Sexy Spade Pirate Times. I Mean, Romance. Maybe.
Who: Spade Pirates All!
Where: Aboard The Ship, in various places.
What: Pop up romantic dates!
Warnings: Depends on how saucy or not the dates get!
Style: Whatever turns you on ;)
Status: Open your hearts!
So Selphie has decided that there's been far too much doom and gloom around the ship lately. The kraken, Sora dead, all the problems with the curses, and then turning back again. What better way to make that better than with a little bit of romance? Selphie set to it, using her own supply of candles and flowers (admittedly rather dried up by now). One evening, dotted around the ship in several places, are pop up romantic dates. These include a couple of candles, some flowers, some chocolates, and a sandwich sliced into two (because she wasn't going to cook a whole bunch of meals)!
Who left it there? Who knows? But it definitely looks like it was put there to be enjoyed, ideally by two people. If it looks romantic, that's because it's supposed to be. So grab your nearest and dearest Spade pirate, or bring two people together, and enjoy some flirting, love, and relaxation.
As for Selphie herself, she might be A) somewhere on the ship. Perhaps you stumble across her near a pop up date, or maybe you go looking for her to drag her/invite her to join you for the evening. Or B) you spy her/find her making a massive pile of sandwiches, or sorting dead dried flowers into bouquets, using strips of her pillowcase as ribbons.
Enjoy, Spades!

"Life-long friendships"? Do you really think that is possible?
no subject
*The way she says it suggests that, as much as she'd like to, she doesn't include herself under the title of friends. She's pretty sure that he's made it quite clear that he doesn't want that*
no subject
[There's a pause as he keeps looking at the spot before he looks at the sky.]
There's no such a thing as forever, though. Everything would only last until they died, after that, all that's left are memories. And even those will eventually dissolve in time.
So no, even if I could make friends, I don't think we would be friends forever.
no subject
Friends for as long as the memories last, then. Does that work? They can be stronger than you think.
*Says the girl who completely lost hers. But it was her friends who helped her get them back. She takes a breath, along with a brave step forward, and touches his arm*
Sit down with me?
*The smile she gives is genuine, and inviting she hopes, as she sits herself quite comfortably down on one of the cushions*
no subject
[Specially when you may as well life an eternity. Ikki looks down at his hands, closing and opening them, he's not wearing his Cloth but he doesn't need to in order to feel it over him. To feel the power inside him and the chains around him.
He takes no notice of when she approaches until she touches his arm. Her smile is met with a frown and guarded eyes, and he continues looking at her in silence as she sits down. He drops his hands and turns around to leave but he only takes half a step before he stops and once more turns around to join Selphie.]
You win. Don't come crying if you come to regret it.
no subject
*That works for Selphie too, the knowledge that there's always a friend somewhere for her, each day. For someone as impulsive and impatient as Selphie, the long term can be too much to think about. From her cushion, she watches and waits to see if he'll join her. He does seem quite uncertain. When it looks like he's leaving, she does sigh a little, but her face lights up when he turns back round*
I won't do any crying, I promise!
*Leaning across the plate of chocolates, Selphie pats the cushion opposite hers in invitation*
no subject
[And it's less troublesome, or so he likes to think. He sits down on the cushion opposite hers, still not looking convinced or comfortable with being there doing that. He looks up to the sky once more.]
I guess that for me a companion, a friend or a brother makes little difference. All of them are meant to be lost sooner or later.
no subject
*Selphie watches him, quite curious now about understanding where his definition of friends lies. That way she might understand him better, and be able to help*
Lost? Nobody is ever meant to be lost.
*Selphie selects a chocolate from the plate, and pushes the rest closer to Ikki in offering*
no subject
[He eyes the chocolates but doesn't seem inclined to eat one, shaking his head instead. He doesn't have much of a sweet tooth.]
They are, as soon as they die. At least where I'm from. Here... Who knows.
[After Sora it's hard to say.]
no subject
* She does smirk when he mentions being nosy , because she can't deny that about herself*
I prefer to call it curious. But really, at the heart of it, I think most people call that caring.
*Selphie takes a few minutes before she seems able to decide what chocolate she wants next*
Hmm... but death doesn't happen the instant you meet someone. There's plenty time in between to have fun!
