*Drawing her eyes away from all the garishly coloured shoes, she turns her attention back to the pair Kai was holding, nodding her head in serious approval*

Yeah! Those look like the kinda thing!

*As a test to her question, she leans forward and pinches one of the stiletto heels and tries to wriggle it back and forward*

Seems pretty stuck to me...

But if you put your weight on it...

[It looks like it should fit her, but she's afraid to even try to stand on it. If she's going to try something on, it's going to be something she's not going break accidentally. She hands the other shoe over to Selphie and makes her way further back, looking for anything she might actually be able to wear.]

Hey, Selphie, do boots count as long as they have heels?

[She could probably manage that. Probably. And there's a rack of really nice ones that seem to be on sale. Out of style, maybe?]

*Selphie looks at this pair, and decides to give it a try. It might be a bit if a challenge, but she goes for it anyway*

Boots with heels? Sure, they count too! Least, I don't see why not. Found a pair that you like?

*She wobbles a moment on the stilettos, but at least she's still standing*

[As soon as she gets the okay, Kai starts looking through the boots to find a pair that looks like it will fit.]

So much work! Usually I just have to worry about matching colors and then things can be tailored to fit, but...well, I guess you just try them on...

[She mutters to herself, talking through the entire process until she manages to find a pair that fits, then stands and wobbles a bit herself.]

They look good at least! I don't know about going anywhere in them, but I can wear them!

You mean people make your clothes for you back home?

*Selphie raises a brow at this concept then, glancing light and right, attempts to jump up and down on the spot to see if she can land on her feet. It works, just about. When she sees Kai's boot though, her eyes light up and she claps her hands*

Kai! Wow! You look awesome!

You think so?

[Kai turns side to side and shows off a bit.]

I should buy them then! Are you gonna get those?

[She tries to crouch a little to see the shoes Selphie is wearing, but almost falls on her head.]

I'll, um, assume they look as good from up close as they do from far away...

Uh huh! I definitely think so!

*She keeps her hands clasped and nods her head up and down slowly, as though this will prove the point*

Yeah! I will! But I wanna buy red ones instead!

*Selphie performs so awkward moves, taking off her shoes, putting on the ones she's borrowed, and picking up the new red pair*

We are gonna look awesome close up and from far away!

As long as we don't fall on our heads!

[Kai pays the shopkeeper for the boots (There goes all of her share of the money...) and decides to keep wearing them, since it's easier to carry her sandals.]

Now I just need to find a guy who'll appreciate all the hard work I'm putting in.

Yeah, well, as long as that doesn't happen, then we'll be okay! Unless a handsome stranger comes to rescue us, and notices our beautiful feet and legs as they pick us up off the street!


*Selphie definitely reads too many stupid romance novels, but she still feels that this is excellent reasoning*

Sadly they don't have stalls for those - but I can keep window shopping for you anyway!

[Selphie should probably loan Kai some of those romance novels. At least then she could get some vicarious romance in.]

Maybe I should try falling down on purpose. I mean, not right here, obviously, but somewhere in a nice area on a nice island...

[Though obviously she's capable of getting dumb ideas perfectly well on her own.]

*Yes. That should happen. So that they can gush about them too and swap gossip about characters. Vicarious romance is always fun*

*Something clicks in Selphie's brain, that she hadn't thought of before, but it seems like such a good idea. Containing her excitement, though, Selphie speaks slowly*

Hey... You haven't met a guy called Aya before, have you? He's on my ship. He helped me once, when I fell.

No, I haven't met him! What's he like? Is he handsome?

[Selphie now has Kai's undivided attention. She hasn't met many of the guys on Selphie's crew and really didn't want to after that whole thing with Ace, but she's willing to hear her out on this one.

Nevermind that that sounds like a girl's name, but whatever!]

Aya? Yes! He really is.

*Though, maybe it'd be a good idea if Ikki didn't hear her say that. But it was definitely true*

He's very nice, very charming. When I fell he picked me up and carried me and put me in a cart because he was worried about my ankle. It was like something from a fairy tale, I promise!

*It happened quite a while ago, but that was what she was reminded of when he lifted her*

So he's very strong. And he fights with a sword, too, which is pretty cool. He's kinda...the strong, silent type, if you know what I mean.

*And she's sure that Kai will have some idea of what that is. Selphie grins at Kai, amazed that she hadn't thought of Aya before!*

[There are stars in her eyes now. That sounds perfect.]

The strong, silent type...I hope I get to meet him before we leave...

[Otherwise, she's just going to have to daydream about it instead and that just isn't the same.]

Do you think he'd like me?

*Yay stars! Selphie beams at Kai, because she really thinks that she might be onto something good here*

I hope you do, too! Unless, ya know, I can arrange for you guys to 'accidentally meet' someday sometime?

*She nods an enthusiastic 'yes'*

For sure! Who wouldn't like you? Besides, now you can show off your new boots too!

Right! Well, I guess you could maybe try to ask him a few questions...see if he might be interested, you know? I mean, he might have someone back home we don't know about and...

[And that would be no good at all, but just her luck.]

But we should be positive! Positive! I mean, maybe we could still meet and he'd be blown away by how beautiful I am and totally forget anyone from back home!

[Yeah right, but you never know!]

*She just assumed that Aya was single, though, and she really should have checked this before suggesting him to Kai*

Yes! I think that that is what's gonna happen - it'll totally be love at first sight!

[Kai's attention drifts off as she thinks about it, constructing the perfect scenario in her head. It would help if she knew what Aya looks like, but she can just make something up for now. Someone handsome and noble, with impeccable manners (unlike Selphie's horrible, horrible captain) and that sort of stoic, distant air about him...]

Yeah... It really does...

*But, as far as Selphie's aware, that's something that strictly stays in romance novels. Or maybe she just hadn't experienced it. That's all*
