Beach party beach party

Who: Hazmat crew!
Where: Aquatica Paradise (and sailing to it if you'd like)
When: appx Sept 24-30 (or, for sailing, anytime the 14-23)
What: VACATION. They've had a rough summer so it's time for some downtime. There are water parks, beaches, and an obligatory onsen, so mix and mingle with the super-happy (and young and pretty) locals and have some fun!

[Gan Ning promised his ragtag crew a party, and by god, they were going to have a party. It might have been worth it to hold on Isla Empieza, to mingle with other crews there, but there wasn't much going on there to stick around for. He heard from someone in the harbor about this island and decided it would make a great place for a party.

Somewhere along the way Raphael disappeared, sadly, but the rest of them continued on. They had already put off partying for too many reasons - a poor showing in the race, other crewmates disappearing, Cynthia's rescue from the clutches of giant spiders, and so on. No more. This time, they were just going to put down anchor, hang out on the beach, make some ice cream, and have a good time. Besides, with Tsuzuki joining the crew, they had to show him that they knew how to stick together, right?

If they kept Roxas around, he'd be fine. He tilted his head a bit at the insinuation that he'd get old and just shook his head a bit. What had he been doing?

"We went to that island and a guy bought me a meat stick, which was really good! I got some new spells to try and Lea and I spent the night in a bed instead of the hammocks and, hmmmm, I had donuts! What else...before that I was trying to read a book but Lea says it sucks so I don't know. I don't have much else to do. All my toys and things are on the Spades ship."

"This Lea sounds like your best friend. You must be really close from the way you talk about them. Is Lea on the Spades' ship or ours?" Friendship was a special thing to this shinigami. It was the only thing that kept him going, and his reason to get back home.

"Meat sticks and donuts though? You're making me jealous here. If you'd said pie next, I might have started drooling. Hahaha!"

If possible, Roxas brightened more because Lea was absolutely his favourite subject as of late. "Lea is my best friend! Of course he's on our ship. We always have to stick together, that's just how it is. You'll know him when you see him cause his hair is really red and it used to be longer but he keeps cutting it now even though it doesn't look as good. He's really awesome too, he can use lots of fire magic and it's really cool. Oh and he wears weird orange-y clothes. He doesn't care what I think though, I don't think, but that's okay. He probably finds my clothes too boring."

That was quite the tangent he took off on. "No, I didn't find any pie. We went to Candy Mountain. It was the best place ever! Everything was candy, and I even drank a puddle! It tasted like chocolate!"

Well, for the first half of that response, Tsuzuki just smiled away. It was almost magical to see such beautiful friendships like these. He always believed that human relationships were what made life worth living. Hisoka had proven to him that no one was meant to be alone in any existence. Hearing about Roxas and Lea made him feel warm to the core...

"Wait... did you say... Candy... Mountain...?" His expression went blank instantly. Everything candy? Chocolate puddles? Best place ever was an understatement... That sounded like Heaven. "There's a place... like that... here...?"

"I did! It was my favourite island!" It was also the only island who's name Roxas remembered because it was just that important.

Perhaps it was a trick of light reflecting off the water, or maybe the mind playing games of its own. Regardless of the cause, the man across the bath suddenly seemed to sprout furry ears on the sides of his head. He gave a whimper that was strangely similar to a pup's as he hung his head. Was he going to cry...?

"I missed it... I missed Heaven again..." Now, his voice was cracking. Oh brother... "It'd be my rotten luck though... missing out on such a paradise... A perfect onsen like this... is nothing next to an island made of sugar dreams..." All the puppy sniffles...

Roxas was thrown off guard by the reaction. He scratched his head a bit and moved over to his side and pat his arm awkwardly.

"Um...it's okay...maybe we can go back sometime?"

"Really...?" The biggest wibbly eyes turned to look at Roxas. A mixture of hope and anxiety shimmered in the gemstome-like irises. He was afraid of getting his hopes up, but when did he ever not stack them too high...? "Was it so fun the crew might go back one day...? I can be patient if its worth the wait... I could never ask Gan Ning to go just for me..."

"I don't know...I know we all ate lots of candy until some of us got sick, I think. I guess we'd have to ask the captain to go back. But don't worry! We have lots of candy around anyway, I eat it all the time!"

Too much, Roxas ate too much candy and Lea was trying to turn him onto the wonderful world of vegetables.

