Happy Days, Zombie Nights
Who: Hazmats!
Where: at sea and at Arco da Vella
When: June.
What: zombies. Also exploring Arco and seeing its own brand of weirdness, looking for treasure, etc.
Warnings: maybe some zombie violence
Style: whatever
Status: closed to Hazmats
The Nightfury leaves Li Yu Tiao after the festival and after a little aimless sailing, settles on a course southeast to Arco da Vella, mainly to follow rumors of treasure and to do visit somewhere they haven't been before. By the time they turn onto this week-long journey, it's already June, and the Dog's warnings about something coming catch up to them before they land.
At sea the night of the 15th when the first zombies attack, it becomes even more imperative to make it to land. Because of course, it would never happen on land, right? Wrong. Plus, when they get there, the strange colorless nature of Arco da Vella shows itself, not that it's as dangerous or deadly as zombies but it's just one thing after another around here.

Eh, I just used Monstrous Nightmare saliva, some Hideous Zippleback gas, and sorta cobbled it together with two lighters...
no subject
Wait, you built that yourself? Oho! I guess goin' home did a lot for ya, huh?
...maybe we should save that chat for when we get back to the ship. [the explosion made enough of a gap in the throngs of zombies wading onshore, good place to run through and keep running]
no subject
Yeah! Pretty much?
[Oh, right, zombies. They're kind of a thing they need to pay attention to.]
Ah. Good point. Running!

Bastards can't outrun us, at least!
[boy are they lucky these are the slow, shambling kind of zombies]

[Quick, uneven steps fly after the jingling. The sand proves to be difficult with a peg leg, but he somehow manages to not fall over like he used to. Those years, they really did do him good.]

Let's pull up the ramp after us, shouldn't be anybody else on land right now.
[he hopes. It means having to stand guard on deck to make sure - and knock off any zombies that try climbing the sides of the ship]

[Scrambling to catch up, the viking doesn't hesitate on his reply. He ducks his head out of habit when Gan Ning whips the chain around, diving toward the ramp of the ship the first chance he gets.
...Maybe he should have thought that through.]
Ow.
[Shaking it off, Hiccup pulls himself up, checking to see if Gan Ning is still there.]
no subject
You all right, there?
no subject
[His sword goes up again, flame on as they go. Those zombies don't know when to quit.]
Maybe a little bruised later, but I'll live.

Give 'em one more shot and then let's pull this thing up so they can't follow!
[he backs the rest of the way to the top of the ramp, connected to the deck, and tosses down the sickle long enough to bend and get a grip on the plank. As soon as Hiccup is clear, it's heave-ho time.]
no subject
Coming right up...!
[The gas is let loose as he steps backward, trying to widen the range of the fumes. With a snap and a strike, another burst of flame engulfs the front lines. Hiccup wastes no time in running up the ramp, tugging on the other side of the plank with all of his might.]
no subject
This is just nuts. Every night like this!
no subject
No kidding? One night of uninterrupted sleep would be nice!
no subject
[he glances at Hiccup and sizes him up with an appraising look]
You sure gave 'em hell, though. Good job!
no subject
[Because dragons have strange nap times.
He runs a hand through his messy auburn hair, giving Gan a lopsided grin.]
Heh. Thanks! You were pretty awesome yourself, Gan – as usual, I should say.

[Pause.]
Actually, I think I did. I did, didn't I?
no subject
no subject
Yeah, women! Especially the ones who can knock you out in a single hit.
no subject
'Course, I didn't feel right askin' before, but you guys, uh... [makes a vague waving gesture with one hand] ...you know?
no subject
Ah, yyyeah! We're. Pretty much together. Very close.

no subject
Yeah, but...what about you? You have someone waiting for you at home, right?
