Preparing to set sail by the weekend
Who: Maribelle, Kyouya, and all interested applicants for joining her crew (In other words, if you're part of her crew, or want to be part of her crew, get in here.)
When: Wedensday afternoon
Where: Restful Night Tavern common room.
What: Preparing to set sail, bring a small contribution to funding the voyage for your starting supplies and our ship.
Warnings: None that I know of
Open or Closed: Open to all (even pirates who wish to leer at them)
Things were relatively quiet in the tavern at the moment, as only a few tavern regulars were present, and Maribelle patiently sat at the head of the table with Kyouya seated at her right. "Are you quite certain that everyone has the date and time for this meeting correct? I would hate to find that we are lacking in members simply because of communication." Of course, Maribelle was the one who had made most of the arrangements for this meeting, and had nearly sprung it on her counterpart at the last moment. So she certainly wouldn't hold him at fault for a lack of arrivals.
She glanced up at the door to the tavern, seeing it open but not recognizing the person who came through the door. Could it be one of Kyouya's applicants? She was of course, immensely disappointed when the individual instead saddled up to the bar to sit with some of the other regulars. Patience was a virtue, but it was a virtue of which Maribelle might be slightly... lacking. "Perhaps I should go see if I can find a few of them mulling about... or... no I suppose I should be here in case any of them do decide to be punctual."
She's just going to... sip her tea... and try not to let an irritated twitch show at the corner of her mouth. (OOC: Make sure to also hit up this post as well.)

An honor to meet you Commander Spock. I'm afraid I know little in the way of starships, but if you are a military man I think your experience may be invaluable. Might I ask what a Vulcan is?
no subject
I believe the response is, 'the honour is all mine' Miss Maribelle. A Vulcan originates from the planet Vulcan... I believe the most obvious characteristics when compared to a human is that Vulcans have on average, about three times the strength, touch telepathy, copper based blood, and a higher cognitive functioning ability.
[Spock hesitates for a moment...] Though I believe the first thing most beings see are my ears. Since my arrival here I have been mistaken for an 'elf' three times.
[Have a deadpan voice.]

How curious... your race looks so remarkably much like a human that I would not have guessed that you possessed those characteristics. Apart from the ears that is... I can honestly say, that I have no idea what an elf is, but I thought perhaps that you might be a manakete. In my world they are shape-shifters that take the form of a dragon, and they were the only race I could think of with similarly pointed ears.
[Maribelle sips her own cup of tea rather tentatively, still finding Spock to be rather curious.]
You're a man of science are you not? Or... would the correct term be Vulcan?
no subject
[Spock was curious though.. What kind of world does she live in that has such creatures?]
Would you have a place for me on your ship?
no subject
We currently are lacking in the way of a navigator, so I was curious to know if you might be capable in that regard.
no subject
Thank you for this opportunity. While I would have found another place on another ship... piracy is something I tend to stay away from.
[Understatement of the century.]
I have had to deal with pirates, and their way of life disagrees with my own.
no subject
I certainly cannot blame you in that regard. Pirates are not exactly the most honorable or hygienic of companions one could be traveling with. I want to assure you, that you have certainly made the right decision in accompanying my crew.

[Spock takes another sip of his tea.]
I find myself curious, what is your experience with sea travel?
no subject
Well... to be honest my experience with sea travel was not as a ship captain. I was part of a fleet that sailed across the sea during the war against the Valmese Empire, and fought in a rather decisive battle while on that ship.
However, one of the people who has joined our crew is a vice-admiral of a navy fleet in his world, quite capable in training recruits in the ways of sailing.
go to plurk~ I just finished your squee face. ^_^
[Quite the opposite actually.]
You are a solider?
[Curiosity piqued once again.]
ILU~! :3
[That question gives her pause.]
I suppose in some respects you could call me that, although I served personally under King Chrom and his knights. We were part of an elite group of protectors of the realm known as the Shepherds, and we were almost always on the forefront of the battlefield in the wars. I hail from one of the noble families of Ylisse, and I felt it was my duty to be of service to my Lord and our people.
<3
Though I must ask what you mean by 'elite group'. What is your specialty?
[Because normal people weren't part of an elite group... What was it that Maribelle could do that made her exceptional?]
no subject
[Of course, it doesn't really occur to Maribelle that 'magic' isn't exactly a norm in most worlds.]
no subject
You have no reason to lie... this is quite fascinating. I did not know...
[The calculations in his head cease, and he is presented with a question mark. Something that he doesn't understand, and yet that will not deter him from finding out.]
Excuse my hesitance Miss Maribelle. I have never met a magic user before, as it does not, as far as I know, exist in my universe.
no subject
Truly? ... No magic in your world whatsoever?
[What an alien concept! Wait... did he say universe?]
no subject
Though I have heard it said that magic is merely science that is not explained... though I believe that is rather inaccurate.
[Spock gives a small half-smile, as if he told a joke.]
