I guess I did come in the middle of a pretty large quest. *At least he's had time to get acquainted with how the boat runs and amazingly they didn't shipwreck at all!*

I don't know if I have any ghost stories but I have stories.

Well...I could tell a story about what I did in my own world. I traveled to a land suspended in the sky and brought it back down to the earth. *He's not even boasting, just being matter of fact about it.*

*He nods and takes a bit of a drink from one of the many bottles of booze around. Just a little bit as he knows he's a lightweight.*

I came from a little village and left home at 16 to make my own way in the world. I found the town of Promarock that had a port out into a giant sea and within distance was another island nation called Esteria surrounded by a dark mist and storms but you could see a gigantic tower that stretched to the sky called the Tower of Darm.

Eventually. I sailed to Esteria and I braved the storm in a little boat by myself. The boat sank and I washed on the shore. *Start paying attention to the amount of shipwrecks and harsh landings in his stories, captain, because it might happen to your boat too.*

What I learned from the people of Esteria was a long time ago, the land used to be called Ys ("ease"). Terrible monsters covered the land and in order to save a few people, two goddess along with seven mages launched a land high above the clouds. The monsters somehow built the tower to try to chase them but couldn't close enough. That's all that anyone ever knew about Ys until I arrived.

Pretty much. When I got there, after hundreds of years, the monsters had returned and that's about when the storms circled the island. People had to stick close to their towns. But between a seer and the members of city watch, we found out that the mages had left behind tomes that might be able to solve the mystery of what was going on in the land.

Because I wasn't from there, I could go out and search for answers without taking protection away from any of the towns.

They didn't really have a lot of adventuring sort of people. Probably because they lived on an island and the mainland wasn't really that far away.

So I traveled all over and I met two girls who helped me along the way while I got the volumes. Their names were Reah and Feena. I didn't spend as much time with Reah as I did with Feena. *He can't help but look fond whenever he says Feena's name.*

We did hit it off when I was taking a break between finding the volumes. *However, there's definite "but" in that story.*

Eventually, working with people on the island, we found out that there was a person responsible for bringing terror on Esteria and he was using the Tower of Darm as his base. So I started to climb up with the help of my friends. The man who was doing it was waiting for me because I had all but one of the volumes. He had the last one and was hoping to collect all of them to access all their power.

So I fought him on the top of his tower in an epic battle. He was a sorcerer and I don't know how I survived, but I lasted long enough to give him the final blow and then take his book. *It's accurate, given that it's one of the hardest and most bullshit boss fights in the history of the franchise, but we digress.*

Once I got the volumes together, they started using their magics. Reah and Feena appeared but they turned out to be the two ancient goddesses from long ago. Then we flew into the sky together.

*Clearly Motochika doesn't have half the crazy supernatural shit that Adol runs into on a regular basis.* Yes and then we went to the sky together and I landed somewhere and when I woke up, I was in a village and we were in the land of Ys.

*That's just in the first two games. It just goes on from there.*

That's kind of what I thought. But when I wandered around the village, at the very edge you look down through the clouds and to the earth. I think the enchantment that kept it up in the air hid it from view.

So now that I was in Ys, I found out it wasn't all safe. I had to figure out what was going on here and find Reah and Feena.

I think there was some kind of enchantment around but I didn't really want to test that. *Adol continues with his story, which consists of going through any number of landscapes packed onto the floating land, about the size of a kingdom which include -- a snowy glacier, a lava land and a vast palace of where the ancient Ys people lived, but now it was overrun by monsters.* Then with the help of all the friends I'd made, I made it to the center of Ys and it was...just strange.

*Adol laughs a little, at the comment and because of the alcohol Motochika made him drink.*

I guess even stranger than a floating land. In the center of it was just...metal and things glowing on the walls. You could also touch a certain point and it connected back on Esteria inside a deep mine, which was where the thing behind all the attacks was hiding.

With the help of the goddesses, I finally defeated the evil and the magic was destroyed. Because of that, Ys floated back down to earth and fit right back where it came from.

It was a giant crater in the ground. No one really wanted to go near it, plus the Tower of Darm stood right on the edge.
