"Not in an unwelcome way by any means. It has been a long time since I felt any magic on this ship."

Celestia casually rolled over and off the spar, a maneuver she had performed so many times that she looked exquisitely graceful as she spread her wings and caught enough air to make her landing on the deck gentle indeed.

     Lyrik couldn't help but gasp as he watched her come down. She really was a beauty to watch. He stepped back to give her room as her words sank in.

     "Ah, you could sense it? Does that mean you can use magic too, then?"

Flatterer. Smiling, Celestia lowered her head as she summoned a flicker of golden light around her horn. "That's correct. The benefit of possessing a horn, for ponies."

[chasing_waterfalls]

     "Ah..! Is that it? I'll have to confess, I've never seen any...ponies, was it? -before. Not around Corseltel, at least," Lyrik admitted. "Does that mean that not all ponies have horns?"

"We seem to be a species unique to Equestria, to judge by the reactions I have seen around here. And I am the only pony present here, any more." Can her lethargy and ill-ease, of late, really be surprising when her sister and her subject have vanished, no more to be seen?

"But that is correct. Some ponies have wings, some have horns, and some have neither."

     "Oh... So does that mean others from your world were here at some time?" He smiled wistfully. "...it must have been nice at least. I haven't seen anyone I know here, and this world is so big and so different from what I know back home."

     Lyrik tilted his head thoughtfully, nodding. "It's kind of that way with us dragons. Well, all of us have horns, anyway, but only the dark dragons have wings."

Dragons?

Well, after everything else she had seen and done here, why not? "They were, but they are gone now. I am not entirely certain if it was better to have seen them here only to lose them, or not."

[chasing_waterfalls]

     "I guess I can understand that sort of sentiment. I haven't seen anyone from home here, but I know I'd be happy to see a familiar face if they were called. ...but if they were to be taken away just as soon..." Lyrik shook his head. "I think I'd prefer they remained home. This place is so different, and not everyone is nearly so friendly."

"I only came to this crew because one of my subjects was here, and was quite insistent. If she had not been, who knows where I would be now? So I believe it all worked out for the best." Celestia could remain very philosophical about these things in the long term, though not without effort.

     Lyrik nodded. "That doesn't hurt, I guess. I was invited aboard by Sanji. The captain from my old crew vanished recently, and we were the last left aboard the Triton's Mistress."

"Oh, well. If that's the case... don't mind Luffy. Social graces are not his style." Celestia didn't believe he could learn them, in fact -- in no small part because he was completely uninterested in doing so.

[chasing_waterfalls]

     "No?" He wasn't sure what Celestia could mean by that, and although he'd heard Luffy and Sanji speak briefly over the journals when he was being recruited, the former had been in a bit of a mood that it really betrayed nothing too unusual. "Well, all right. I guess I'll take your word for it, miss..."

     Realization hit, and he slapped his hand against his forehead. "Ah! I completely forgot to introduce myself, haven't I? My name's Lyrik."

"I am Princess Celestia." She lowered her head in a regal practice-perfect bow, every bit the image of grace and regal beauty. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Lyrik."

[chasing_waterfalls]

     A princess!! Lyrik was quick to offer a polite bow back. "Oh! The pleasure is all mine, Princess."

"No need to be formal here, though. After all, we are both just pirates." Which still amused her, since even though she had been here quite some time, she still had spent a far greater proportion of her lifetime as royalty.

[chasing_waterfalls]

     "Pirates, huh..." The dragon smiled weakly at that. "I don't know that I'd ever be pirate material. I'd never even heard of them before until I came here."

"Well, since you are now a pirate by definition, you are pirate material by definition as well." If the logic saw her through these strange days, certainly it could help Lyrik as well!

     That did get Lyrik to consider such an angle of reasoning. He blinked, stroking his chin as he thought about it. "Hmm...well...I guess that makes sense."

"I had some difficulty coming to grips with it as well," Celestia confided with a smile. "But it helps to know it is only a term. You don't need to do anything different."

[chasing_waterfalls]

     "Heh, that's a relief. At least it sounds like things are pretty laid back here." Lyrik smiled back.

"Well, that can depend. The crew is easygoing and entertaining, but very energetic -- occasionally alarmingly so." 'Occasionally' might be understatement, but Celestia recognizes her standards might be different given her longevity.

[chasing_waterfalls]

     Lyrik laughed at that. "Well, I guess I can see what you mean by that. But I think energetic of any level is better than none at all."

Celestia absorbed this statement for a moment... then smiled in a way that might be called wicked on a lesser pony.

"We will see if you still think that once you have seen them at their most energetic."

[chasing_waterfalls]

     "......" He wasn't sure what to make of that smile, or that statement. "Eh heh...heh. Um. I...guess I will."
