'Taking it easy', whatever Katara said, wasn't on Descry's list of talents, even with Skulduggery mother-henning him the whole of the first night. When Descry had fallen into a deep sleep, the skeleton had been sitting by the window. When Descry had woken up, he was fairly sure Skulduggery hadn't moved an inch.
At least Skulduggery had let himself be talked into investigating the woods on the second day, not that they'd gotten far. The forest was most definitely magical--or at least enchanted to turn investigators away from even wanting to continue. Neither of them had been terribly happy by the fact they hadn't been able to overcome that overwhelming sense of anxiety the deeper into the forest they'd gone. Both of them had to content themselves with looking toward finding a ship and a crew. Descry wasn't looking forward to that part. The open ocean wasn't one of his favourite places.
On the third day Descry's first stop, after breakfast at the inn, was to get some clothes other than his battle-leathers. They weren't Ghastly-tailored, let alone enchanted, but they'd do. In their own way, they made him stand out; he dressed just like one of the townspeople and knew his way around the town as if he'd been there for years--easily mistaken for a local. Yet he was far more open and friendly to the other newcomers than any of the actual townspeople were.
He spent most of the morning at the markets, buying supplies for the ship and bartering the merchants down to the most reasonable prices without
actually cheating them out of their livelihoods. (He did, after all, have something of an unfair advantage.) At the same time he skimmed minds. The townspeople didn't have a whole lot of new information for him, but some of the newcomers might.
Then he delivered the goods to the shipyard, taking the long route around to pass by the forest. He stayed there for some moments, frowning and listening with ears and mind, but heard nothing.
By the time he reached the shipyard, it was nearly midday and Skulduggery, very obviously undead and very obviously intimidating the local sailors, had found them a ship.
[ooc: Obligatory mind-reading warning! Hopeless's permissions post is this way. Mostly it's only important if your character a) has no biological brain; b) has mental powers themselves; c) you as mun are vetoing Descry's magic. Don't feel obligated to have your character approach Descry in the first tag; chances are he'll do that himself.]
