[He snorts.] Well, I would, but I'm afraid you're just not my type.

[With that, he rolls his eyes at her again.]

I don't know about that. Imagine if we had children that inherited my hairstyle.

Aww, Yuuki, why do ya have to break my heart like this?

*She sighs and pouts, all dramatically exaggerated - though he could be forgiven for thinking she was actually heartbroken. She giggles straight away though and ruffles his hair*

Nah! It'd be cute! Your hair, my eyes - the sweetest little babies!

I'm sure you'll get over it.

[He stares at her blandly. Ace did the same thing. Just what about him is saying 'please mess up my hair'?]

I still think I'd like to pass. I don't think children are in my future, for many many reasons.

[booyaka_boom]

I dunno, it might take some time...

*She glances at her wrist, as though glancing at a watch for the time, then nopes*

Yup! That's it! I'm over it now!

*Oh, is that a knowing smile on Selphie's face*

You never know... if I'm all lonely you might wanna borrow one of my eggs or something.

*Yes, this is a ridiculous conversation. Blame the rum*

[Natsuno shakes his head, smiling a little.]

I'm so glad for you. And no, because I'm not going to get married, children are not going to happen.

[booyaka_boom]

*She winks at him before shrugging a shoulder*

Don't see why not. You can have kids without being married. Lots of people do. And anyway, how do you know you'll never get married?

Because, I'm not...interested in women. So I won't be getting married, and no, in Japan children who's parents aren't married, such as myself are tormented.

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie blinks at Natsuno - not at the women part, that much she knew, but at the other part. And then she bursts into laughter. It's not funny, not really but...*

Wow! Okay! Fair enough! We don't want lots of little tormented Yuukis running around!

I meant tormented by other children. Other children were not very nice to me. It's just that bastard children aren't a part of the culture.

[booyaka_boom]

Aww, I'm sorry Yuuki. I knew what you meant.

*She offers an apologetic smile and squeezes his arm lightly*

But hey, you're young, you don't need to think about starting a family today or anything like that! And I don't think anyone on this ship is expecting us to get married either, so it all works out.

It's not a big deal now. It didn't bother me that much in the end. I think it's stupid.

[He stretches out his legs, leaning against her more in the process.]

I should hope not. Actually, I never thought I would want a family. I'm not sure I could adopt children either, I don't think it works like that in Japan.

I'm not an expert of your world or anything but... I'm gonna guess that you can move away from this Japan town, or city, whatever it is.

*Yes, because that's how much she knows about the geography of Earth*

But yeah, you don't have to worry about that here anyway. You can be with whoever you like...

I suppose I could move. I'm not sure how complicated that would be and my English is...rudimentary at best. You can ask Riku, he laughed.

[He smiles a bit and shrugs.]

I know that. I wasn't worried about it before, I'm not worried about it now. It's just, I suppose I come from a strange country.

[booyaka_boom]

Huh? But I understand you just fine! You've never sounded weird to me!

*Selphie lifts her arm so that she's giving him a hug round his shoulders rather than just clinging onto his arm*

Maybe. But you don't have to worry about your strange country right now. Cause, ya know, we're freezing on a ship called the Sun. I feel a little warmer now, though.

Yeah, but I figured out there's some kind of translation at work. Written and speaking. If you make a conscious decision...

[Nothing's better than an example, and now for a moment Selphie will hear Japanese.]

You can speak in your native tongue, just like that.

[He'll allow the hugging, this time.]

Whoa, really? That's kinda weird.

*She blinks at him, and giggles at the sound of the language*

That is so cool! Is that your language? It sounds really pretty! Could you teach me something to say?

That's what it sounds like when you speak to me. Riku and I played hangman, that's how I figured it out.

[Natsuno nods a bit.]

I suppose I can try. What do you want to know?

[booyaka_boom]

Huh. That is so weird...

*Selphie perks up at this, and seems to be thinking hard about what she can say*

Uhm... How about... Hello? That's a good start! And - goodbye, and thank you! Or...please! Those are the easy places to start, right?

*She's never had to learn a language before*

[Natsuno is impressed with her enthusiasm.]

Well to begin with, 'hello' is based on when you are saying it. It's different in the morning, afternoon and evening. We can start there.

[Natsuno cycles through all three, speaking slowly.]

Oh - okay! That's a good idea!

*Selphie nods, and listens very carefully, narrowing her eyes in concentration. Then she repeats the words, just like Natsuno said them. The first one is easy, but she has a little more difficulty getting the accent right for the last one. Mostly though, she seems to get the hang of it quickly*

Close to perfect, so it's good Selphie. It's an easy enough language, at least I think so, there's only so many characters and sounds. Speaking is much easier than writing or reading.

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie grins brightly, clearly very pleased at her efforts*

Yay! Good! Think I'll stick to just speaking it for now. Are there other people on the ship that are Japanese? I can practise it with them too!

You know, I have no idea. I don't actually think so.

Aww, that's a shame. That'd be cool if you could meet up and do like, Japanese stuff with other Japanese people. Are there other Japanese people on others ships, do you know?

*Cause she'll totally start practising on her journal if she has to*

I'm not sure what kind of Japanese stuff you're talking about.

[He nods a bit.]

There might be, I can't say I paid too much attention.
