ETA: With regards to Dog's suggestion of the coral, the evening of the 12th will be used to arrange the next week's rotation for keeping Tamaki company and checking the beaches for coral.)

[He scoffs, and resumes walking.]

It doesn't count if you just conveniently forget whenever you're wrong.

[He walked cheerfully alongside Hikaru.

He answers Hikaru's words with conviction.] ...I'm never wrong~!!!

Tch. [He's wrong, but Hikaru knows if he brings up anyone like Bossa Nova, Tamaki will just say he knew he was a good guy all along.]

[He tries to look around with a smile on his face. Its nice to win an argument once in a while with the witty twin.]

[It's not winning when the other side had no chance of their points being recognised. He's in a bit of a sulk about it, and trying hard to fight the urge to have the last word in it.]

How did you meet her, anyway? [He said that she had been first mate of the ship, but that doesn't explain how they wound up on the same ship to begin with.]

[He glances at Hikaru for a short bit whilst trying to think about it.]

Kyouya introduced me. He was already in the ship prior to my arrival~!

Well that's how I met her...

...from that time we'd talk. We even tried to convince her to be our Haruhi here, before you and Haruhi came. And even asking her if she could be Kaoru's other half, if we had a host club at one point in time.

You mean you tried replacing us?! [He stops walking again, to turn to Tamaki with shock and hurt written all over his face. The reasons to dislike Karen just keep stacking up for him - not only did they want to swap her into Haruhi's place, but they were going to get her to take his spot too? How was the Brotherly Love even supposed to function with that?]

No.. it wasn't like that!

[There was a momentary pause.]

It wasn't about replacing you. Because Kaoru did it more than once. He even suggested that I call Antoine, Hikaru instead of Louis which was Kyouya's suggestion.

[There was genuine sadness in Tamaki's eyes.]

I think Kaoru just wouldn't admit it, because he knew it'd be horrible to ask you to be taken from our world and brought here - but I think he really badly missed you. He was always just being brave, but I think he really wanted you to be here. Always looking at everyone from behind, and hoping that when they turn to look at him, it'll be you.

[That stops him still, and whatever he was going to say flies out the window. If Tamaki looked, he'd be able to see Hikaru's eyes filling with heartbreak and guilt - until he ducks his head that is, and covers his eyes with a hand. The other balls into a loose fist by his side.]

That... idiot... [He swallows hard, trying to contain himself.] He should have known I'd be happy to come here, to be with him.

Because he didn't want you to suffer the same situation. This isn't an ideal world to be in for the two of you.

[He glances at Hikaru and places a hand on his shoulders.]

I think he just kept telling himself that it was better this way. That him going through this alone was better than have you be in danger.

Who cares if it's not an ideal world! As long as we're together, that's all that matters. He shouldn't have to go through things alone. [They're not made to function separately. They're supposed to be together - to be able to support each-other, and to make things easier in their lives. That's why they were born twins, and Hikaru firmly believes that.

He takes a deep, shuddering breath before standing up straight and letting his hand drop back to his side. He looks at Tamaki, eyes full of determination. He wants to demand a promise that Tamaki will never let Kaoru lie to himself about things like that again - but he knows he would do the same thing. It's a defence mechanism of sorts, for them. Doesn't mean he likes it.]

If he--if I can't be around--promise me you won't let him think it's better if he's alone. [Because he knows his twin, and he knows that if he's not around, Kaoru's not exactly likely to go sharing his thoughts with everyone. Isolation isn't good for them, they know that now, but that doesn't mean they're the most open people.]

And that's how I thought it should be. But you need to understand, he was also very worried about you. Thinking that it would be okay if its only him, just as long as you were okay.

We never did. [He gave Hikaru a gentle smile.] But we both know that he was only trying to be strong. Because you're just that important to him.
