When: Backdated to February 12th, late afternoon.
What: Hikaru manages to bring home a dragon instead of any of the things he set out to buy.

It took the sacrifice of bread, cheese, and a really good bag; an entire barrel of fish; a lot of bucket removals; finding the patience to deal with inquisitive sniffing, and a lot of time to get here but finally, finally Hikaru and Toothless have arrived at the bottom of the gangway leading up to the Antoinette. It's here that Hikaru pauses, considering. He's fairly confident that the dragon can get up it without breaking it - those things were made to take much heavier loads, he's sure - but... should he really just introduce it to everyone all at once? That seems like a pretty bad idea when he thinks about it, especially if the only thing he knows about handling animals is that people should stay calm around them.

With a glance at the dragon, he decides to try and call down his crew one by one to introduce them. Knowing them, it would probably fail - but he wants to at least show Kaoru first! And at least if they do all descend at once after he tries to get them one-by-one, it's their own fault and he can't be blamed if the dragon reacts badly. Right?

He doesn't know who's on deck right now, though theoretically they all should be.

"Oi, Kaoru!" He yells out, hoping to be heard over the noise in the docks. He doesn't know who's going to answer his call first, but he can hope for his twin! He's not sure he trusts the dragon to stay put while he goes onboard to fetch anyone, so aside from using his journal, he doesn't really have any good ways of getting anyone's attention. Maybe he can convince the dragon to set something on fire, if nobody hears him.

     Toothless peers around Hikaru at the new face that approaches, emitting an inquiring gurgle-like rumble. He glances up at the boy before looking back at the one with the funny things on his face.

     Then slowly he starts forward, ready to do some curious inspecting of his own, if Kyouya isn't about to move, himself.

Oh yes, Hikaru. He got that bill. And now he understands it. But. Well. He gets it. Because... that is definitely a dragon. Well, Hikaru wanted one. That makes this interesting.

He wasn't going to move toward it, and... Now it was coming toward him. So, Kyouya stands very still, very calm. Exactly like he would with a very large dog or something equally dangerous.

"You've made a new friend, I see."

Hmm... Should he follow the dragon as it inspects Kyouya? He's pretty sure that each of them can hold their own - Kyouya's terrifying enough to scare even a dragon into submission, right?

He follows along a step behind Toothless, just in case.

"You were taking too long Kyouya-senpai, so I decided to go out and get him myself." Cocky, with a grin to match. Kyouya did kind of say he could get one after all.

     So tense! But Kyouya doesn't seem to be scared of him in the way Toothless has seen others. He sidles closer, sniffing at the bespectacled human before circling him.

Extremely tense. But very still. Though the circling makes him shift a little, watching the large black creature. He can imagine this is rather what it feels like to be on a raft and have a shark circling.

So, he keeps his eye on Hikaru. "Well, it certainly seems you found one. Will he be staying with us, then?" Because, well. He knows what he said. Even if he really didn't think it'd come true.

"Of course~" Hikaru's grin turns sharp; it's obvious to him that he's won this without a fight. If Kyouya's asked that already, then clearly there are going to be some stipulations; but the bottom line is that the dragon will get to stay.

He still keeps a careful eye on the dragon - is it sizing Kyouya up to eat him? - though he really doesn't know what he could do if it decides it doesn't like him.

     Coming around Kyouya's front again, Toothless straightens up, so he can be eye-to-eye with the other. He seems most curious about those things on Kyouya's face, and hopefully the guy won't be too bothered when the dragon's snout moves closer to sniff at his glasses. ...and likely fog them up with his breath.

Kyouya leans back a bit, very aware of the dragon's presence. But the sniff... It's almost like a dog. Just a curious animal, not a hungry one. That? That he can handle. Very slowly.

He reaches up and takes off his glasses to wipe them with his shirt, clear the fog.

Can it understand him? Well, he talks to Antoinette when he visits Tamaki at the second Suoh estate. And Hikaru was chattering away at it. So. "They correct poor eyesight. Not something to be eaten." Because he doesn't even want to imagine what new glasses would cost him from Miss Margie's...

Neither Kyouya nor the dragon look like they're about to attack, so Hikaru allows himself to relax a bit more.

"I don't think he eats glasses, Kyouya-senpai," he points out helpfully. "Unless they look like fish."

     Oh, they come off! The dragon backs up again, watching as Kyouya wipes the glasses down. He sits, his tail curling around in front of him. Eating the things doesn't seem to be of interest to him, at least.

"Which reminds me--"

He doesn't quite take his eyes off the dragon. Not for long. Just to glance over at Hikaru with a very set look on his face. He'd almost forgotten about the payment he'd had to make to the fishermen.

"If he's going to stay, you are going to be responsible for his expenses."

Who, him? Hikaru widens his eyes into an innocent expression, tilting his head a fraction in a move he'd picked up from Honey to emphasise his youthful features. He's so young and innocent, Kyouya, look at him. He blinks a few times in feigned confusion, and offers a small shrug.

"Of course I'll pay for him, Kyouya-senpai." Though inwardly, he cusses. He had hoped it would be more of a group thing, but he can probably still squeeze money out of at least Tamaki. "He'll be like a bodyguard for me and Kaoru." A subtle reminder from him that it's a dragon, Kyouya, and nobody is going to attack someone who has one of those. Any price is worth that assurance of safety.
