What: VACATION. They've had a rough summer so it's time for some downtime. There are water parks, beaches, and an obligatory onsen, so mix and mingle with the super-happy (and young and pretty) locals and have some fun!

[Gan Ning promised his ragtag crew a party, and by god, they were going to have a party. It might have been worth it to hold on Isla Empieza, to mingle with other crews there, but there wasn't much going on there to stick around for. He heard from someone in the harbor about this island and decided it would make a great place for a party.

Somewhere along the way Raphael disappeared, sadly, but the rest of them continued on. They had already put off partying for too many reasons - a poor showing in the race, other crewmates disappearing, Cynthia's rescue from the clutches of giant spiders, and so on. No more. This time, they were just going to put down anchor, hang out on the beach, make some ice cream, and have a good time. Besides, with Tsuzuki joining the crew, they had to show him that they knew how to stick together, right?

[The Night Fury liked playing on the beach. Here the water was warm and the waves were a lot of fun to dodge when he wasn't barreling right into them. Anyone within the vicinity of the dragon was like to get doused by more than just the waves, given how much Toothless liked to splash.

When he wasn't romping about in the waves, then he was rolling about in the sand, and when he didn't want to be sandy, he was back in the water. Sometimes he'd take up chasing after the little crabs, although they'd always manage to scuttle into the sand or get lost in the incoming waves before he could catch them. Just as well.]

[Toothless, you are adorable. Giant, and adorable.

Gan Ning sits for a bit watching the dragon gambol across the beach, on one of those days when he's avoiding Cynthia because she doesn't seem to remember him or even notice him. It's harder to be happy even with the sun and surf, but watching Toothless play is helping.]

[The dragon jerks his head up from a fresh mouthful of seawater, shaking it out. Getting hit in the face by a wave isn't much fun.

His tongue hanging out like an overgrown dog, Toothless bounds away from the water again. Noticing a familiar figure a ways off, he makes his way along the sand, his wet feet and tail gathering a light dusting as he goes, like a sugar-coated donut.]

[Can't miss that shadow coming toward him. Gan Ning sits up, sticking out a hand for the dragon to notice him.]

Hey, buddy. You look like you're havin' a good day.

[Hands usually being seen as a welcoming gesture, once Toothless tromps close enough, Gan Ning should expect a slightly wet snout being shoved against his palm. He gurbles a greeting.]

Hey, buddy. [yep, wet. Ning has to wipe his hand off on his trousers after that] You havin' fun in the ocean? Catchin' fish and stuff?

[he doesn't care if the dragon can't answer, he just wants to talk.]

[Sitting down right there, Toothless smiles gummily and gives a few short barks in response, not that he's sure what he's being asked, but he did hear the word 'fish.']

[so damn adorable. Dragons are never this cute when they're being gods and all that. Ning grins a bit at him]

Yeah, you like the fish, huh? I bet. River dragons like 'em too.

[he reaches to give Toothless another pat] You an' the kid are good people. I'm glad you're on this crew.

[There's that word again, but no fish to be seen. Oh well. Maybe he'll try his luck in the water again, later.

Toothless will happily smush his face into that pat, a low rumble curling up from his throat like a monstrous purr.]

Heh! You're like a really big tiger, ain'tcha?

[all the pats, then!]

As long as you're happy, that's good enough for me. Gotta keep my crew happy.

[Just wait until he starts licking, Gan Ning! Dragon spit's hard to get off!

But there's no doubt about it, the dragon's very happy with his present company and crew. He's warmed up to them considerably.]

[and Ning loves his little transport bomber, yes he does. He figures it's safe to drape an arm around the dragon's neck, even. Loosely, though, so he can duck away if he wants.]

Who knows, maybe you're secretly a god, too. The god of...I dunno, the fountain on Empieza or somethin'.

[There's just the slightest moment's tension at that, but he's quick to resettle, even nudging his head towards Gan Ning's for a quick slurp.

Of course he is! He's the unholy offspring of lightning and death, after all!]

DRAGON BUDDY

[Since he's technically the owner and best friend of this crazy Night Fury, Hiccup is the one to take most of the splash damage.

It's already hard enough trying to keep up with him with one leg; the sand makes it a little more challenging. He can't help but laugh, though.]

I take it you're having a terrible time here, bud.

COPILOT

[Gurbling happily, the dragon pauses, crouched as he looks at Hiccup, the water lapping up past his legs and up to his chest.

And then he throws himself sideways into the water, rolling a bit before he gets to his feet and scampers around the boy, splashing away. As the water recedes, he starts to chase it like an overgrown dog.]

FRIEND COPILOT BUDDY THING

Yyyeah, I thought so.

[Suddenly Toothless uses SPLASH attack.

It's SUPER EFFECTIVE!

Too bad Hiccup isn't wearing swimwear. Because he's soaked. Arms fly up, a vain attempt at keeping dry failing hard.]

–Oh, come on! Toothless! Really? Really– oh, okay, fine, go chase the water.

[FINE he will.

...and then he'll come running back because here comes a big wave aaah!!]

[Oh CRAP]

–WAIT NO I take it back!!

[Hiccup screams, turns, and runs.

Or tries to. STUPID WET SAND, WHY DO YOU CLING TO HIS METAL LEG!?]

[Toothless pauses from loping off, turning to go and come up alongside of Hiccup. Hurry, hurry!]

[Good dragon! The viking holds onto Toothless, getting the help he needs to get onto him as quickly as they can.

It's like an action movie where things are exploding and they have to outrun the fireball. Except with seawater.]

Up, bud, up!

[The dragon leaps forward, wings extending and beating hard as he bounds through the sand until he gains lift.]

[summing_it_up]

[The sand-covered metal peg clicks and shifts gears, letting the prosthetic tailfin flap open...

...And then the wave grabs onto it as they start to take off.]

–Augh!!

[b2_dragon]

[Toothless lets out a growrf! in surprise as they're smacked down by a wall of water, and for a moment everything is a blur and rush of waves.]

[HHBRRVRLRBBGLBHG <-- not the greatest underwater view

Only when the waters recede does Hiccup gasp loudly for air, still feeling the hit as he tries to figure out where everything is.]

Tooth– Toothless? You okayAAUsbhg– !

[And he rolls right off the dragon and into whatever is left of the last big wave. Splutch.]

[The water pulls back, and Toothless finally finds purchase on the sand, shaking off as the waves stubbornly try to pull the very sand from under his feet...

Hearing the blubbering from the soggy Viking, he steps over to once again haul the waterlogged Hiccup to his feet again.]
