Somewhere Among Distant Memories

Who: Ban Midou and Lyrik
Where: Aboard the Triton's Mistress
When: Backdated some-ish, after they'd left Isla Empieza maybe I have no idea where we are anymore sob
What: After meeting couple of interesting acquaintances (?) of Ban's during the Hauntings, who better to ask about them than Ban himself?
Warnings: Get Backers spoilers?
Style: Prose
Status: On-going

For all the excitement that had occurred back at the main port, Lyrik was a little relieved once they had decided to set out again. The days that followed had been no more pleasant for the raging storm that followed, and then the brief scare of a fire in the captain's cabin. Yet the storm broke, and the sun finally returned, as though nothing unusual and foreboding had happened not a week prior.

The young water dragon knew better than to think it had all been some strange dream. He'd found a few splinters of wood stuck in his clothes to prove otherwise, a reminder of how close he'd been to becoming crushed by some monstrous power.

"Miss Eris..." he sighed, leaning against the railing of the ship. He wondered what had become of her. He also had to worry about that other fellow, the scary blond with the metal arm...

Since the ship wasn't pitching about so wildly anymore, maybe now would be the best time to seek out Ban. He wondered if he'd come across either of the two when he'd been in Empieza, and well, now was as good a time to ask as any, right?

Lyrik wasn't the only one glad to put that port behind them. Ban might not have met all of his nightmares but he'd met enough of them to have regretted the whole ordeal. The thought of 108 knives hurdling through the air and virtually skewering your body should be enough of an indication as to how well his own adventures went.

Surprisingly Ban was fully recovered after the incident no longer bearing the scars from Haytham's blade or the lacerations incurred in the prison. Death had served to recharge him more than anything else. NOT THAT THE CREW NEEDED TO KNOW THAT HE'D HAD TO NAV BACK OVER TO ISLA IMPIEZA BEFORE THEY LEFT. It was embarrassing to have been killed in the first place but to then learn that you were killed by a figment of your own mind was another.

Ban was in his quarters debating whether or not to author a message to one of his fellow crewman. If not to discuss the recent events than at least to inquire over how they had been. Before he had time to arrive at a decision, Ban heard someone approaching in the hallway. Shutting his journal, he stood up and headed for the door.

It wasn't the easiest concept for Ban to accept either, but he'd sort of had to when it happened the first time. Go ahead an enjoy the omission, while you can. Some time that bubble will probably be burst.

He opened the door promptly enough, possibly startling the person on the other side of it.

Oh hey- it's the waterboy. Looking down at Lyrik, Ban responded,"Hm? Yeah- what is it?" Lyrik hadn't visited Ban in his room before so he wasn't sure what this would be about. Hopefully a giant squid wasn't trying to sink the ship or anything ridiculous like that. He'd had his fill of ridiculous for a while.

Ban had noticed that about Lyrik before so the brief hesitation was telling all on it's own. Whatever this was about...

Isla Empieza

That synched it. He doubted this was going to be about the unusual fog, or the perpetual night sky. Gawd- don't tell me Lyrik ran into that monster, Akabane Kuroda, too? Though it would make sense. Akabane despite his vicious nature on the battlefield, he avoided killing kids. That probably would have carried over into the nightmare version, since it was something that had stuck in Ban's mind. Even still- it could have still been a traumatic experience if Lyrik had stumbled upon those victims.

Stepping aside, he motioned for Lyrik to enter, and he pulled over a chair for him to sit on. Ban took a seat on his bed.
