The big guy? You mean Thatch? Yeah, I bet he's asking you a lot.

[He's already told Thatch more than he even wants Roxas to know about him. Sure, he's not positive that he can trust him, but he has the feeling that they're all in good hands.]

But you can tell me about all that later. That's not party talk.

Happy stuff, dumb stuff, I don't know. Not serious business. It's your birthday, so you don't have to think about anything unless you want to.

I don't know, I'm pretty happy. This place is way better than the Organization! It's bigger, and there's never any barriers, we can go wherever we want, and Saix isn't here bossing us around...

[He trails off for a moment and looks away sheepishly.]

I'm having fun.

[Lea ruffles his hair.]

Good for you.You should.

[And he'll do anything to make sure that he gets the chance. No one deserves it more than Roxas does. They may not have much time, but he's going to make sure that Roxas lives as much as he can, makes all the friends he can, does everything he wants. Because he knows what Roxas is going to go back to.

And what he has to go back to. Roxas had even said it, that name that sends a painful stab through his heart every time he hears it.]

We're lucky we have nicer people to boss us around here, huh?

[The gesture is comforting, and Lea's been doing it more frequently since they didn't have things like missions. Roxas doesn't mind too much, because he likes Lea. Compared to the rest of his life, he's been doing a lot of living and having fun since they got there. At first he worried he'd be bored but there were so many people to talk to.]

Yeah, I think so. Hey, Lea, is this what summer vacation is really like? How long have we been here? It's been longer than a week. I didn't notice.

For one thing, it's winter, dummy. We've been here almost a month now and I don't know what you've been doing, but it hasn't been a vacation for me, that's for sure. Thatch has been making me work my ass off in the galley.

[But when all you have for reference is monotonous missions day in and day out, life on a pirate ship is kind of like a vacation.]

I guess there's chores and stuff. It just doesn't seem the same kind of thing is all. Do you want me to help you?

Nah, you do your jobs, I do mine. Same as always.

[Having Roxas around would mean they wouldn't be able to talk about spy work. He doesn't mind Roxas knowing that he's keeping tabs on the journals for Thatch, but he doesn't want him to know how he came about getting that assignment.

Lea smacks Roxas on the shoulder.]

No more talk about work.

[Roxas rolls his eyes.]

You always say stuff like that!

Because I don't wanna talk about work! Go get some more cookies or something!

[He always distracted Roxas with food before, too.]

[Roxas is nothing less than obedient, of course. He gets the cookies and comes back, offering one to Lea.]

Fine. Then tell me what to talk to you about.

[Lea pops the cookie in his mouth and shrugs, helpful as ever.]

It's your birthday.

[heartismyown]

[Hmm, Roxas thinks.]

Maybe I should go open my other presents! I'll talk to you later, okay Lea?

[Lea gives him a smile and a wave.]
