Okay! [sets the fish on the table on some other stuff and grabs a banana himself] I wanted to get some of your favorite food but I didn't know what it was.

[Grins at him.]

It ain't anything you're gonna just find somewhere.

[Reaches across the table to cut off some fish for himself -- away from where Luffy's teeth marks are.]

That pasta I make sometimes. Spicy seafood pasta.

That stuff is good! [he remembers that!] Na, can we make it for lunch?

[if it's not meat he won't eat as much from it and he'll try not to get in the way but he really just wants to hang out with Sanji today]

[Shakes his head.]

Dinner. I already got all the ingredients and everything.

[It's like he had this planned already or something.]

We can do whatever you want for lunch. Maybe some kinda barbecue -- or pulled pork sandwiches?

[noms at an already been chewed lizard happily]

Lets have both! Too bad they don't have tasty boars here.

[Reaches for one of the melons and grabs a knife to slice it down the middle. He absently starts cutting the flesh inside into cubes without even really paying attention to what he's doing as he talks to Luffy.]

We could always swing by shitty Empieza sometime soon, been awhile since we've been there. Maybe have a boar feast?

Oh but I have this feast right now. [and he eats some more of his fantastic Sanji birthday breakfast and snatching at the cubes as quick as Sanji cuts them]

Let's have a big party again sometime and invite everyone to it. Maybe one of them has figured out how to beat up ghosts.

This feast is pretty damn good, yeah.

[Grabs another melon, so Luffy can have as many cubes as he wants.]

...I really appreciate it, you know. [Grins at him.] But hey, that ain't a bad idea. There's gotta be new people here by now, too, right? Couldn't hurt to ask 'em all what they know.

[He just grins happily at Sanji's appreciation and eats more cubes. They are so tasty cubed up. Why does everything taste better if it looks cool?]

Yeah... but even if not... [chews some more thoughtfully] Maybe we should get a little stronger then try out the nightmare place again. That was like his home, right?

[Pauses in his cubing for a moment, looking thoughtful, and then sighs and sets the knife down. He pops a piece of melon into his mouth, though he's still a bit frowny as he thinks.]

Mm...probably wouldn't hurt to explore that place some more, see what answers we might find. But I don't know that it was his shitty home. I thought that other Navy asshole just got mixed up in things and kinda took over the place. But maybe not? I dunno, I wasn't actually there very long, remember?

[Humm. He eats another cube then takes a handful of the fish]

Yeah, that was my nightmare. [he remembers] But if I wanna be Pirate King I gotta be stronger than even that, right?

And maybe someone can find something. But we definitely have to get stronger first or we'll just be scattered again.

[Nods.]

They beat the Navy shithead, though, yeah? The nightmares...it's a different kinda stronger to be able to take those on.

[Taps his finger against his temple.]

That's a mental thing.

So we gotta train our minds up.

... [he rests his chin on his fist]

Na, Sanji... Do you think-- I should try to get used to...being alone?

[he really doesn't want to at all. More than anything. And he was kind of when he was training at that one island after Ray left, but he had animals there and his nakama weren't there and it'd be even harder when they were so close but...

[The question takes him by surprise, and he takes a moment to serve himself some more fish before trying to answer.]

...I don't think there's a world where you'd ever be truly alone, Luffy. I can't say what's gonna happen here, but even if...something happened. With the rest of us. You know people on other crews, right? The Spades would take you on in a heartbeat. Probably others, too.

[He doesn't know, though. Maybe that wouldn't help? Maybe it's being without his nakama that makes Luffy feel alone in the first place?]

Yeah I know. Marco's a really good guy. [and even if Marco weren't here he knew he'd find someone. He had to. He couldn't be completely by himself but... He draws his knees up to his chest absently and chews on more fish, considering Sanji's question]

Sometimes. But that's easy to get over I just fish or steal underwear if I get mad. [grin which fades into something serious]

And I've never been good with that kind of tricky nightmare stuff. But maybe that's what the ghost guy fights with. So I have to find a way to not be effected by it no matter what. We all have to figure it out or we're never gonna be able to beat him.

[Sets his utensils down and settles back in his seat, scratching the back of his head.]

I don't want you feeling alone. Or lonely. It's hard without the others, trust me, I know, but Luffy... If you're feeling lonely or some shit, you can just tell me. [Gives a soft laugh.] Maybe that ain't as fun as stealing my damn underwear, but. It might solve your problem quicker.

[The nightmares are harder, though. He tips his head a bit, making a thoughtful sound.]

We're gonna have to figure out a way to train for that, I guess. That ain't something I got any ideas on right now.

[But it is something they need to deal with. He only has to think back to that one shitty Halloween to know that.]

Shishishi okay. [feels warm from hearing that though and goes to sit beside Sanji, hoping for more watermelon cubes to come his way]

Yeah the nightmare place. Or find somewhere with a lot of ghosts...

[he thinks of places where they can find them like old castles or graveyards, and then gets an idea]

What if we threw salt at 'em?

[Gives an unexpected bark of laughter, propping his elbow on the table and resting his cheek on his hand as he gives Luffy an amused look. He reaches for his plate of cubed melon with his other hand, dragging it over so it's in front of Luffy.]

They're not zombies, and this ain't Thriller Bark. I don't know if that'd work, but hell, guess it can't hurt to try, right?

[whoohoo! More cubes! He grins at Sanji's laugh and tries to throw and catch them in his mouth like popcorn]

Are zombies and ghosts that different? They're both dead, right? [hmm] Wasn't one of us a zombie that one time? [here he means]

Eh... One has a shitty body and the other doesn't?

[Snags one of the melon cubes and holds it up like he's going to join Luffy's game and toss it into his mouth. Ready?]

I don't remember, that was so damn long ago. [Or it feels like it anyway.] I know you and Robin-chan were vampires.

Maybe we can put a ghost in a body? [that's a thought] But then it would come back out when it died again.

[Man, ghosts were pretty hard.

He notices Sanji's joining in the melon cube game so he grins and nods 'ready!' to toss them at the same time and try to catch his in his mouth and Sanji's too, even if he has to push him to the side a little]

[Lobs it carefully through the air -- though he's pretty sure that even if his aim is off and somehow that piece of food hits the ground, Luffy will eat it anyway.]

If you somehow trapped the shitty ghost in the body even after death, maybe it'd die along with it or something.

[But then again the whole point of ghosts is that they're dead to begin with anyway. Hmmmmm.]

Maybe we need to start asking around at some of these islands and see if they got anybody who specializes in the shitty supernatural.

As long as they're interesting islands. [he wants to be serious and kick that guy's ass but he still wants to have fun, too. The watermelon bounces off his teeth and makes a desperate bid of freedom for Sanji's mouth.

That's okay. Luffy grumbles only a little and attacks the fish again with double handfulls]

If Usopp were here he'd know what to do. He beat that one girl right?
