Giant Spiders Oh My
Who: the current Hazmats
Where: sailing to Manahana-lia Island, then on the island
When: August 27 through September 5th
What: sailing as fast as they can to rescue Cynthia, and the rescue thereof. They'll try to save time by jumping through Empieza but...
Warnings: spiders. Violence, talk of death, Gan Ning's mouth
Style: whatever you want, don't mind the setup
Status: closed to Hazmat crew
The minute the scream came though his journal, Gan Ning was moving. There was no time to waste fiddling around, they had to set sail to find Cynthia before it was too late. He tore through any maps and information they had on the ship, looking for anything that suggested spiders. Her clue, the spider-webs, meant that was all he had to go on. Fortunately, other pirates around the docks totally knew which island that was, and aside from impressing on him the "don't go there" part of the legend, told him where to find it.
It did seem odd that no matter where they were, if they set sail for Isla Empieza, they'd make it there in a day or so instead of weeks. Gan Ning relied on that, even though he didn't do more than skim through the harbor before setting a new course for Manahana-lia in the far west of the land. Hopefully weather wouldn't be against them. They had a long way to go and didn't have Wan there to guide the winds in their favor.
Spiders, the other pirates said. There'd be large spiders and his crew would be killed. Nope, Xingba would not let anyone die if he could help it. But that meant they'd have to fight. Roxas needed to heal so he could guard the ship, but everyone else, well...
Let's hope they make it on time.
[ooc: info on the island is here - make and date your own sailing threads but we'll hit the island about the 3rd or 4th and there'll be a fight log for that]

You talked about school and stuff so um, I know you told me that story. But what was it like before that? You know, before you were a Nobody? You went to school? What else did you do? Did you have fun?
no subject
[It's sort of hard to figure out what to say. Even stuff that seems incredibly dull to him is probably fascinating to Roxas.]
I don't really have any cool island boy stories like Sora and them. The city around the castle in Radiant Garden is pretty big, I guess, but it's mostly just...well...normal. If it was a little more exciting, I probably wouldn't have gotten myself into the mess I did.

[All of this boring life is incredibly fascinating to Roxas and he can't help but explode with a million questions all at once. It's strange he never asked about it before, actually. He never gave it much thought, but Lea always seems to know everything about normal lives and Roxas wants to know too.]

[Lea pushes up on one elbow and looks down at Roxas.]
This is a big deal to you, isn't it?
[Kind of an unnecessary question, considering how excited he looks. Lea flops back down on the deck and tries to put together an answer that covers all of that.]
It was kinda like Twilight Town, I guess. Not so much anymore because it got pretty messed up a while back and they're still rebuilding, but yeah. I think Struggle is kinda a Twilight Town-only thing, though. Mighta kept me from starting fights with the other kids so I could show off, I don't know. Might not have.
[He reaches down to nudge Roxas.]
And I'm not telling you what kinda trouble I got into because now I know you well enough to know you're gonna go try it, too. And I don't wanna talk about school either. It's boring.
no subject
I wouldn't!
[Roxas sighs a little, tilting his head back to look at the sky as he lets his mind wander. He wonders what those things were really like. There's not much point in living vicariously through someone who doesn't want to tell you anything.]
no subject
Would too! In a second! And then you'd be like "well, you did it!" No unsupervised getting into trouble. It's a rule. That sort of stuff sucks to just hear about secondhand.
[Lea's morals might be a little skewed.]
no subject
Well you can't watch me all the time!
[He sing-songs in a teasing tone.]
I'm gonna think of something great to do, it'll be better than all your stories that you won't tell me!
no subject
[It's probably not something to be proud of, but he's pretty proud of it.]
no subject
[Because this is how logic works.]
no subject
[It's kind of one part not wanting Roxas to get in trouble without giving him a chance to participate, one part not wanting to give him ideas that he'll take too far and get in real trouble with, and one part every single story he could tell involving Isa. It's rough.]
no subject
[Roxas huffs a little and gives him an amused look. Seriously Lea somehow always seems like he's the best at everything. He finds himself wishing he had something to brag about and out of nowhere he speaks.]
Well I've touched a real paopu fruit!
no subject
[He can't think when that might have happened.]
no subject
Uh, just....um, forget about that.
[The last time this happened, Lea hadn't noticed because it was so innocuous, but there's no way Roxas could have done such a thing. Idly, he wrings his hands as he looks around.]
no subject
[Lea can't sit up all the way, but he pushes himself up enough to look down and Roxas curiously.]
no subject
[He's a little flustered. First of all because it happened again and secondly because the more Lea looks at him, the more uncomfortable he feels and he's not going to be able to hold it in much longer. He chewed at his bottom lip a little.]
It...It's not me. I didn't say that. Sora did!
no subject
[Lea does sit up at that, looming over Roxas as he looks down at him in complete bewilderment. He knows the whole wonky memory issues are a constant thing, but this is another level. Just when he thinks he has everything figured out...]
no subject
Yeah. It started when I fought Riku. Riku pushed me and Sora talked through me. That's how he knew who I was. It...happened a few times after that. In Twilight Town, here...
[He just looks up at Lea's face from his lap, swallowing.]
It kind of freaks me out, okay?
[Because for a moment, he's just not himself.]
no subject
[Lea pets Roxas' hair, eyes a bit sad.]
This is why you've gotta go back, you know. So you two can sort out what goes where and I can pick up the finished product when you're done.
no subject
Do you think we can figure that kind of thing out? I never thought of that before.
[It hasn't occurred to him that joining with Sora would mean that he might get fixed...it's an amazing thought.]
I know I have to go back to him. I know. I just..need to hang on right?
no subject
[Lea idly threads his fingers through Roxas' hair, but he turns his head to the side to stare at some point near the horizon. That earnest, hopeful look is a bit too much to take.]
no subject
He sighs contently again and just relaxes.]
Do you think when I'm there Sora will talk to me?
no subject
[He'd rather not compare them in front of Roxas, but it's not like there aren't similarities. Plenty of differences, too, but the two of them were undoubtedly similar.]
no subject
[That would work assuming that Roxas didn't lose himself when they merged again.]
no subject
Yeah, that's Sora for you...
no subject
I guess. You know him better than I do.
