Well, now that depends on who you were trying to attract. I imagine a pony would be pleased to see you with pony legs, but then again, they might appreciate it more if the rest of your body were also in pony form.

I think heels like that would be very inconvenient on a ship, though.

Oh... Yeah. I guess even with heels on I'm not really hot enough for pony men. But that's okay, because... Well, no offense or anything, but I prefer my men to be 100% human.

*She blinks as she says this - her current love interest is a phoenix - but that's technically human, right?*

You're right! But that's why I'm practising out here! I'll probably only need these for land, though, when I'm asked out for a romantic dinner or something.

*Logics, and she knows that this is extremely unlikely*

As the only ponies here are myself and Pinkie Pie, I don't believe you have to worry about the possibility. Though I think you might be able to charm them, pony or human or otherwise. Personality goes a long way.

*Oh, pony, flattery will get you everywhere. Selphie is positively beaming*

I can't say that I've 'charmed' any humans, yet. The ones who have an interest in charming ladies are fairly quick to be disappointed that I am not their species.

I am more of a diplomat than a coquette in any case.

Really? You mean, guys have got a crush on you just from talking to them?

*She certainly seems very impressed by this - she's never had that power, after all!*

Oh no, quite the opposite! Some of them have either only heard my voice, or heard that I am female, and sought me out thinking to get to know me better... only to discover that, in form, I am not somepony that wanted to get to know better in that way.

*Selphie giggles at that, imagining faces looking disappointed when they discover a pony instead of a beautiful woman*

You tricking guys like that - I mean, it's not your fault or anything but - those guys must get heartbroken!

Perhaps if they were more eager to get to know people for who they are, rather than what gender they are, they might be less so.

[It's an entirely cheerful and friendly condemnation! After all, Sanji and Ban aren't bad people. Just flawed!]

*Selphie just laughs at that and shakes her head*

I don't think there are a whole load of people round here that don't notice that sort of thing.

*But then... she did sometimes wonder if her crew even noticed that she was female*

Still... I don't think in this case it's the gender that's the problem. More the...species.

It's the gender that lured them in, before they even knew the species. I suppose it's for the best, though, since it saves me the effort of turning them down.

*Selphie sighs softly at that and shakes her head in a men-are-just-so-typical sort of way. She's not one that is used to the art of turning anyone down, since men didn't seem to bother her that way, but she gives an understanding look*

That is true. What about a man pony? Are you looking for one of those?

[Celestia wonders what would happen if Selphie spent a minute around Sanji...]

The word you're looking for is 'stallion'. And because of my circumstances, even if I was looking, that would be impossible. So no.

*That has happened, but Selphie is pretty sure that Sanji is just crazy, or something like that*

Stallion! That's the word! You need one of those! A knight to whisk you off your - uh, hooves...

*She pauses in her excitement, though, and pouts a little*

Impossible? But why?

I am a princess, and a ruler of Equestria. I have been around since long before any stallion alive today was born, and will be around long after they die. I am a legend, an abstract, like the sun I raise, not a mare.

[She says this all very serenely, calmly.]

Ohh!

*Selphie smiles, but princesses aren't historically known to be her favourite kind of person. At least, not at first. Still, she gives a little bow of her head*

Wow... so you're like, a pony kind of phoenix?

*Just trying to make sense of immortality here*

I don't die and rebirth in flames, I'm afraid. And phoenixes are quite separate beings. My pet Philomeena is one, as it happens. [Which brings a fond smile to Celestia's face at the memory.]

A phoenix...as a pet?

*Selphie takes her time to think over that carefully. As a concept, she finds it highly amusing, and slowly begins to laugh, quietly at first, then much louder*

Oh wow. A phoenix as a pet. I have one too, ya know.

Oh? Do you mean here, or back where you came from?

[If for no other reason, that's surprising just because of how much of a hoofful a phoenix can be.]

Nopes! I found him here, and decided to keep him as a pet. I'm sure he doesn't really mind, thought.

*Selphie smiles brightly, suggesting some secret hidden amusement. Ikki would probably be far from pleased to hear that Selphie had been referring to him as a pet*

Phoenixes are very capable of making disapproval clear, if they feel it. But they are also, in my experience, wise and patient creatures... if mischievous.

[Because Philomeena certainly couldn't have picked up that trait from Celestia herself.]

*Aware of her outburst, she quickly covers her mouth with a hand*

I just mean... well, yeah, he makes that pretty obvious sometimes. I'm just not so sure about the patient part...

*Or maybe the problem was that he had too much patience, and she didn't have enough*

Just because they are patient, does not mean they can't choose to act otherwise. But I promise you, the cycle of death and rebirth goes a long way towards fostering a unique perspective on life.

*Selphie smiles at the first part of that comment, then frowns very slightly at the next part*

I know. I could probably do with a little bit of patience myself when it comes to the death ans rebirth part...

*Never one to remain bothered by her problems for too long, she smiles brighter than before*

But he's a good pet, even with all that stuff!

[Celestia has not yet caught on to what is really going on her, lacking the information to do so. But she has stumbled slightly closer.]
