Intro Log: April 2015

WELCOME NEW CHARACTERS!
Have an intro log for the month of April!

Who: Any and all new characters, as well as anyone hanging out on or around Isla Empieza!
Where: Near the fountain in the town center.
When: New characters will arrive around April 9th! The log is good for as long as you need it.
What: You've just been dropped on your head in a weird new world. Time to figure out what the heck is going on!
Status: VERY OPEN.

Spring has arrived in Empieza! The days are cool and occasional thunderstorms growl through the night. If the citizens of Empieza seem more anxious than usual, it's because of the pirates that aggressively roam the streets, hunting for fresh meat -- either for shanghaiing or sport. If you don't wish to be coerced to sail under the flag of Ammon the Bloody, it's best to stay out of their way.

Feel free to throw your characters here if you need a place for them to get situated and start figuring things out! Start new threads, tag into others, meet the people who might just become part of your crew! Older characters will be in and out, too, depending who is on the island at the current time.

I'm Vanitas. The Darkness that was in Ventus' heart and given form. Essentially, I'm not that different from one of the Heartless.

What do you mean by Nobody?

The Darkness, huh?

[Isn't that what Roxas is? The darkness to Sora's light?][He tilts his head.]

Sora lost his heart. He has a strong heart so a Nobody gets made. That's me. I was part of Organization XIII.

[Walks up to Roxas and holds out his hand]

Well, whatever you are, we're almost the same. We should be allies.

[Roxas smiles and takes his hand.]

Sure, we can be allies!

[He likes making new friends, especially his own friends away from Sora.]

[Vanitas almost smiles, almost. This... this was a good feeling. It scares him]

I'm joining Shiki's crew. Which crew are you with?

I'm part of the Hazmats! I'm also a Spade, technically, even if I'm on another crew now.

[Roxas turns and shows his tattoo of a spade on the back of his neck.]

I talked to Shiki. I'm gonna fight him! Marco says he's really strong and I want to beat him.

He does seem strong. [That's good, to know his captain is strong.]

I'll see you when you fight him then.

Probably. I'm not sure when that's going to be, but I think we're seeing him later at this summit thing. I'm looking forward to it, I like fighting. Not like when I have missions, but taking on strong people? It's great.

[He grins a little, somehow his mood is lifting with just that. Fighting people is kind of his hobby.]

[Vanitas does his almost smile again.]

Really? I like fighting too.

There's lots of strong people around here to spar with! My captain is pretty good, he has a sword and he can keep up with me, that's how I know he's good. [So modest.]

There's the green-haired swordsman. He's got three swords and he's totally awesome! I can't wait to fight him again! Oh! And Sting, I fought Sting recently. He's a hand to hand combat guy with magic and he totally defeated me, but I'm gonna figure him out and then? Then I'm gonna win!

Huh. Maybe this world will be fun then.

It's a lot of fun. There's no Organization here...Sora went home. It's good.

You don't like him, do you? This Sora guy?

[That's a feeling Vanitas understands well]

I don't like him. I don't really know him that well. I met him...he's so nice though. Makes me feel like I'm an idiot or something because I don't get it. Like I'm the bad guy.

[Well, technically, he is.]

[vanitas_veci]

I know the feeling. I feel the same about Ventus.

[Not quite... he hates Ventus, and in his mind he has plenty of reasons to, nor does he feel bad about it.]

Did you have to disappear?

[Sorry Vanitas, he is clueless about the whole thing.]

I have to go home and stop existing so Sora can wake up and be the hero.

Yeah... I was absorbed into Ventus. I didn't come back to myself until we came here.

[heartismyown]

[Roxas looks at him with pure empathy, mildly upset about that too.]

That isn't fair at all. Why him? What's so good about him? Is it because they don't have the darkness?

[vanitas_veci]

I don't know... maybe. Maybe that's why I lost.

[Clenches his fists] I... wanted his light. I tried to take it, to take it back. But I was the one absorbed.

I don't think if you come from the darkness you can have light.

That's...what's going to happen to me. It's not fair because I didn't ask for any of that. I didn't ask to exist, even when I shouldn't. So why?

[vanitas_veci]

But I was the darkness in his heart. We share a heart. Even if it's mostly his.

It's not fair. But you exist now. You shouldn't have to stop for someone else.

[He feels.... he's not sure. This boy was about to go through what he did. It makes him angry, for reasons he can't explain. He grabs Roxas' shoulder]

I won't let that happen. Just because we're not light doesn't mean we don't have the right to live!

[Roxas looks up, nodding a little. He does exist now and he shouldn't have to stop doing that. He wants to be with his best friend, not asleep, vanished into thin air.]

DiZ and Namine told me I don't. If I don't go back, Sora will stay asleep and Sora is more important than me. He has to save the world or something.

I don't want to care about any of that. I want to live. I want to be with my best friend every day and eat sea salt ice cream.

[vanitas_veci]

Screw them and the world! The world isn't worth saving anyways.

As my ally, I'm going to make sure you get to do that.

[Okay, he's really not sure what's going, but he has these... emotions that he can't name for Roxas. Protective? Like Terra was for Ventus? That makes him seethe with jealousy for a moment. Another thing that Ventus had that he didn't]

I don't care about the worlds. Sora's the one that wants to save everyone. I just want a future.

[He worries at his lip, sighing a little.]

How? Can I do it if I'm not a whole person? What if I'm really making my own heart?

[vanitas_veci]

I don't know. I'm not a whole person either...

[Making his own heart? That's the first Vanitas has ever heard such a thing]

We'll make it work. Somehow.
