[She shakes her head.]

Not since the dead people got sick. We don't ever find anything like that.

[Clementine comes to Sanji's side to watch.]

[Quiet for a moment at that.]

Well, tell you what. I can't make cupcakes right now, but I promise I'll get you a whole bunch of them soon, alright? There's this for now.

[He pushes a bowl of melted chocolate in front of her, accompanied by a plate of strawberries, pineapple pieces, sliced up bananas, etc. Then he he rests an elbow on the table, leaning against it as he watches her.]

What do you mean by shitty dead people getting sick?

[Her eyes light up and she picks up a strawberry first, before dipping it in the chocolate, not the least bit concerned about getting her fingers messy.]

Thank you! Well, the people that got sick and died didn't stop moving. They get up and walk around. We call them walkers. They try and eat you and there's lots of them. If they bite you, you die and become one of them. You have to shoot them in the head to kill them.

[Clementine popped the strawberry into her mouth, grinning. It was so delicious!]

[Slowly raises an eyebrow.]

So...zombies? Basically? [Gives a low whistle.] That sucks.

[Aww, that grin melts his heart a little, and he's not exactly concerned about her getting chocolate everywhere, but he slides her a fork anyway. For the smaller pieces of fruit, at least.]

You must be pretty tough to—uh. [Not be dead lol. :|] To fight them. Anyone helping you out with that?

[She nods, zombies.] Lee found me, and we had a group but...[She shakes her head.] I'm the only one left.

[Clementine does look a little sad, but after a moment she moved on to the next piece of fruit. She just doesn't want to think about people dying.]

[Now his eyes widen.]

The only one left? Holy shit, kid. How old are you?

I'm nine! [Clementine licks her fingers.]

Well...let me think...Lee found me and we met this guy and he took us to his dad's farm. When he got eaten, we left with Duck, Katjaa and Kenny. Then we met up with Lily and her dad, Carley, Doug and Glenn. Then Glenn went somewhere else and Doug got eaten.

[It seems so commonplace at this point, and she's too hungry to stop eating.]

Then Ben came with us. I liked Ben, he was really nice. So then they killed Lily's dad because he was dying, and I'm not sure what happened, but there was a fight and Lily shot Carley, so she got left behind. Katjaa and Duck died by the train, but we met Charlie. On the way to Savanna we got Omid and Christa. Omid was really funny.

[She looks down a bit.]

When Lee came to get me from the bad man, he came by himself. He told me Omid and Christa were still alive somewhere, but I didn't find them so maybe they're not. I shot Lee...so he wouldn't become a walker. He'd been bitten.

[It's Lee's death that brings tears to the corners of her eyes, for a moment.]

It was all my fault. If I hadn't gotten tricked and gone looking for my parents, Lee might not have gotten bit.

[Just...listens.

When she finishes talking, he pushes another bar of chocolate toward her, in addition to the fruit and melted chocolate still there.]

Here, eat that. You'll feel better.

[IS REMUS LUPIN SUDDENLY.]

And listen—you might not really get this until you're older, but it ain't your fault. Sometimes shit just happens. This Lee guy sounds like he was looking out for you, yeah? That was his choice, nothing you could've done to stop him.

[He smiles.]

He obviously thought you were worth it, Clementine-chan. Pretty smart guy, if you ask me.

Yeah. Lee was really great. He was a good person. He looked after me.

[She nods her agreement and continues working on the fruit. Clementine doesn't seem quite as sad anymore, she has a way of just pushing things aside when need be.]

How long's it been since Lee died?

A few days ago...since I came here. After he died I left Savannah, like he said, but I didn't find Omid and Christa, and then I came here.

[Damn, so recently.]

You're a strong kid, you know that? I'm impressed.

[Clementine isn't sure if that's a good thing or not, but she smiles at Sanji anyway. After all, he did give her some very good chocolate.]

[He nods toward the chocolate.]

Is that good? You want anything else? You're too skinny.

[She shakes her head.]

It's really good. It's all I want though.

[Clementine pockets the chocolate bar that she hasn't opened and finishes the last of the strawberries.]

[Frowns just a bit, concerned.]

You sure? There's tons more food here.

I'm okay! If I eat too much, my tummy hurts.