*Though she's also thinking about what happened to Sora, turning to scan the ship*
no subject
I haven't been happy about anything in years, Selphie. It has nothing to do with you.
[It's nothing personal at least. He looks at the horizon when she continues talking. "Caring", yes, that's how people call it.]
That's right. There's plenty time in between to have fun, to hang out together, to share stories and dreams, to make plans about the future for once you grow up or are free to choose what to do by yourself. Time to care for each other and protect each other.
That's how it always starts. You meet someone, and you're curious about them or they are curious about you, and you start talking and with each chat you start caring. When one is hurt the other tends to their wounds to the best of their ability even if it serves for little because you are stuck in a garbage dump, because that's all you are. But you have each other so you think that it doesn't matter and just have as much fan as possible. And then one day they go to cheer for you during a difficult trial, because that's what friends are for, and then because they were there they die. But even then they are your friends so as they expire their last words and thoughts are for you, to cheer you on, because that's obviously what you need when you're holding their bodies in your arms trying to fix what can't be fixed. Or maybe they take a hit for you and end in a coma for protecting you. Or they die for you and in your name because you made a mistake, but they believed you were right and followed you believing all the lies you told them. Or maybe they just die in horrendous pain for helping you just a bit, because they weren't supposed to help you, but they knew you needed them and even if you hated them they still do so at the cost of their lives.
[When he looks at her he's glaring, anger and hate burning in his eyes, but his gaze isn't really directed at her, he seems to look beyond her.]
No, friends don't die the instant you meet them. But the countdown for their deaths starts when you do and when all is said and done all you have left are memories that time will erase and a corpse that worms will devour.
Companions don't do that, they work together, protect themselves and move on together. They don't die just because they were unlucky enough to know you. And when they do... You die together with them because you all failed together.
[He looks away again before he shakes his head to himself. It still doesn't really make a difference for him, even with companions he will still not die and will be left behind. But at least with those he can know that it wasn't his fault that they died. That they didn't end burned because they knew the phoenix.]

She wants to tell him that he's wrong, that he's not being fair, that he can't blame himself for these things. She wants to shake her head and scream at him to stop, because the way that he's talking is becoming so unbareable for her, all of it so hurting and hurtful. She might have, had it not been for the look that he gives her. It's not directed at her, but she feels just how dreadful he must be feeling.
There are so many things that she wants him to understand about friendship, and the happiness that can come with it, but she's incapable of spelling it out. Instead, when he turns away, she pushes aside the plate of chocolates and moves herself closer to him. It's awkward, given how they're sitting, but she closes her eyes to hide the sadness there, and wraps her arms tightly around him, pulling herself close*
no subject
I told you that you would regret it.
no subject
I don't regret it. I'm glad that you told me all of this.
*As for the crying part, Selphie doesn't mention that. She's not crying, but she is visibly upset*
no subject
Your curiosity got somewhat satisfied then?
[Ikki really wishes that with this she would understand why he doesn't want friends or to be social or with people. But she probably won't, even if he tells her everything, people like her are stubborn and too optimist for their own sake, thinking that it won't happen to them.]
no subject
Maybe. But only a little.
*She tries a smile, to lighten the mood, determined not to be looking at him with sad eyes. The thing is that she does understand, it makes sense to her, and she knows how angry and hurt he is by it. What troubles her now is how to save him from that, how to find a way to make him even a tiny bit happy*
no subject
Her answer doesn't surprise him, and he looks at her with eyes that say so. He knows how this story goes, he has been there and done it already, and he knows it's useless but he still tries to stop it from starting.]
Only a little? So it's really not enough for you yet? What else do you want?
no subject
Lemme see... I want... to know what your favourite flavour of icecream is, and if you like music, and what kind. I want to know what your favourite animal is, and if you like being at sea all the time. That'll do. For a start.
*While she waits for his answers, she plays with the little bouquet of flowers, and plucks one free. It's a large flower, that probably used to be white, but is yellowing now, and tucks it behind her ear*
no subject
I don't really have preferences for icecream or music, I don't have much of either. About animals... Tch, I don't care either, I used to like wolves, I think, when I was a brat. And I don't mind being at the sea all the time, or I wouldn't if I didn't have things to do back at my world.
