinbad is always seeking out.]

I can if I want to! Captain's orders!

[Sinbad smirks.]
