Happy Days, Zombie Nights
Who: Hazmats!
Where: at sea and at Arco da Vella
When: June.
What: zombies. Also exploring Arco and seeing its own brand of weirdness, looking for treasure, etc.
Warnings: maybe some zombie violence
Style: whatever
Status: closed to Hazmats
The Nightfury leaves Li Yu Tiao after the festival and after a little aimless sailing, settles on a course southeast to Arco da Vella, mainly to follow rumors of treasure and to do visit somewhere they haven't been before. By the time they turn onto this week-long journey, it's already June, and the Dog's warnings about something coming catch up to them before they land.
At sea the night of the 15th when the first zombies attack, it becomes even more imperative to make it to land. Because of course, it would never happen on land, right? Wrong. Plus, when they get there, the strange colorless nature of Arco da Vella shows itself, not that it's as dangerous or deadly as zombies but it's just one thing after another around here.

What the heck?

Do you see it too?

[He trails off as he brings his eyes towards her again, staring.]
...you're kind of... [Finger-wiggle, vague hand gesture.] ...glowing.

[This island...this was all far too beautiful to be real. She picked one of the flowers near her feet and just looks at it. This wasn't here a few seconds ago, and gosh was it a pretty flower.]
You think this means anything? Maybe this island is secretly drugging us.
no subject
Not sure. All I heard was that the color disappears when you reach it. It seems kind of sudden for it to be a drug though...
[Brow furrowing, he turns and starts to wander off a ways, looking at the scenery that's suddenly been lit up in color.]

[She takes a seat on the ground, which was now a huge bed of flowers. He can go ahead and wander around all he wanted, Cynthia's going to stay here and examine these lovely flowers. She's never seen anything like them before.
Of course, with enough distance between them, the flowers would begin to wilt and disappear and the colors started to drain again.]
no subject
....huh.
[Frowning, he begins to backtrack towards Cynthia again.]
This place makes no se- ...wait, it's coming back again.
no subject
Stand right there, Gaius.
[Then begins to walk backwards, away from him.]
no subject
Okay...
...whoa.
no subject
[She walks back towards him, already a little used to the psychedelic slap of colors.]
So we don't share blood. We're not lovers. We've never died here. Do you think it's because we both went home and came back? That's the only thing, that I could think of, that we have in common. Next to being in the same crew, of course.

[She picks up another flower and tucks it behind her friend's ear. Cynthia may or may not be enjoying the secret flowers on this island a little too much.]
Well, I heard there's a lake at the center of this place. Want to go check it out?
no subject
Sure. May as well, while we have daylight.
no subject
She actually takes her time, strolling across the fields of flowers and looking at the more colorful trees. Usually she wouldn't wait for her companion whenever she was checking out an island. But these were different circumstances, and she couldn't help but check on Gaius every time she got. The last thing she needed was for things to go black and white again.]
no subject
Gaius doesn't fall behind too much. He's keeping an eye on things as they go out of habit, but it definitely appears that the colors don't disappear so long as they're within reach of each other.]
no subject
Now and then, Cynthia would stop to pick up another flower of play with a tiny jackalope before it scurries of to wherever those weird horned bunny creatures scurry off to. Arceus forbid, she adopt one of those things.]
We should have gone to this island sooner. It's so lovely here.

Makes me wonder if I'd be seeing the same thing if you met me here and not at that cave in IE.

[She watches as these colorful trees swayed with the gentle breeze. It was like this island took "Colors of the wind" a little too literally. ]
no subject
Hey, you were the one that brought it up.
[But he'll be more interested in heading along anyway than figuring out what's with the colors around here.]
no subject
[She grins back before dragging him deeper into the island. Of course, she'd still stop to pick nearly every flower she could find, and maybe changing that flower tucked behind Gaius' ear from time to time. But eventually they reach the lake at the center of it all.]
no subject
But once they come to the lake, he stops, bringing a hand to shade his eyes as he looks out.]
That's one suspiciously lonely tree.
no subject
[Treasure hunting 101.]
So then, should we do the normal thing and fly over there, or should we be adventurous and try crossing the lake? It looks like fun.
no subject
[He eyes the distance.]
...normally I'd be up for adventurous, but I think it's better we don't tire ourselves out before night comes around.