"You must like candy a lot, Roxas. Do you think I could bum some off you sometime?" The childish face was so adorable. You would never guess he was an adult. "I already don't get my dessert before every meal now, but candy in between might make up for it."

"Candy is the best but sea salt ice cream is my favourite! Lea and I always had it at home when we were on the clock tower, watching the sun set!" He grinned, the ice cream held such nice memories for him.

"Oh, yes... Sea salt ice cream has such unique flavor. I can just taste it now. How long has it been since I had some? Hisoka hates sweets so much. I think even the smell makes him irritated..." Despite his partner's scary face, Tsuzuki was starting to brighten up his mood. Sweets always made him feel better. Sometimes just the thought... which comes in handy when you can't always afford to buy anything.

"What other sweets do you like, Roxas?"

"Ummm, let me think. There was the candy that was like eating a cloud and the donuts I had on the island last time that Gaius told me about..umm...I like fried sweets with sugar on them!" Even candy he'd tried was eluding his efforts to remember. He frowned at himself rather impatiently and slouched into the water.

"I don't know, other things too."

"Candy like a cloud? Do you mean cotton candy? It light and fluffy, and you can pull it off in chunks or eat it still wrapped around itself. Snowcones are always a good treat after that. Have you tried one? It's flavored syrup on chopped up ice. I'm sure we could find you one here if you haven't though. They are popular at beaches." He smiled back at the young man, noticing his frown. They couldn't spoil the mood now...

Fortunately he was just as quick to get distracted sometimes and he blinked up at Tsuzuki. "Yeah, like that. The cloud candy."

He won't remember what it's called. He shook his head though. "I never had that, I don't think."

"Well should hunt a vendor down for you while we're here then. You can try so many flavors and combinations, as long as you don't run out of ice! Hm!" He looks more his age right now, no more furry ears either. He gave Roxas a wink.

"What do you think about that?"

"Okay! You'll show me, right?" Roxas smiled, his spirits lifted just a bit at the thought of a new treat. His life experiences were still limited enough to allow for him to discover new things quite frequently.

"Of course! I can't just leave you hanging when there sweets invovled! We have to experience food to the fullest! Good food and good company makes life worth sticking around! Hahaha!" Such an old man...

"Does it really? Is that how being alive works?" Roxas sounds genuinely curious.

Tsuzuki blinks back at the young man. Was that a genuine question? Huh? He gave the question some thought for about sixty seconds before making a more mature smile down at the youth.

"It's part of it. There are lots of things in a life that can build us up or tear us down. The things that make it worth the craziness though are what make us happy. Delicious food in our mouths and good people by my side is what I've found works pretty well for me. Hm!"

"Oh. Hmm." Roxas seemed to be pondering that. It didn't sound too bad, it sounded nice actually and a lot like what he always seemed to want. "I guess so. What's the other part of it then?"

"Well," the shinigami said with a soft voice, "they say that you never know what kind of an impact you'll have on the world. Even the slightest touch to the surface of a pool makes ripples. Even if you don't see much about yourself, there are people that your ripples touch and will touch. For all you know, you could be someone important to someone else. Those relationships between comrades, rivals, and other precious people are some of the greatest gems life has to offer..."

Tsuzuki paused to think about what he had said. Not many twenty-six year olds world talk that way. He hummed playfully suddenly.

"Hm! At least, that's been my experience, Roxas."

Roxas didn't quite follow that but he was curious still. "What if you aren't supposed to exist?"

"Aren't supposed to exist...? Well..." He paused, but this time, there was hurt in his eyes. Those words stung deep in a wound that was only just beginning to heal. He turned to face forward, collecting his thoughts. Finally swallowing the lump in his throat, he spoke up...

"There are some people that some say weren't meant to exist, but... but I don't think that any life can be made if there isn't a purpose for it. Even if the world is against you, you never know what lives would be changed without you in them... because you're a gem in there lives."

He sounded a bit nostalgic there, speaking from experience. He hoped he hadn't confused the boy more. He never was much of a teacher or mentor...

At least on this subject, Roxas understood most things. As Lea would point out later, things that related to him on a personal level were much easier to understand.

"Just Lea, really. At home I mean, it was just Lea. Everyone else is..." Roxas trailed off.

"I'm not supposed to exist and when I go home I'm going to disappear." He admitted softly. "Naminé said I'm not and Sora is going to wake up because he needs me to disappear so he can...do what heroes do. I don't know, I'm not a hero."