[He's so helpful... But he's sincere, though it doesn't matter if she realizes it or thinks that he's being difficult on purpose this time.]
no subject
Me too! Wolves are awesome!~
*Though when he's done she wrinkles her nose, because it's still not quite good enough yet*
Okay, okay. So... would you rather be able to fly or breathe under water? What would your dream woman be like? Or, ya know, man, or both, or whatever. Do you like cake? Do you... like the flower in my hair?
*Apparently she's just running a list of whatever comes to her head, but she seems happily amused by it all*
no subject
[Of course that happened a long time ago, now... He doesn't really care anymore. And he has found an animal that is stronger and lonelier than wolves.]
I can fly already, if I can keep it I suppose breathing under water, if not, I will stay the way I am.
[He frowns at the next question, thinking before he answers honestly.]
I don't particularly dream with any woman or man. Unless nightmares count and I would prefer to not recount those.
[Guess who hasn't really gotten the question.]
I don't care much about cake or sweets in general, not even as a kid. I valued a piece of meat more than a piece of candy, filled the stomach more and gave me more energy.
[He pauses and tilts his head at the last question.]
Would look better if it was more yellow. Yellow looks good on you, bright and vibrant, like you.
[Satisfied now?]
no subject
You can fly already? You mean in a ship? My ship's called the Ragnarok. I mean, it's not really mine but I drive it, ya know?
*As for that answer about his dream woman, Selphie just stares at him for a moment. Is he being serious? Probably. But she's not going to confuse things now by going into that one any further*
Hmm. That's pretty weird. I mean, meat is good and everything but.. I guess maybe you haven't tried the best sweet stuff yet!
*In all honesty, Selphie had expected really simple answers, even just a yes or no for the last two. So with his final answer, she's rather taken aback, and she blushes slightly, whether he meant it as a compliment or no*
Oh! Thank you...
no subject
[He arches an eyebrow at her question about flying.]
In a ship? Ships don't fly where I'm from. Airplanes do, either way I don't need any of those to fly.
Tch... I guess I haven't tried many sweet things. When I was a brat, and I was able to get my hands on some food I preferred other things... I remember once going for sweet stuff but after having tummy ache and getting hungry after a short while I decided it wasn't worth it. And when I grew up... I haven't had chances to eat those things, neither interest for them.
[He didn't mean it as a compliment, neither he meant it as an insult or anything. It's just his opinion, since he has gotten this far and is answering her questions he figured it would be better to be honest. And hopefully faster to kill her curiosity.]
no subject
*She's pretty sure that she means that in a nice way, anyway. She does tilt her head and look a little confused about the flying thing*
Okay... so how do you fly? Going by plane totally doesn't count, you know. Or by helicopter!
*She giggles at his mentiom of sweet things, and is prompted to take another chocolate*
Aww that's sweet, and too bad. Maybe you just have to control yourself a bit more.
*And he doesn't even mention the compliment, which is weird, maybe, but she just lets it go before she freaks him out any further*
no subject
Guess it will be faster and clearer if I just show you.
[It would be easier with is Cloth on, whatever they have done to their powers seems to make it even a bit harder for him to use his Cosmos without it, but harder doesn't mean impossible, and it's not as if he plans to try to go far. In fact, despite how there's difficulty for him to it, for the untrained eye, or someone not used to how Cosmo works, it won't appear to be any difficulty.
It starts slowly, first what seems to be a soft aura glowing around him before flames start to raise from his body, licking the skin and dancing on the air. He closes his eyes to concentrate better and in a moment the flames increase in number and size, more and more until they involve him completely in what seems to be a huge ball of fire that suddenly seems to part, wings made of flames extending to the sides as what seems to be the head of a bird is formed. Then he jumps up, and up the flame bird goes, flapping its wings until it's high over the ship and then turns and flies in circles over it. One, two, three and it descends again, quickly and easily, the flames seem to crash against the deck and slowly vanish, leaving behind just Ikki standing now in front of Selphie. Probably the most amazing part is that despite the flames nothing seems to have burned.]
That's how I fly.
[He actually looks slightly smug about it, even if normally he doesn't enjoy showing off. It has been a while since he had the chance to use his Cosmos, and it feels good.
He frowns slightly at her comment about controlling himself with sweets.]
You try to control yourself from eating too much when you haven't had anything to eat in three days and have a baby screaming and crying in your arms. At least I was able to get him milk, I don't want to imagine what could have happened if I had given him sweets as well.
