[Kodachi looked with interest at the pink and purple drink that he had.]
You're so sweet. ♥
What's that?
no subject
[That was about all he could say for it. It was pink and apparently involved alcohol.]
How do you suppose that works?
[The bartender could probably explain, but that would mean someone would have to ask him. Motochika was the sort who would stare at a problem for days on end, trying many strange and varied ways of solving it, before asking someone who might actually know the answer. If he asked at all. Sometimes it suited his ego better to just accept whatever strange conclusion best answered the question for him.]

[Kodachi inched closer to him, laying her head on his shoulder and giggling for no reason. Well, actually she was laughing because the drink was pink, which shouldn't be funny in itself - but such were the effects of alcohol.]
Bartender! I want one of those too!
no subject
[Somehow it had become science experiment time. Motochika watched with rapt attention as the bartender made Kodachi's drink, but watching the process really didn't make it make any more sense. There was just no reason layers should form like that! When the drink is set on the counter, he picks both drinks up and holds them out so Kodachi can see them better.]
It seems almost like witchcraft.
no subject
[But why that was, she didn't know. She was already too buzzed to care. She was already half-draped on the captain, staring with amusement at the drink.]
[She finished the rest of her tropical-looking cocktail, getting another glass of something that probably wasn't hers - but as she was treating the whole bar, nobody could complain.]
[She knocked it back, sputtering at how strong it was but forcing it down anyway because that's what people did when drunk.]
no subject
[He may have said that but of course he was going to keep drinking wherever they ended up going. Deciding that the drink was going to go to waste if he just stared at it, he started on the layered drink, disappointed when it began to mix together. If it wasn't going to be exciting to look at, he might as well drink the whole thing.]
no subject
[She let out a hiccup, her arm going about his so that she could hold herself steady.]
Where do we go, Moto-san?
no subject
The whole island is our oyster, Kodachi! There's no end of things to do! Dancing, gambling, fighting!
[He was a bit steadier than Kodachi was, but even Motochika was a little wobbly on his feet. Dancing or fighting might be a bad idea, but that wasn't likely to stop him if they passed somewhere that looked inviting.]
There's more than that, of course! I've seen buildings that I don't even know the purpose of!
[So many possible bad ideas.]
no subject
[And instead of feeling pain, she just burst out laughing even more.]
Let's go!
[And she held her arms out to him, fully expecting to be dragged along.]
no subject
So what shall we do first? A little gambling? Check out something new and exciting? I've heard there's something called a "bowling alley," but I couldn't quite make out what it's meant to be for.
[He could spend a month here and not run out of things to do, it seemed, though it was just as likely that he'd get bored of dry land and return to the sea in a day or two.]
no subject
Ohhhh.
[She seemed to fall asleep for a moment before she suddenly jerked away.]
Bowling is fun! I've never done it, but I'm sure it's fun! Fun is bowling!
[And then she burst out into song - ]
Get me to the church on time! ♫
no subject
Were we going to the church? What about bowling?
[Going to a church didn't sound like it would be terribly exciting, not as exciting as bowling, at least. He had been told that bowling involved throwing heavy balls at things and that sounded like it was worth at least investigating. He wasn't really sure what they'd do at a church. Possibly steal things, but that was often more trouble than it was worth.]
no subject
Yes. We go to church. And bowling too.
Yes. The church is where we'll get married.
[She wasn't aware that that sounded like a marriage proposal, but it sure did . . . in a way.]
Yeeeeeees, married, married, married! Teehee.
no subject
[He's not protesting. Rather, the wheels in his head are turning. Not as fast as they would usually and not in directions most people would steer them, but they're definitely turning. That is, without a doubt, the most dangerous side effect of drinking when it comes to Motochika. It impairs his judgment, but not his ability to come up with Brilliant Ideas.]

[And then a smile broke out upon her face, so bright it shamed the disco ball in the middle of the island.]
I ACCEPT YOUR PROPOSAL!
[And she immediately latched onto his chest - which wasn't that hard, since she was already being princess-carried away, anyway.]
And then we can have a bowling honeymoon.
[Their "honeymoon" would consist of likely destroying a bowling alley but hey, that was what couples did, right?]
no subject
[In that he had no idea at all what it meant, but it involved bowling, so it sounded like fun.]
Why didn't we come up with this earlier? I'm an excellent choice for a husband, am I not?
[Even though everyone kept telling him different. He took that as a failing of theirs, not his own.]
no subject
Yes! You like adventure, you're a good friend and captain, and you like pets.
[Clearly the basis of a solid marriage right here.]
no subject
[He was certainly good at promoting himself.]
And you're a lovely independent lass who can cook and manage the pets and hold your own in a fight and...and...
[There may well have been more things he could add to the list, but he's gotten distracted by the bright lights of a wedding chapel.]
That's quite interesting looking, isn't it?
no subject
Oh, there it is!
[She hopped out of his arms and . . . ended up in an undignified heap on the ground with her butt sticking in the air.]
Ouch!
no subject
Don't get too hasty. You need to get through the door in one piece, after all.
[He considered picking her back up and hauling her in, but decided instead to be the gallant future husband and offer her his hand instead. Carrying her through the doors like a sack of potatoes probably wouldn't give the people inside the best of impressions, after all. Not that he particularly cared, but Kodachi was a lady and ladies tended to get very picky about that sort of thing.]
no subject
Where's the door . . .
[She almost walked right into another married couple, though it was only because she was holding on to Motochika's arm that she managed to steer away.]
[A glass case of rings greeted her at the jewelry shop outside the chapel, and they had quite an assortment of rings, from the tasteful to the gaudy.]
Oh! Motochika-san! Oh! Could you - would you - a ring?
no subject
[He leaned over the case of rings and examined the merchandise. His first choice would be to take the whole thing, but that would need to be done on the way out rather than the way in. If Kodachi wanted one now, he was going to have to buy her one like a normal person. That, of course, wouldn't prevent him from stealing the rest later if he remembered.]
Any one in particular you want? There's a few with roses on them, I see. You like those, don't you?
no subject
That one!
[She pointed it out to Motochika, beaming at him with a silly grin on her face.]
no subject
If that's what you want, then that's what we'll get!
[He returned the silly grin and forked over the coin for the the ring. Kodachi was happy! He was happy! Everyone was happy! This was turning out to be a really good idea! And they were even going bowling later!
Whatever that was!]
no subject
You're supposed to put it on my finger after some words.
[Whatever the words were, well, she couldn't remember at the moment, but surely the minister would tell them.]
You're the best, Motochika-san!
[Positively beaming, she grabbed his hand and staggered into the chapel, where they were next in line to get hitched.]
